Good morning, I don’t want to bore you with the same story but this has changed my life in so many ways and I want to explain. All of my life I have been a neat freak to the point of my friends have made fun of me. I have always said you do you and I’ll do me. HOWEVER, when hurricane Harvey hit our lives were in total shambles for a Whole year! We are now 1 1/2 years out from the storm and I cannot tell you how many times I have come to your site and it has literally calmed me down out of sheer panic!!! Thank you for your steadfast faithfulness! This weekend I even went to your video of your visit to your mums house. I was lonely for my mom and you two have a similar relationship as I do with my mom who lives 1200 miles away. God bless and keep you!
Love that Greek towel. Gives me happy memories of the isle of Spetses! My shiny sink greeted me this morning, and I'm just fluttering along this week. I've been doing the babysteps for a few weeks but had to hit the reset button a few times because I wasn't following the steps properly. I kept jumping ahead and trying to add several new habits at once. You can imagine how well that went -- the habits wouldn't set. I'm back to setting out my clothes for the next day and ready to take it BABY step at a time! My family is noticing such a difference. Thank you thank you THANK YOU for the tools, the motivation, and the inspiration. You are such a blessing to me, Dearest Diane! Enjoy your bike ride today!
I'm Dianne in Mobile--Alabama , USA I just started Flylady a couple of weeks ago and soon discovered you. I really enjoy what you do and the way you also demonstrate. Thanks!
Oh yes! Pretty jars are so tempting to keep. I have found it helpful to put tempting containers in the recycling bin. IF I find a use for it before recycling day, I can take it back out. Usually I just forget about it once it is out of sight.
Thanks Dear Diane for your motivation and guidance.Always appreciated. Cutest blouse ever!! The kitchen is my favourite zone. Maybe because everyone comments about how clean it is now #flybaby for 12 months. Wiped cupboards down, benches/counter tops, canisters, kettle, stove, microwave, windows, table cloth laundered and vaccumed & steam cleaned floor. It all took 25 minutes! Of course some of this was part of my Weekly Home blessing. Kitchen smells & Looks great now. So satisfying. Next time I will concentrate on exhaust fan , light fitting and base boards I use a splash of rinse aid in my spray mop with dawn and water so floors dry quick.
❣Hi, Diane, another key moment💡: there's no need to keep things, that are nice but not needed...really have to think about that! I'm knitting these towels, too, saw them once in Denmark in a holiday house! They last almost forever. This new one has a nice pattern...I'll make it and put away my 'stainy' light green one... While working I like to listen to my favourite radio channel, so I keep entertained and informed as well. RUclips is my 'cupoftea'entertaining, I miss too much with working along. Thank you for sharing, love, Monika❣
Loved the video. And learned something. Penny/apron. I have a friend that is starting flylady today for the first time. We are doing it together. On to shining my sink!!!
Drinking my coffee before work and actually laughing out loud! "Pick up ur feet please" and talking about several things cuz you had a great weekend. And so much of what u say is like you are in my kitchen.! Wanting to keep pretty jars etc. Thx for all you do.😄
I watch your videos while i have my morning coffee. I am useless without coffee in me so it’s wonderful. I get mentally motivated by you and liquid motivation from my coffee 😄 Here in the states, non toxic products are popular to. I love Mrs. Meyers brand because they always have fun seasonal scents that makes cleaning fun. Today i will be working in zone 2 . I took yesterday off ( i know, naughty me ☺️ but i needed a rest and relax day and my husband did most of what needed to be done for me) my DD11 and DD20 go back to school today after the holiday break so i will have the house to myself and can get things done quickly this way. First i will be bike riding to yoga and meeting a friend for tea then home to be a baby fly. Have a great day ! Thank you for the motivation 💗
Hi Diane You’re super jolly today! and it’s infectious. Have garnered some of that energy and I’m off to fill some storage bags with Christmas decorations. But only for 15 minutes 😁
I went to Flylady this morning for my missions and one was a 27 fling boogie (trash) in the kitchen.. I am proud to say I only had 1 thing to toss away and 2 things to ask my DS21 about that he left behind. Then I came to your page to follow along with you and I am done with my kitchen.. Now on to the HBH.. Enjoy your day!
