@dareheaven2 you can use 'Canare Quads' it has four conductors but you can put the two wires together.

Hi MIke, thanks for making this video. I don't know if I am not seeing properly or what. The cable you got has three conductors (black (-), white (+), drain), in the miniplug you solded the whites (+) to the side conectors and the black (-) to the back to the middle pin. What do you do with the drain? THANKS AGAIN, THIS IS HELPFUN FOR PEOPLE LIKE ME THAT HAVE LITTLE IDEA OF CABLES (BUT I LOVE TO DO MY OWN WHEN POSSIBLE)

Did you solder the drain wire to the gnd together with the negative wire on the mini jack? :)

Title is incorrect. There are 4 connections on ipod/iphone for modern use. You could damage your apple equipment using this and in any case the sound reproduction is noticeably worse since two channels are merged. Remove the reference to ipod and its ok.
