- Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl: Meet Captain Jack Sparrow, a charismatic and cunning pirate who has his ship stolen by the cruel Barbossa. Along with the blacksmith Will Turner, who is in love with the governor's daughter Elizabeth Swann, he embarks on an adventure to recover the Black Pearl and break the curse that turns the pirates into skeletons at night. Get ready for lots of action, humor and rum in this movie that started the saga! - Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest: Jack Sparrow is in trouble again! He owes a debt to the fearsome Davy Jones, the lord of the seas, who commands the ghost ship Flying Dutchman and the monster Kraken. To get rid of the pact, he needs to find Davy Jones' heart, which is hidden in a mysterious chest. But he is not the only one who wants the heart: the cunning Lord Cutler Beckett, of the East India Company, is also after it to control the oceans. And there is also the love triangle between Will, Elizabeth and Jack, which will keep you cheering! - Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End: After being swallowed by the Kraken, Jack Sparrow is trapped in the world of the dead. His friends need to rescue him before it's too late. For that, they go to Singapore, where they find Captain Sao Feng, who has a map to the end of the world (where Jack is, not New Russia). There, they face an epic battle against Davy Jones and Beckett, who want to end the era of pirates. And there is also the surprising revelation of who Will's father is and Elizabeth's fate as queen of pirates! - Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides: Jack Sparrow is looking for the legendary Fountain of Youth, but he is not alone. He meets an old flame, the beautiful and cunning Angelica, who is the daughter of the infamous Blackbeard, the most feared pirate of the seven seas. They board the ship Queen Anne's Revenge, where they face mermaids, zombies and Spaniards. And there is also the return of Captain Barbossa, who now works for the king of England and has a personal grudge with Blackbeard. - Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales: Jack Sparrow is out of luck and out of rum. He is pursued by Captain Salazar, an old enemy who escaped from the Devil's Triangle with his crew of ghostly killers. Jack's only hope is to find the powerful Trident of Poseidon, which grants its owner total control over the seas. But he is not alone in this quest: he counts on the help of Henry Turner, Will and Elizabeth's son, who wants to free his father from the curse of the Flying Dutchman; and Carina Smyth, an astronomer accused of witchcraft for her intelligence.
The best things about the Pirates movies is the names. 'On Stranger Tides' is an amazing and evocative title, full of mystery and potential. None of which is in the movies, but the titles are great.
The 4 questions from 12:15 can be answered by assuming they didnt need to go far or deep to get to where they needed, just go straight till they hit the anchor, i dont remember how far they go in the movie but a better one is probably how that boat manages to hold that air and how Jack knew it would.
I belive this was the plan. They could walk a short distance on foot to remain unnoticed and then could easily leave the boat and reach the ship swimming
That actually is how that would work They had two people walk under water with a bow with air in it you trap the air in the boat and because there's air taking up the space Water cannot rush into that spot as the air is trapped has nowhere to go so it can't be pushed away And two things can't occupy the same space so if you occupy A space with something that cannot be moved away because it has nowhere to go then water cannot fill that space
@@Thespeedrap I dont agree. I think Pirates of the caribbean are as good as James Bond movies were in the 60s, it has become a great legacy of its own now. And hope they make more

Seeing as the Pirates movie was supposed to be Monkey Island you can see how a lot of the clever writing crept in. Will was supposed to be Guybrush, Elizabeth was supposed to be Elaine and Barbosa was LeChuck. I think Jack was supposed to be Rum Rogers…?
Jack sparrow going “oh she’s not told you” then immediately cuts to Scar on pride rock actually had me laughing so much I fell out my bed and still don’t know why that made me laugh so hard 😂
I must admit the first three pirates of the Caribbean movies were extremely entertaining the last two were just unnecessary add-ons to capitalize on the name for. 💵that being said you know they going to make more Pirates of the Caribbean movies for no reason.
I loved the original trilogy as a kid. I loved pirates as a kid, though, so that might be why. The I still love pirates. I go to the Renaissance fair every year with a friend. We dress as pirates.