I thought I would just listen/watch while I cooked dinner, but I also decluttered part of my counter and wiped down my tea and coffee things before the video ended. Yeah me! Thanks for chatting. 😊
Kitchen is good enough. Continuing with the two paper boxes beside my bed. Clockwise, 15- mins a day. Thank you for your continued joyfulness towards life and helping friends along the way. Make it a great day!
Thank you ! Great idea to focus on things that make it FEEL a lot has been achieved, as then other little stuff just gets done along the way! It feels less like a slog! 😃 Thanks for motivation! My apron, rug, hob filters, hob, dishwasher salt all DONE hurray ! Now (mostly) tidy kitchen now I can work and relax guilt free 💟 I needed help after 2 hrs procrastination this morning!
Hello Diane, thank you so much for your always uplifting and optimistic videos. I am an absolute beginner at flylady but I am already starting to see improvements in my attitude towards cleaning. I have been a perfectionist and a neat freak but I realised that these traits were worsening due to the pandemics... I have been spending much less time cleaning this past month thanks to you! I am much more relaxed and trying to incorporate some hygge into my life as well. And my house is still tidy and clean :)
Happy New Year from Luxembourg.Today I wanted to work in the Kitchen too, but I wasn’t really motivated...TILLLLLLLL NOW 😊 Thank You very very much Diane for sharing your videos and motivation😍😘
Re setting a timer, I have to share tonight's experience. How long does it take to turn leftover whole chicken into a pot of soup once it's boiled into stock and cool enough to handle? For me, it turns out to be one Mr Crowley, one Freebird and one American Pie. Singing (badly) and dancing (badly) all the way. I came through to find poor Mr Right with his headphones in lol
A good Monday morning pep talk, Diane. I watched after I got up at 6:35 and made my tea. Rainy wet day here, so I'm all set to do my WHB. I'll get to my kitchen zone tomorrow!
Oh dear. I have a problem. I just couldn't throw that pretty jar away! I'm really struggling finding the right balance working towards a zero waste lifestyle and clearing my clutter. I've restarted the babysteps this month though so hoping to get there... Thanks for these videos Diane. You keep me on track x
Helen Calvert I feel ya. I have a cupboard full of jars. However, I have connections to lovely ladies whom make jams and chutneys. So I periodically go through my jars and give them away to be reused. I hate throwing perfectly usable jars in the the recylcing. So when I rehome them I feel a lot better. Jars are also fantastic for freezing all sorts of thing in.
You can treat your wooden spoons and cutting boards with oil so they don't dry out and crack. I just put a small amount of oil on a paper towel and wipe it on the item. Add more oil to paper towel as needed. I use sunflower oil. But I would think you could use any oil you like. Also makes the item easlier to clean.
Still working my way to actually finding the kitchen counters but progress is being made. The rest of the family has been good about helping keeping up with the dishes (no dishwasher) so I've been able to slowly reclaim bits of space here and there. I work outside the home full time plus run a business at home so my time is extremely limited. Some days it's all I can do to wash the few dishes I do use (My husband does all the meal planning and cooking as I don't get home until 7 at night). I took today off to take care of some important errands and plan to try and get in a couple of 15 minute sessions around the house when I get back (the entire house is just one giant hot spot).
One thing I do each morning after I get done with coffee is wash out the carafe and prep it for the next morning so all we have to do is plug it in and walk away.
I did this when I received a new coffee maker, and stopped one day when I was in a rush and my good habit fell off. Since starting flylady, I'm back to cleaning it out directly. It makes such a difference to not have to wash a dirty old carafe!
