As someone who did pay for this enclosure, it was a nightmare trying to get any replacement parts. my lid came with a big dent in it. Luckily it was still useable, but for how expensive it was I wanted a replacement lid, and didn't want to take it all apart to send it back as I was adopting a rescue hamster the next week. Amazon was so unhelpful and said all I could do was take it apart, send it back, and then when they received it they would send me a replacement. In the end I emailed bucatstate directly. They sent so many videos to me of them banging the lid to help me try and fix it lol, but it didn't work. Finally in the end they said they would send a replacement. 3 months later they sent me a whole new cage, so now I have a spare cage I guess lol, but not exactly quick so I'm glad it wasn't an emergency situation edit: also for those who wish to put the right amount of bedding in for hamsters, learn from my mistake lol. the bottom of my cage popped out under the weight, so I had to put heavy duty tape on the seams under the cage, and books under it to take the weight of the bedding
@amymaisie3426 I didn’t think it looked like you’d get the bedding depth below the door so it’s great that you actually can, however not if the bottom drops out. I wouldn’t be happy having to put a book under at that price. It’s also means it’s not stackable because the cage above would collapse onto the cage below, or you’d need a book between them ? Thanks for posting your experience.
I got the same problem! The cage couldn't bear the weight of the bedding (only 24cm depth of some aspen shaving and paper cotton). The funniest thing is I took the same solution LOL, which is putting some books under it.
It looks pretty and it's definitely nice to see more companies come out with bigger enclosures for small rodents, but yeah, there are definitely concerns. Mesh top would definitely be better and more hight, even bigger in floorspace would be nice. Can't wait to meet your new mice! 👀❤
I’ve got a black one for my winter white dwarf hamster. She seems to like it, but it does rattle when she uses her wheel a little too hard, and I wouldn’t have minded it being a bit bigger, but oh well. It does the job fine for now 😅
It's a quite decent looking cage, size doesn't look too bad (could be a little taller, as you say) and definitely on the upper end of cages you can buy atm. I really like having a front opening door. The lower half of my cage has that too and imo that's a very useful feature, ESPECIALLY in the first weeks or months with new mice or hamsters. BUT it has some issues that would cause me probably stay away or at least look around for other options before if I wanted to buy a cage instead of building my own: - the hole size. In Germany the recommended size is at 6mm if I remember correctly (it was definitely a few mm under a centimeter), part of that is of course to accommodate young and small mice. And I'd personally in most cases very much prefer a cage where I don't need to remember that I can't house any and all mice I might want or need to place in there without making adjustments (not that I mind that much in general, but the cage is quite expensive for having to make my own adjustments AND other people might also not have the skills or tools to do so) - ventilation. This one is a huge one for me. It does not look like it's enough ventilation for housing a whole group of mice longterm. Might be okay with a (smaller) hamster that doesn't produce as much ammonia as a group of mice, but for mice I'd feel uncomfortable with this amount of ventilation and would probably see if I can change out the whole lid for a diy mesh one (same point here about too expensive to have to do that and not an option for everyone) - ventilation issue 2: how good is it still when you also stack a cage on top? How close is that stacked cage and how much does it impact the already a bit too sparse ventilation? It's having me very worried about the cages that have another stacked on top. Don't get me wrong, the idea is great, especially for rescues and breeders (ethical ones I mean by this). Actually just went to look it up and just like with the niteangel stackable cages, it feels very little to me. At least for mice. I'm not 100% knowledgeable about the difference in ventilation for hamsters. Victoria Raechel has recently reviewed the niteangel stackable cages and seemed to be okay with the ventilation for hamsters iirc - another part of the ventilation openings: hanging things. Fully agree with you that it's quite limited and again, I'd very much make a mesh lid (insert same bracket text in here again). I personally can't even live with just a mesh lid to hang things and adapted my own cage to have mesh windows on the upper half of the sides too, so I can't imagine not even having the freedom of mesh to hang things and be fine with it (for mice, for hamsters it'd probably be fine in this regard) - replacement parts. An absolute must in my opinion. With a product this expensive it's such a shame when parts arrive damaged and there's