This movie is my favorite because of the action and the acting a bit. Especially for a sorry I forgot here name but the one who gave jack the dirt. Love her. She’s awesome. ALSO I LOVE THE HOIST THE COLORS HIGH!!
Hey Critic - there's already been an R rated Disney movie. From what I remember, Tom Hanks' big screen breakthrough, Splash, was originally Rated R for all the nudity, sex and innuendo, but it must have been appealed and brought down to a PG. If memory serves, in 1984 it would have been the first R rated Disney movie ever made.
From the looks of it they took a bunch of smaller buckets , filled them with seawater , and make a path to the big bucket , with the Johns then cautiously stepping from the bucket to the bucket , walked to the big comfy bucket to stand there. I would love to see him slowly stepping from bucket to bucket , trying not to spill the water.
12:11 fun fact when shooting this scene Don began to go a little loopy from the small amount of oxegen and so randomly started speaking in only Elvish.
the 2 greatest dis-services of the story. 1) going past the 3rd movie and 2) not having Elizabeth live on the Dutchman, having them be immortal together, forever. while jack returns to the only life for him.... a pirates life!!
My probably favorite film series the order would be 2 1 3 I gotta see the last two again to pick where they go.Hans zimmer the crew didna great job with music You guys did great job I appreciate your guys's hard work
I feel like I'm gonna die on this hill...but f' it I LOVE AT WORLD'S END AND DEAD MEN'S CHEST!! I feel like Kingdom Hearts may have dulled my "tastes" in stories, but I honestly love how complicated (and also very convoluted) the second and third movie made the (at then) trilogy. I like Cutler Beckett as a villain (although not as much as Jones). He's always been seen to me as a conniving and deceitful strategist, seeing the use of Davy Jones as a way to go up in the world as well as get revenge on Jack Sparrow. I like how more serious the third movie was because, well, it WAS the end of a trilogy (at the time) where a bunch of stories were coming to a close. And finally, I LOVE the idea of the Brethren Court and the whole idea of pirate politics, including their whole meeting scene. I know i might get flamed for this, but I dont care. I love all of the movies (5 being a guilty pleasure)
For a moment I misheard " Jack Sparrow (played by Johnny Depp)" as "Johnny Depp (played by Jack Sparrow)", and I was gonna say "Ehh, that's all people nowadays remember him as, so he's not wrong" lmao
for Dead man's Chest, when Elizabeth falters and the compass points to Jack, I personally don't think it's that she desires him as a love interest but actually that she desires for something more than just being a Governor's Daughter, something more piratey and Jack is just that perfect inspiration as sure he's got his flaws... but what pirate doesn't, however his wit and skills are what lead her to that, even if in the end, she just chooses to abandon that life after Will gets the "Curse of the Escort of the Dead".... and then, On Stranger Tides happen starting the ruin of the Pirates franchise
missed opportunity to use the old Jar Of Dirt remix and Why Is The Rum Gone remix, heck when you do Lord Of The Rings and Hobbit all by Peter Jackson, make sure to include the They're Taking The Hobbits To Isengard remix and also mention that Peter Jackson doesn't just make carrot eating cameos in the movies but also the Lego game adaptations
1:28:16 I've noticed Bardems performances with Disney are rather half assed with the little mermaid. He acts like he's stoned and knows its disney, he doesn't have to try that hard.
I find myself disagreeing here. The first three films make a solid trilogy despite the first one not being planned as one. On Stranger Tides is an okay coda to the series and Dead Men is just...Not good cause you can tell Johnny is phoning it in.
After having watched Salazars Revenge. I can honestly say, i think if Pirates of the caribbean keeps this up, it may be as influencial and good as James Bond movies was in the 60s. Infact its just a legacy of its own now. Its just a really fun entertaining stuff. I am glad to be part of it. Johnny Depp is like our generation of Sean Connery in a sense
I went into _On Stranger Tides_ with zero expectations since I saw the first three to the end. Kind of enjoyed it for what it was rather than being mad over what I didn't get.
