Ok, the whole snitching thing aside, Randall's dad is actually a pretty good dad, he remains invested in his son's life and wellbeing, and even when he was internally worried about his son not being like him, he didn't put that worry onto his kid or try to force anything onto him, and was open towards the idea of him having friends and was happy to meet them.
It's funny reading the original comments from 14 years ago when everyone hates Randall's dad for snitching on him to now a modern opinion where people see at least his dad was invested in his kid. Really shows how society has changed.
