Always choose soft tires, they don't wear out that fast and can handle 3 races easily. on rwd cars turn rear toe in (and only rear) to +0.4 or +0.6. will help an extreme amount with spinning out.
I usually look at how long the stages until the next service and pick my tyres based on that. Two short stages is softs, one short one long is mediums, and depending on how rough my tyres have been taking it I might opt for hards for two long stages. I feel like tyre compound is only a huge factor in performance when you're on asphalt though tbh.
Dirt has to be the most challenging racing game ive ever played. I love it tho. It has me sweaty by the time i hit the finish line. Great tips. Thanx for the video #100

And lets be real, the graphics are shit, the sounds are good, better in other games tho, and you have a lot of tracks, but not big track quality. dirt rally 2.0 in my opinion,(at least on gravel) is 100x better than rbr
The best way to master this game (for wheel users) is to drive with the correct dirt driving technique. I struggled when I first played this game and then after about an hour of studying youtube videos posted by the Team O'Neil Rally School on how to drive fast in the dirt I applied the technique to the game and my times instantly improved and I started pushing top 100 times like a week later.
For those of you who don’t want to feel like you’re cheating with dimming the graphics, play the night stages actually at night and turn off your room lights. For me it gives it more of a real deal feel and I found it a bit more easier than just turning up the brightness. Of course if you’re a daytime racer maybe this doesn’t apply.
I did exactly the same. Best tip, without the feel of cheating (actually it's really not cheating, it's just more authentic that way... like in real life.. you wouldn't turn on the lights in the car when driving at night, right?
Alternatively, get a good pair of blackout curtains. Then you can make your room pretty damn dark during the day. It takes a bit of the realism out of it, but it's adequate for just seeing better. Overall they're a good investment regardless imo, whether it be for sleeping in on the weekends or avoiding being woken up too early by the sun in summer.
Restarts in career mode aren't limited if you pause during the stage and quit to main menu. When you load the stage again you will be at the start. I don't recommend doing this however because I have fallen in endless restart loops and you stop being afraid of mistakes and crashes.
I spent like 1 hour in a test drive with the Mini just to be able to control the car on dirt roads (i wanted to start without any assists which was a questionable decision)
@@hoffi6792 It's better to play withous assists. When racing on tarmac, a traction control would be kinda helpful for beginners. But in rally, you want to slide the car into the corners. So traction control won't help you at all. Abs on the other side can be helpful sometimes.

little trick i found out, if you quit to menu and re-enter the career event it puts you back at the start of the stage you were on. letting you restart even when having no restarts left
Personally I like to stick to dirt 4 due to being more suitable for controller play as I don’t have a wheel but this game drives supprisingly better than I expected though. Ah yes the brightness cheese I very much need that as I naturally look muck further ahead than others.
I thoroughly enjoy Dirt Rally 2.0 on the controller, I don’t expect to have the best times and just enjoy the variety of different cars and stages. I suggest you give the game a try without any expectations.
I just got this game and I was doing fine so far but when I got into the 80s car the power is just sooo much for me for whatever reason. I appreciate the "take it slow" idea. I keep trying to tell myself that and I always end up not doing it. Thank you!
I just do the time trails which get uploaded online to the leaderboards. I do time trails over and over again, with various cars on various stages. I don’t bother with career mode. But hey, whatever turns you on.
Regarding the joker lap: On a bunch of circuits, I just leave the joker lap until I mess up the corner, and then a are better positioned for it. Can also work quite well, and helps to loose less time
Tip in regard to restarts: just force-close the game to your systems menu and restart! You’ll start at the same event and it only takes me about 1.5 min to restart on my PS4 slim. A bit of a cheat like the gamma trick, but has saved me loads of times.
You don’t even need to reset the system. As long as you have one or more restarts remaining, you can quit to the event menu and return to the stage that you quit from, no penalties.
After about 3 days i got really good at this game on controller then i was wanting something more so I tried to play multiplayer and lets just say it didn't go well
I much more liked the feel of Dirt rally 1 vs 2.0. Much more control of the car using real mechanics. Better setup options. Harder rallies, especially the bumps and jumps, camber and width of the track.
I also found winning Rally Cross races is far more easier than winning in normal Rally. Also the repair costs are way lower. That’s at least what I can say from experience. So for just making money, I guess Rally Cross is the way to go.