no way to replace them except replacing the whole thing. That's not very environmentally friendly and totally unnecessary. I mean, if they only give out full sets, what happens to the broken ones that are sent back? The they end up in the trash completely? Also, some parts seem like they might wear down at some point, like the closures for the front door, what do you do when that happens and you have mice living in there? Maybe you've also even made some adjustments to the overall cage, like a new lid. Are you supposed to send it back or live with the issue now? - the front door closures in general. I can't tell all that well from the video how chewable they look. Would they withstand a mouse or hamster that is dead set on destroying them for long enough so they give up? Or would they be done within a few days and then you're sitting there, with a broken door that you probably need to tape on place for the rest of time (that you use it) because you can't get any replacements? Overall this thing costs about as much as my similarly sized (slightly bigger at 120x60x60 cm) first version of a diy cage. Both have front opening doors and a lid that can be opened as well. Mine used to not have as much space for bedding, doing that differently would not have changed the price in a significant way. Mine is much less flimsy, as its made from stable wood plates (coated plywood, so it's still pee resistant) and has mesh doors and a mesh top and therefore better ventilation and options for hanging toys. But it's a full diy from scratch, which requires tools, knowledge to work with them safely, time to come up with and build it. All things that aren't accessible to everyone in the slightest. So personally, as someone who got into building my own because of a lack of commercial cages that fit my needs as well as the needs of my mice don't see that would've been any different if this would've been an option. With the issues mentioned resolved though… I'm not so sure. Today I wouldn't switch over, even with the "optimised" version, but back then, I might not even have started building my own in the first place
I purchased three of these, all three came with the dented corner. I used a flathead screw driver to adjust the metal in order to fit the side panel. I also purchased the wheels and stacking accessories. My biggest concern is the lack of air flow, especially when stacked. 🤦🏼♀️😞
I really like my Neptonion terrarium. It has a fixed waterproof base and the glass sides can be disassembled. This means I can replace a side with acrylic if I ever want to attach a second enclosure via tubes.
Ventilation is my biggest bugbear about these. I at least want a fully open mesh top. I currently have a savic plaza and plexiglass panels. Really like the bucatstate and niteangel but i seriously have issues with the reduced airflow. Thanks for such a thorough review . Really appreciated I never thought about the rattle noise. Once the bedding is in it’s not as bad, maybe still a slight noise. My mice have destroyed my other enclosure so I’m tempted to see if I can either modify or make a new lid for this enclosure 🤔
Just got my three mice last night! They don’t have names yet but this morning two of them were sleeping in the hammocks up top and the other was sleeping in a little wooden hideout on the bottom. If anyone is by chance interested I will have an introduction video coming in maybe up to a week I just need to get good footage of all of them as some are less active and shy as others :) FYI: this is my first time ever owning mice so if anybody wants to watch my future video give me some feedback on the cage if you wouldn’t mind!
I personally prefer the one that niteangel released, it seems more heavy duty, has the mesh so less worried about escapes and ventilation, unless it’s a mouse enclosure on the bottom bunk because they leave a very small gap between them. Stackable cages is a step in the right direction but there are still improvements to be made
It seems that the design has been taken from Niteangel, only theirs is glass (unless you want to stack them, then the bottom one has a plastic front). I, too, would like something with more ventilation. I don't know why someone doesn't make something with at least the 2 side panels made of the same material as a glass tank topper. The toppers are made of durable mesh that allow for air flows and they could be painted white for a better esthetic.
Love the setup! They should make replacement panels, since some parts seem prone to breaking Yesterday I got new mice, and after a check of the 4 new ‘girls’ were not all girls, I got them from someone who took them from a friend who bought them but couldn’t keep them, but who also couldn’t keep them long term, so now I’ve 3 young female mice and a boy! But luckily they also were selling their 100x50cm tank for €30, so now I can keep him long term as well once his sisters are with my current 2 girls ( super unlucky recently, I went from 4 mice to 2 in a few days, and one is nearly 2, so I was rushing to find Somsone with mice!’

