I get not liking Izzy as a person, but as a fighter I think people are over reacting. His accolades are top 5 and he’s still only 24-3 lol three loses with all the huge names he’s fought. In my opinion, he’s still got gas left in the tank. Don’t write him off.

after he beat Whitaker, he told the press he was injured and needed time, and could not turn around quickly to fight Izzy. That’s what Uncle Chael is referring to
Fight miles are a real thing, and kickboxers tend to log a lot of fight miles. There isn't a magic number where you're suddenly just not good anymore, there's a lot of other factors, but eventually, all those punches and kicks to the head catch up.
It’s so crazy how few years these dudes have of their prime. I know there are outlying cases but in general it seems like 4-5 years. 31/32 to 36. After that- all depends on how good the competition is. 4-5 years of prime? That’s nuts. Islam is 32. He’s got 3 years until he’ll be called “old man” by the younger fighters and fans. THREE YEARS! Some of y’all may not have the perspective yet to really feel how short of a time frame that is but MY GOD. A drop in the bucket. Almost makes it discouraging to watch MMA. But I still love it.
Now really think about how long Jon Jones has been fighting at championship level. Absolutely insane. If not for his personal life controversies he could have gone down as the Michael Jordan of MMA.
Prime is about 7 years, late 20s and early 30s, like 27-34.
Real physical prime is actually more like 26-31. After that the body (very) slowly starts to decline but it's not noticeable until like 37.
32-35 can still be good years to be on top if you are skilled enough, which if you are already champ then most likely you are.

I don't know if there are many things that I heard about more often in my life than Uncle Chael talking about that DDP on the undercard/Bo Nickal on the main card-situation. 😄
Izzy was a dominant champion. He was was very busy, didn’t duck anybody. Several times, I was rooting for his opponent, because he was fighting one of my favorite fighters. He’s entertained me for years. He has over 100 professional fights . He was a great champion.
Strickland broke that man's will to keep fighting.

I think fighters have figured out to put pressure on adesanya. Problem is hes one of the best counter punchers to ever do it. Having said that, i think driscus is a worse matchup for adesanya than strickland was

All the hate is just added flavour. There's no fighter in the UFC with a better story. Izzy is now starting the third part of his story. The hate is important because it's more consistent than being a fan. The hate keeps the notoriety bubbling. What really hurts a fighter is when the fans ignore them.

He's 1-2 in his last three fights. Hate to be pessimistic, but it's likely that his best days are behind him. Same story of virtually every fighter's career.
In my opinion Izzy didn’t deserve a title shot off of his last fight but from him being dominant when he was champ I guess it’s fine. But if he loses this next fight he needs to climb back.

I would ask Sean Strickland his opinion of who should be the favorite in DDP v IA since he rearranged both of their faces. No?
Sean has a scar on his eye from the stiches he got in the DDP fight, there no are scars on DDP or IA from their fights with Strickland. I know you might say that it was because of a headbutt, it wasn't, you can clearly see where Dricus's right hand cut Sean, he was already bleeding before the "headbutt".

@@mikemosley2948 During the fight DDP's one eye was swollen shut, and Sean couldn't see out of his one eye beause it was covered with blood. It was pretty even in terms of damage, but DDP's veriety of attacks, takedowns and controlling the majority of the fight by moving foreward, made him the winnner. You have to be biased to think that is was a robbery, I hope they fight again soon.

Let's all be honest with ourselves, DDP did not beat Sean Strickland. It's just a fact. Nobody cares about Izzy versus DDP! Anybody who knows anything about the UFC knows that they are partnered with woke ESPN, and they are sponsored by woke Bud light. That's the reason why even if remotely close the fight was never going to go to Sean Strickland. That's the reason why sean Strickland didn't get a rematch.