1:01:10 im glad this film exists ONLY bc of that idea of spontaneous marriage on a battlefield. Ive seen so much fantastic fanart and fanfics or even just prompt posts using that idea with other better characters and romances and it pretry much always hits. Probablh because if someone cared enough about the characters to make it, then there's something there to enjoy unlike with Will and Elizabeth, including being more like the kind of people to do something like that than the actual couple it was invented for!
Honestly, for all the shit Pirates 3 gets from dorky critics and some of the audience, it's actually my favorite of the series, and I'm going to explain why. While I admit, it drags on too long in some scenes, and it gets too dramatic at times, I have to admire the surrealism of the "pirate afterlife". There are so many clever ideas they brought to life in this movie. I also like the overall theme of pirates from around the world joining forces against an oppressive government. The idea is very similar to One Piece, where all pirates seek some form of freedom in a world ruled by a tyrannical World Government, and that's one of the most popular manga/anime of all time. One Piece is basically Pirates of the Caribbean, if all named characters had super powers, and the British Empire ruled literally the entire world (besides a few isolated countries). Although, even One Piece keeps most pirates neutral, and there are more factions at play in this complex story. It was much better explained in a book, in which Jack used to work for Becket who was a slave trader at the time. Jack quit and became a pirate because he knew slavery was messed up. That's how their rivalry began. I'll admit, had that backstory been in Pirates 2 or 3, it would have made his over- the- top death more satisfying. But to be fair, just the fact that Becket is even hanging children for associating with pirates would mean he's an extremist, even by those days' standards. The Pirate Lords were explained in detail in the bonus features, and their backstories were really cool. The music was also epic, taking the Pirates- theme into otherworldly directions, and I absolutely loved the Will/Elizabeth love theme (despite their blandness). The music is a journey on its own. All- in- all. I LOVE Pirates if the Caribbean: At Worlds End! While I do acknowledge it has some narrative problems, I still love it. It's a guilty pleasure, if you will. I will always see it as the epic conclusion to the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. Yes, trilogy. Pirates 4 was meh, and Pirates 5 was straight up bad, IMO.
They wrote books!? well how the hell is anybody supposed to know all of this cool stuff if they don't explain it in the movies and they don't know the BOOKS exist? That would have made the third movie a little bit better if we just. Knew this stuff from the movie and didn't have to go searching for books that I guarantee 90% of the audience DID NOT KNOW existed. Knowing that it kind of makes it a little bit worse for me. (I knew about the slave trader thing and about Jack leaving because of that, can't remember where I heard it from but it should have been mentioned in the second movie like you said.)
the movie actually cut one of the BEST character moments for Jack during his talk with Beckett. Specifically WHY he broke away from the East India Trading Company. It's because they wanted him to traffick people. The movie being At World's End.
The floating dress wasn't just focused on for the sake of focusing on it. It was showing how quickly someone can go from goofing off with their crew. to suddenly being dragged down to your death.
The second and third films are a lot better than people give them credit for if you ask me. In fact, Dead Man's Chest is my favourite in the franchise.
In the first movie Jack uses the comoass to navigate to the Black Pearl when docked next to the treasure cage. It was clearly meant to point towards sometbing.
There’s actually a purpose behind the jar of dirt, Tia told Jack to keep it so he’d be safe from the kraken, hence the line “You will carry land with you”
The Pirates movies (well, at least the first 3) hold a special place in my heart because of the... well, music 😅 I joined my school's marching band in 8th grade, and my previous music teacher told our director that I had a gift when it came to playing the drums (and I did lol, though didn't believe it at the time) and after an audition, my teacher immediately put me on the snare drum instead of starting out on bass for the first year or two until you show improvement. I also happened to be the very 1st female percussionist, but because of that, I was severely bullied by the entire drumline that 1st year. My 2nd year was the year we did The Pirates of the Caribbean show ❤ and omg, not only was it fun, but everyone loved the moves, the music, and it turned what was a traumatic time in my life, to fond memories. Not only that, but we went to Walt Disney World and performed the show there. And I played my heart out!! So much so, I was able to ignore my bullies which led them to finally leaving me be and, after a while, earned their respect as a musician 🥁

The *Pirates of the Caribbean* franchise will always be one of my *Disney* childhood favorites!