Thank you for this video! I was looking at this enclosure recently and contemplating whether to get it for my mice but it is so expensive! I am worried about assembling it, but looks like it is quite manageable from your video.
Do you think the cage can support the weight of a cat (or two) lying down on it lol? Also would you say this is better, worse or same as the note angel cage :) ?
It’s too small for hamsters and the minimum bedding depth is 10” so that may fall out of the front door when opened. It would of been great if they’d sent you multiple so you could show them stacked. Their loss, but great review thanks 🙏
It meets the minimum requirements for hamsters in the U.K. it definitely would be better for all species if it was a bit taller / deeper. I’ve just seen someone who put the right amount of bedding in for hamsters say that it burst under all the weight of the bedding 😳
I was interested in this enclosure but due to the front opening you have a limited height for the substrate, unless you would not use that door, in which case, that feature is quite useless. For a dwarf Hamster it is big enough, for a Syrian Hamster to small. I stick to my Rodipet LaOla enclousre. I am not too keen on that metal frame either.
I pull out my hamster wheels every night to wipe them down - not sure how a full size Niteangel wheel would fair through the opening. Love the idea of stacking them, though you can also get industrial shelving (for garages) that fit 40g tanks. If you do stack them, and have them full, how heavy are they in order to un-stack and do a bigger cleaning?
I’ve got 10 inch niteangel wheels and they just about fit width ways through the front door so it’s possible, but then again they only just fit in the enclosure all together without touching the lid 🙃 that was my worry too, the stacking seems great but by itself with no bedding it’s heavy and hard to move around so all cleaning would have to be done through the front doors
Emiology I need your advice I got new rats two boys I've had them for a few days but with one of them as soon as I open the cage he runs away and won't come out of hiding what do I do
Niteangel just released one very similar to this that you can connect side to side. They are a fair bit pricier than this but they’re glass and a lot sturdier. And they have a mesh top with lots more ventilation. Side note: I wouldn’t recommend anything less than two put together purely because of the square footage if you have a colony over 4-5. One single one is only about 500 square inches
It would be blowing away from them, to move air out of the enclosure. Place a flat, square, computer fan on it's back, with the blades blowing air OUT of the enclosure, to pull air from the enclosure, which should circulate fresh air into the enclosure
It seems more effort than it’s worth. Is it even 100cm? The base doesn’t look very strong because it’s bowed (evidenced by the way the lid also bends). Just buy a secondhand tank. I have 8 female mice in a Juwel Rio 240 litre tank (121x41x55cm) that I bought secondhand for £110. I built a custom lid for it with perforated steel, which is stronger than wire mesh, but still allows for good ventilation. A 240 litre tank is heavy (it’s 50kg when empty), but I have it on a low-ish unit so it’s easy to access.
Tanks or diy cages I think are always the best, currently I’ve a detolf and soon I’m setting up a tank ( not sure on the measurements, it’s over 100x50cm ) flr mice! Their so easy to clean too!
Just got this cage, but I can’t seem to install the transparent front door. The small transparent locks were easy, but the bottom part that should stick to the front door doesn’t have anything to stick too???
@@Emiology Thx for the answer! My gf and I chose to superglue it instead, would be too much work to send it back and get a new one. I figured it must have been a failure from the company production.😅
Ooof, seems like a knockoff of the niteangel stackable cage. I've had the niteangel cage since it was first announced because the stackable theory sounded awesome, and ive never had an issue with the cage since 😊
Could you stack two as one enclosure? So use the bottom one just for bedding for a Syrian and then the top on decorate with hides, sand bath, enrichment etc like a classic enclosure. So they have like 12+ inches of bedding
Absolutely not. Rats need way more space and ventilation. And VR actually reviewed the niteangel version, which in my opinion, is a far superior version, purely because of the sturdiness and amount of ventilation
@@cloudyskyz2237 *:whispers:* it's a white label product, where companies just put their brand onto a blank factory item from China. So it's the same thing. Also: why are you getting snippy with me? I just asked a question, and one I thought I implied that I already knew the answer to.

