He'd be 1-3 in his last 4 fights. He probably wouldn't be inclined to stick around to claw his way back up, but he might take one or two more and then ride off into the sunset. I can't see him retiring on a loss, but it's likely his best days are behind him.

Uncle Cheal, I'm from South-Africa, and I have a friend who was competing in national kickboxing locally here for S.A colors. Don't play around, I have sparred with this dude and when he hits you it feels like a brick. He lost his first fight at the nationals, he got K.O'd in round 1. So I can only imagine how tough those guys at national levesl are, and still they are not even close to DDP. This is why I know how hard DDP hits, worse than a brick, and that is also the reason why I won't bet on Israel Adesanya in this fight.

@@sonicman52 No it doesn't apply to every other UFC fighter, not all fighters are the same or uses the same techniques, some are faster or more technical, have better fighter IQ or stamina. I'm specifically talking about powerful punches, and that is one of the things that makes DDP dangerous, not even talking about his grappling skills.

Izzy is the only fighter in the UFC who has had the skill to go toe to toe with Perriera in striking for all 5 rounds 🤷🏽♂️
Except Izzy didnt go "toe to toe" with Alex...Izzy doesn't go toe to toe with anyone. Point fighting at range and mainly counter striking isn't going toe to toe at all. Izzy never pushes the pace, dictates the fight and rarely initiates actual punching exchanges. He is obviously one of the best at that, since he beat everyone using his style. There are plenty of guys in other divisions just as good or better at actual striking than Izzy but nobody calls them "one of the best strikers in the UFC." Izzy has turned into a point fighting counter puncher, he isn't an elite level kickboxer anymore.

I think he’s gotta fight Strickland regardless of what happens. And even if Adesanya loses to DDP he probably just fights Strickland for a #1 contender spot and just fight DDP again anyways, or even chimaev. He’s already beat damn near everyone else throughout his entire career that he’s basically running out of opponents.

You are completely right. Ideally Izzy would be fighter and up and coming contender like khamzat to defend his ranking while ddp and Strickland rematch. Unfortunately ufc don’t care about merit they care about what makes them the most money and that’s Izzy in a title fight he still the most popular MW rather you love him or hate him and this is the fight they wanted to do last year before ddp got hurt so they’re aren’t going to miss their chance a 2nd time.