I am very half and half on Doug's takes, also dark shadows was pretty good
Right!? I don’t get the hate
Jack and Barbosa are the 2 reasons I loved the Pirates franchise.
The best things about the Pirates movies is the names. 'On Stranger Tides' is an amazing and evocative title, full of mystery and potential. None of which is in the movies, but the titles are great.
Might I make a suggestion for next March? How about a Muppet Month? You can review all the Muppet movies you haven't yet.
The first film will always be the best.
The 2nd and 3rd aren’t that bad either but yeah
Sometimes it's best to have just one sequels are just a money grabber.
@@Thespeedrap I dont agree. I think Pirates of the caribbean are as good as James Bond movies were in the 60s, it has become a great legacy of its own now. And hope they make more
@@Sparrows1121 As long as it has a good script to follow from it.
ran out of stuff to watch on RUclips. been rewatching always sunny for the 9th time in-between watching the new episodes. then I looked up nostalgia critic. thanks Doug!!
"I think only wrestlers have better entrances than him"
As an unapologetic wrestling fan this is fantastic lol
Seeing as the Pirates movie was supposed to be Monkey Island you can see how a lot of the clever writing crept in. Will was supposed to be Guybrush, Elizabeth was supposed to be Elaine and Barbosa was LeChuck. I think Jack was supposed to be Rum Rogers…?
Jack is more a cross between Otto and Stan
It’s so funny that tamera had the best jack sparrow impression
Jack sparrow going “oh she’s not told you” then immediately cuts to Scar on pride rock actually had me laughing so much I fell out my bed and still don’t know why that made me laugh so hard 😂
I must admit the first three pirates of the Caribbean movies were extremely entertaining the last two were just unnecessary add-ons to capitalize on the name for. 💵that being said you know they going to make more Pirates of the Caribbean movies for no reason.
💯💯💯. Exactly
True.
The 4 one is cool
First movie is a musterpiece of a adventure genre. Others... just exist.
A good film series with a phenomenal start, some incredible special effects, and some of the stories and character(s).
Thanks for this guys! Watched all of them when they cane out and this will be quite fun! Thanks For everything!😊😊😊😊❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉

1:32 "The only person they remember is Jack Sparrow"
**Me who had a hardcore crush on Commodore Norrington** ...I'll show myself out
YOU TOO!?
@@charliehorse8401 HECK YES!! Justice for Norrington! The way he went out was criminal, he deserved so much better.
57:30 there is a trail of smaller buckets leading to the larger bucket so they did show how Jones got to the big bucket.
Glad y’all are still making videos. RUclips legends!
I love these Pirates of the Caribbean movies!
1:30:17
I never expected Doug to make a Helluva Boss joke. I approve.
I always figured that will looked just like a young bootstrap bill not the present day version
I've got it! The next Pirates Of The Caribbean movie will be subtitled "Roll Tide".
But if it was dropped to a pg that means it wasn’t an R-rated movie. If it wasn’t released as an R rating, I don’t think it counts
I remember being in the theater when the first trailer for Pirates of the Carribean dropped to much audience amusement and laughter.
Honestly no matter what the pirates of the Caribbean movies will always be my favorite and I was very curious to what critic thought
Bloom you mean?
Rush needs his own movie
One of my favorite line from the first movie's climactic battle:
Elizabeth: "Whose side is Jack on?"
Will: "At the moment?"
I am loving LOVING this.❤.
These movies scream summer to me.
The bomb pirate made such a lasting impression that he made it into kingdom hearts 2 as one of the enemies you fight when you visit that world.
the 2 greatest dis-services of the story. 1) going past the 3rd movie and 2) not having Elizabeth live on the Dutchman, having them be immortal together, forever. while jack returns to the only life for him.... a pirates life!!