It was from primark last year! Technically a pyjama top but I wear it out 😂
@@Emiology I would too! I love the shade ☺️xx
What's the bedding you used in the cage? Love ur videos ^^
Snowflake shavings 😊
Hi, i have a question, what type a cage should i buy for 2 rats?❤
Just got this cage, but I can’t seem to install the transparent front door. The small transparent locks were easy, but the bottom part that should stick to the front door doesn’t have anything to stick too???
Weird! Mine came already attached?
@@Emiology Thx for the answer! My gf and I chose to superglue it instead, would be too much work to send it back and get a new one. I figured it must have been a failure from the company production.😅
upgraded from critter trail to this tank
Good!
Ooof, seems like a knockoff of the niteangel stackable cage. I've had the niteangel cage since it was first announced because the stackable theory sounded awesome, and ive never had an issue with the cage since 😊
Cool review.
hiii!!
Could you stack two as one enclosure? So use the bottom one just for bedding for a Syrian and then the top on decorate with hides, sand bath, enrichment etc like a classic enclosure. So they have like 12+ inches of bedding
I don’t think so! When they’re stacked there’s a bit of a gap between the lid and the start of the next one
does anybody know where i can buy the screws that support the cage?? to buy separately as i already have the cage
Hahah, already watched Victoria Raechel's vid on her assessment for hammies :D
Do you think it's absolutely not suitable for rats? (cos it's a tank)
@@jack-a-lopium it’s not the same product. Niteangel is based in Singapore. The stacker cage is made out of plastic and glass with wire mesh. This cage is made out of wood and acrylic.
And idk what you mean by me being snippy. I simply used your wording of “absolutely not”.
@@cloudyskyz2237 Right! They just look exactly the same, it's a coincidence. One company should be suing the other for breach of copyright and about two dozen patent infringements, let's listen...
How mice mice maximum do you think could fit comfortably in this cage
Having had a group of 3, and then a group of 6 in it temporarily for a week during their introductions I wouldn’t want more than 3 in there due to the ventilation the smell builds up quite fast 😭
what are all those cute thi mg s hideout and things you put in there
They have a earlier video explaining everything in the mouse cage.
@@thejokerlovesdogs2723 I'm curious which one, I want to get several things
Is that Nelly playing in the background?
Who's Nelly?
@@Emiology lol a an American Rapper… sounded like one of his songs haha! Loved the video though! I just got a Syrian hamster and I’m already looking to upgrade her living space. I’m so grateful for all of the creators here that are giving so much information about how to care for these precious critters!!
Is the background music that song from Mario Odyssey?!
It’s a non copyright lofi song but could’ve taken inspo from that
Is it ok for rats?
No, rats shouldn't live in tanks or similar setups
Rats shouldn’t be in tanks they should be in tall cages! :)
Thanks, I was just checking. My rats have a tall cage w wire walls, but I dont know where to put them when I clean their cage and I didn’t know if putting them in a tank would be easier than leaving them in their playpen.
@@Tobithepurpleducc They're usually fine to wait in a carrier if you're not able to watch them while you clean the cage :) Sometimes i let mine just run around but they get in the way so they have to sit in a carrier for a bit
I've seen a lot of people use the midwest for rats! I dont know what Emiology uses for their rat cage set up, but i've seen that cage be used a lot for rats!
me regretting my use of money with knitting stuff and a magazine😂😂😂😂
Would the mice ever climb up to the stick on the top?
They were up on it this morning 😊
Saya dapat menonton video Anda sepanjang hari ❤❤
Hi! I have a question, would this cage be good for my two rats? They’ll grow out of there old cage soon and I’m looking for a good replacement. Love your videos!
No rats can’t live in tank type setups, not enough ventilation
Thanks! @@Emiology
How many mice could live in here?
I wouldn’t go more than around 5
🤍
First! I love your videos! Can I get pinned pretty please? ❤❤
