    The route is called ‘Flytrap’ and for non climbers it’s worth knowing this is quite a ‘committing’ climb. Once you’re in the cave there’s no escape really other than climbing up. It says a lot about Pete’s confidence in Toby’s ability that he’s happy and relaxed about taking him on a quite serious climb like this. Very cool.

    Had a right mare on this years ago, spent about an hour greasing along the holds to get into the hanging belay, got beefed by seals. Belayed a rather unmotivated partner in to the stance. It had started raining outside at this point and the waves were picking up. we both stared up into the darkness, shat our kegs then lead back out the way we had came and prussiked away to a pint and a solid bonk of the egos.
    Top route though ;) standard gogarth experience

Then to crossover to parkour, you guys try the famous sandstone tower jumps - here in Hermany they is even a sport of jumping between towers in Elbsandstein and they have like a grading system for the jumps) - Toby will like it

    I did an unintentional variation on this route. Instead of going up to the cave entrance from the 2nd belay I did a rising traverse into the back of the cave and around the other side arriving onto the chockstone. Very dark, very damp, very crumbly, think I gave it E3 5c or so and named it Nightflight. Probs not recommended unless very keen on 'interesting' adventures! Nice video.

    This definitely reminds me of progressing in trad climbing, but being a bit rusty and outmatched in skill by my climbing partner.
    Takes alot from a leader sometimes to be considerate but be able to push your partners confidence in what's achievable.
    It's surprising this gets E2(E3 UKC). I assume this is mostly because of coastal rock and the potentially dangerous moves committing to the end of pitch 3. Toby seems pretty strong as well!
    I climbed moonraker(HVS), South Devon area. Epic approach. And bold last pitch in comparison to the first two.
    Cool content this.

  • @jakubrypan7083

    Why do you need two ropes? When I climb (i dont do trad climbing, just sport climbing on a rock) I use just one rope...

    • @MrBugs183
      @MrBugs183 10 месяцев назад

      using two ropes is really useful when trading climbing. It helps stop rope drag from the different pieces of protection. Trad protection because of the randomness of its spacing can put sharp angle on a single rope. With two you clip one rope for all the gear on the left and the other rope deals with all the gear on the right. Another factor is protection on traverses. One rope can deal with the first section, then the second will do the work after that, again cutting down on rope drag.

And his girlfriend was thrilled too . Goodness , all these negative naysayers ! Really cheeses me off . Get a life !