Hey boys. Been playing this game for a week now but it feels like my car never grips the ground. Even when i am going straight. İ always slide or hit the sides even when i am trying to keep the car in the middle.
You are probably just going too fast for the corners and/or not entering the turn with correct timing. Also even the tiniest turns can cause you to lose control of the car when you a pushing 200 km/h. This is true in particular if the there are bumps or crests in the turn. Even if you aren't going fast enough to actually jump, even a small crest effectively lifts your car from the ground a little and severely reduces your traction. A 5 left on flat ground with ok camber you can take at near full speed, but the same turn over a crest you will have to slow much more or you will slam into the outside.
Take it slow. Your car also won't stay straight if you don't fix your wheel geometry but your can also try adjusting the camber and toe angle to aid with staying straight
Dude I have the game one year and when I got it my average kilometres where 50-60 on one stage now I take corners with 80 kilometres and on straight I go full speed and on open turns I go like 120
In regards to crew... I took your advice and I am investing in my crew, but I am wondering about several things related to the crew... #1.... I have maxed Co-Driver .... Maxed Crew Chief .... Two engineers one about 3☆ overall and one new Acquisition and roughly 1.5☆ overall I am wondering what is the advantage of having two engineers, or three or four. #2. In order to unlock engine tuning levels, is that only possible through Championship play or can it be done other ways? Like Custom event etc?

I have a British co driver, Russian Chief, spaniard engineer and an aussie engineer.. id prefer them to all be from UK and Aus.. also how do you fire someone to hire someone else? And is it really worth upgrading them?
I don't think it's _too_ cheaty to turn the brightness up if your headlights go out.. In reality, our vision adjusts to the dark in around 10 minutes. After that we can see a lot better in low light. I think bumping the brightness up (temporarily) could be considered an easy way to simulate that. This is a simulator after all, so why not?!
So if I fully upgrade My Team members, the repair costs for the cars will be free or cheaper? Because I find it kinda hard to earn money in the game and I wanted to test it out the other cars, but the repairs are real expensive imo
any tips on the inconsistent co driver pace note calls? every now and again ill be airborne and here him say hairpin left tightens and the next thing im in a tree when normally ill have like 3-5 seconds to get ready for the hairpin, i was kind of hoping you could upgrade to a more capable co driver but that doesn't seem to be the case
Well, I was very excited about this game but in the last 4 days since I got it for Christmas, the servers are now down for the 3rd time, and you can't even play single player without connecting to the servers. I only paid $12.85 for DiRT Rally 2.0 GOTY edition so this is not about money, but the principle of the matter.

I don't agree with your tip for Spain. I use the gutter all the time and I never got a puncture. It's almost like in initial D sometimes when I feel like the gutter is helping turn faster than I should be able to

jacob billups Yeah you’ve pretty much got it. Avoid damaging the car too much and there will be only minor damage to fix, and if you focus on training your team, whatever damage that is will be repaired much more quickly
Sorry if I’m a little slow on the uptake on this one. Is this just for between events or also for the service stages? After seeing this I tried it on a service stage, refused the repair (had moderate body damage, some lights out, and light radiator dmg) and the car rolled up to the next stage looking the same. I have about half of the staff fully upgraded. I feel like I’m missing something lol thanks for the help though
You didn't notice a difference with car upgrades? I went from 4-6 seconds ahead to 40 seconds in a longer section. On the 3rd event I had amassed a 1 min 40 sec lead by the end. I assumed it was due to upgrades. Is it not?
My experience has also been that car upgrades don't really do that much. You for sure were also entering turns better to shave off that much time. I think also the early low tier cars benefit much more than the later performance cars. They are already monsters out of the gate and the extra engine power is something that most people will not be able to make proper use of without flying off the track instantly.
HAHA that brightness tip does not really work in VR! the other day went into final leg with no headlights on Australia with clouds covering the moon, I spent most of my time looking out my side window following the red and white tape. In VR it was very very hard to the point you were just listening to the co driver and hoping for the best as out your front window is nothing but pitch black.

Yeah the tire implementation is not too good. Anything other than soft seems to handicap with no advantages.

I wear out my softs too much for that, but I agree that you mostly use softs and the rest of the times mediums. I’ve never had to use hards..

Same here, haven't played racing games since the old colin mcrae rally on ps1, but now I've picked up dirt 2.0 and enjoying immensely.

I love the realism. You know like in real life when you slightly nudge the stearing wheel at 19mph and spin uncontrollably off the road.

i used the brightness trick but to "not cheat" i only let myself turn it up to 100%, usually i have it at 60-70

Yeah, I play on keyboard and manage to get 1st or 3rd in the first few, but then my broken headlights caused me to abandon.

You didn't notice a difference with car upgrades? I went from 4-6 seconds ahead to 40 seconds in a longer section. On the 3rd event I had amassed a 1 min 40 sec lead by the end. I assumed it was due to upgrades. Is it not?

My experience has also been that car upgrades don't really do that much. You for sure were also entering turns better to shave off that much time. I think also the early low tier cars benefit much more than the later performance cars. They are already monsters out of the gate and the extra engine power is something that most people will not be able to make proper use of without flying off the track instantly.
There is also "legal" cheating in career via killing the game and restarting it. You will get your retries back.

HAHA that brightness tip does not really work in VR! the other day went into final leg with no headlights on Australia with clouds covering the moon, I spent most of my time looking out my side window following the red and white tape. In VR it was very very hard to the point you were just listening to the co driver and hoping for the best as out your front window is nothing but pitch black.
