This was easier to do the 2nd time around than it was the 1st! I thought it was going to be all these weird convoluted steps and special characters needed like the 1st time and surprisingly, it was straight forward and easy!🤗
Good video, Mike. I was looking for something of an overview of what to expect, and I got that from it. I do think it is a mistake to forego the extra security step that was offered. Yes, it adds somewhat to the sign-up process, but it provides a level of security that is valuable, and adding it will protect what is probably one of most people's most valuable assets, their Social Security benefits. I recommend capturing those steps and incorporating them into a revised video, you'll be doing your clients (and us random folks) a big favor!
Hello Mike! What I am inquiring about is how to make my EMAIL ADDRESS as my authentication method to login into my SS. The 5 methods listed as option to authenticate does not include email. I do not retain the same tel# therefore I have this issue. I am in transition process of signing in to Login.gov. from the old method. Thank you.
If you live outside the USA, you will not be able to use it because the system can’t handle non-USA addresses. The issue has not been addressed in at least a year. If you’re a US citizen, you can go to a US consulate or embassy. If not, your only access is through a phone call to the SSA customer service number.
Oh my God. You just answered my question. I was going crazy looking where I made the mistake of going to the wrong page. So, please tell me how can I finish this transition headache....🙏please, please And I love U more than yesterday!!😅
The system has been incorrectly configured, and no one is doing anything about it. If you live outside the USA, you cannot use Login.gov. Online access to ssa.gov is not possible for overseas residents at this point. There's no online workaround - you can go to a US Consulate or Embassy if you are a US citizen, or you can call the SSA on the published number.
Thanks for the Video, Its really helpful. The activation was sent to mail as letter instead as Text message, I just did it like 2 days ago. Is there anything i can do to receive the Activation code via Text Message? Please help
You may want to delete your account and start over again or maybe use a new email address. I am not totally sure. Below is a link I found on login.gov explaining some options. www.login.gov/help/manage-your-account/add-or-change-your-authentication-method/

Thanks Mark for the insight and I will consider what you have said. I appreciate it.

An activation code will be sent in 15-20 days. Is it normal?