I have a small laundry basket on the floor that I toss all my used towels and kitchen items in. I wash those separately on hot every few days. Today I am going to be cleaning my track lighting in my kitchen. I do that once a year, there are 3 removable lights that collect grease and dust (yuck). I am also trying to get out of "I could use that..." mentality. I have a very very VERY small kitchen (approximately 2 sq meter). I watched the Netflix series Tidying up last night and finally finished the series. It was good but looked like they rushed the last episode because the subtitles were stuck at the end. I need to declutter my kitchen utensil drawer. I totally love your videos and look forward to them daily. Here's to a clean kitchen.
I thank you Diane for your videos. You truly inspire me!! Over the holidays I had to work extra days because we had people on vacation; therefore, I have gotten behind in my Flylady System. I will continue to watch your motivational videos, and will be back in the groove soon:):) I know that you like to read mysteries. I am into the Gaslight Mystery Series by Victoria Thompson right now. Do you have any favorites? Thanks again for your inspiration:):)
Hi Ann! I often talk about what I'm reading but if you check out Day 4 of this playlist there are lots of suggestions, also from the lovely ladies here 😀 ruclips.net/p/PLxIYCyTLBED9kj9nE5giiKQIOgHOqp05D
😎👍Your videos have really helped me , stay focused on each task , and avoid being a distracted kitty mind..lol took your advice , from a previous video...and got me an extra large timer....it is great !! bigger than my Phone timer app. Can you make a video on labelling tips for kitchen items and storage bins...
@@DianeinDenmark Yeah, my family finds it humourous, I set up my timer...clean a room for 20min...do another 20min room with my new timer...and after a few days....now my family is borrowing my timer...to clean their rooms, clock their 1hr study time...and my daughter takes my timer to monitor how long her boyfriend arrives to pick her up and see how long it takes for her to get ready...my son uses it for his workouts in the gym and monitors when the next bus comes around....I guess its time to buy a few more timers...LOL ..
I enjoy your videos but I do use Lysol and bleach cleaners. This is why...my daughter got MRSA several years ago after she got cut on coral while deep sea diving in Hawaii. A leading MD in MRSA research/treatment told my daughter to stop using "green" cleaners and sanitize with Lysol or bleach. He told her that there has been an increase in MRSA infections due to the popularity of green cleaners.
If a friend gives you a gift you can't use, and you let it go, what is your response if she later asks you if you are enjoying the gift? I've got that issue w/ a good friend who spoils me with gifts, and I don't want to hurt her feelings.
PS. We just went through prescription and over the counters that are stored in the kitchen. Will be disposed of at the police station tomorrow. Many out of date or no longer used! Safer as well as space saving.
You can find the Flylady Zones here 🎉🎉🎉 www.flylady.net/d/zones/

Aww, thanks for sharing your story, Brenda - I'm so glad that Harvey is behind you now!!! 🎉
Diane, you are always inspiring and I am going through a difficult time right now, and taking your advice of one foot in front of the other.
Diane you have the best channel!! I’m always motivated to get to cleaning with my timer when watching. 👍❤️🙋♀️

I am happy to say that I am ahead on the kitchen for this week! Work continues on the garage.
Yay, go you, Jeanne! You are a rockstar with the work on the garage...I'm sure it's looking great by now!
Diane in Denmark Ugly but tidy. Plan on painting and coating the floor when it is warm enough in the springtime. Also want to put up a storage wall.

OK, but how awesome would a T.A.R.D.I.S tea towel be?
🎉🎉🎉
I’m a little bit confused about the weekly home blessing tasks like windows and mirrors - are those done just in the weekly zone? Thx!
Hi Rhonda! The weekly upkeep clean is for the high traffic areas of your house. My areas are hall/entryway, living room and kitchen.
I like you said Pinny for apron. Women and girls used to wear pinafores to keep their "good" dresses nice. Is this where the term come from?
Yes, "pinny" comes from the word pinafore 😃
