Actually Mark? I’ve taken another look at those Costa Rica Stones ... the big round ones? They have the same shape as the ones here at this site. But much smaller. Did sauropods use them for ballast in water? With all that gas from foliage building up. That mass may have been made for mostly water which may have meant floatation balance issues. What do you think?
The next video I am working on will show collector specimens. So you will see rough pieces that have been face polished. This will give you a good idea of what rough will look like when it's cut up or face polished.
Where was this video 6 months ago! Bought a couple of pounds and very little is actually usable😠. Bought in online auction so even more difficult to guess but this sure would have helped. Live and learn! Thanks for the vid!
That's one of the reasons I created this video. I purchased a lot of pieces that ended up being expensive lessons. I will be doing a couple more videos on this subject. The next one will be face polished rough and collector specimens.
Thanks for the interesting video on the dinosaur bone. Learned a lot. Many years ago cut - polished a few pieces. Love it.
This video has a lot of information I’ve been looking to find! Thank you for making such a insightful video Mark!
Glad it was helpful!

Thanks for the video, this is helpful. Would you consider showing what these samples look like if you cut them?

THANK YOU!
Have you heard of any dino bone found in TN?
No I have not, some beautiful paint rock comes out of there though! It's actually an agate but I think they named it paint rock?