My probably favorite film series the order would be 2 1 3 I gotta see the last two again to pick where they go.Hans zimmer the crew didna great job with music You guys did great job I appreciate your guys's hard work
Thanks for uploading this video compilation it's absolutely hilarious and makes a fantastic late birthday present ❤
I feel like I'm gonna die on this hill...but f' it
I LOVE AT WORLD'S END AND DEAD MEN'S CHEST!!
Great compilation as always guys! You came through with them each time!🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
I don't think Jack's punishment was being surrounded by himself, I think he just went insane.
for Dead man's Chest, when Elizabeth falters and the compass points to Jack, I personally don't think it's that she desires him as a love interest but actually that she desires for something more than just being a Governor's Daughter, something more piratey and Jack is just that perfect inspiration as sure he's got his flaws... but what pirate doesn't, however his wit and skills are what lead her to that, even if in the end, she just chooses to abandon that life after Will gets the "Curse of the Escort of the Dead"....
and then, On Stranger Tides happen starting the ruin of the Pirates franchise
missed opportunity to use the old Jar Of Dirt remix and Why Is The Rum Gone remix, heck when you do Lord Of The Rings and Hobbit all by Peter Jackson, make sure to include the They're Taking The Hobbits To Isengard remix and also mention that Peter Jackson doesn't just make carrot eating cameos in the movies but also the Lego game adaptations
The movies are hit and miss but pretty fun. Worlds end is my favorite out of all of them
1:28:16 I've noticed Bardems performances with Disney are rather half assed with the little mermaid. He acts like he's stoned and knows its disney, he doesn't have to try that hard.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that says Care-ih-bee-en
I find myself disagreeing here. The first three films make a solid trilogy despite the first one not being planned as one. On Stranger Tides is an okay coda to the series and Dead Men is just...Not good cause you can tell Johnny is phoning it in.
"If the Krusty Krab opened a 10th location, it would look a little iffy."
No the third location would look a little iffy.
I love the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise all thanks to Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow.
Johnny Depp OWNED these movies
@@chasehedges6775Exactly. Why couldn't the movies be ALL about him?
The second and third movies make Will and Elizabeth more interesting
I was soooo disappointed that they never did a first viewing like why
They did for terminator and Spider-Man
Why couldn’t they do this
After having watched Salazars Revenge.
People really don't like worlds end? Honestly that one is my favorite of the bunch after black pearl
Please review the first SpongeBob movie
That movie is a childhood classic.
Fun fact Pirates Vs Ninjas started all started because of a halo 2 game. two teams, ones with swords and the other with rocket launchers.
55:52 Biden cameo is so on point 😂
My ranking:
1=3>2>5>4
I'm still surprised the compilation isn't the same length of a Pirates movie
Despite how many times I've watched these moives I never once noticed the call backs
I finally get it Geoffrey Rush is doing Johnny Rotten.
I will always have a soft spot for this franchise
One day we will invent a time machine, and go back in time to show prove once and for all if pirates did indeed go Arrrrr.
I can’t believe I spent my whole morning watching all these videos in succession to another, lol all is well, you got all the ad revenue lol
Jones got into the bucket by stepping in a line of buckets that can be seen in the immediate background. It's simple environmental storytelling.
But why is the rum gone?
This COMPILATION is shorter than ONE of the Pirates films.
the movie actually cut one of the BEST character moments for Jack during his talk with Beckett.
Good insight
I'll need a lot of rum to get through these awesome videos.
Why is the rum gone?
just clicked. preparing myself for the most epic nostalgia critic vid ever
There’s actually a purpose behind the jar of dirt, Tia told Jack to keep it so he’d be safe from the kraken, hence the line “You will carry land with you”
The Pirates movies (well, at least the first 3) hold a special place in my heart because of the... well, music 😅
I joined my school's marching band in 8th grade, and my previous music teacher told our director that I had a gift when it came to playing the drums (and I did lol, though didn't believe it at the time) and after an audition, my teacher immediately put me on the snare drum instead of starting out on bass for the first year or two until you show improvement.
Just love these movies!
….The first 3.
4 and 5 are pretty bad
Well the first 3. Sometimes 4 depending on my mood. 5 is a no thanks for me.
