Honestly, that by itself makes this version of the death note very interesting.
It was a "Take that" To how Light and other Death Note Holders defaulted to Heart Attacks, while saving the more creative kills for more tense moments.
@@Shanethefilmmaker reason it defaulted was because the death notes where a natural thing to that worlds order. Writing how someone died was the work of a god of death, but they where lazy so it had a default to finish the job. Light just kept the heart attack as his signature so everyone knew it was his doing, and so he could kill discretely when needed.
I say the shinigami got bored with "boring" death that human write, and want to spice things up
It's a better rule then the shit ton of rules in the live action movie Netflix msde

From the get-go, the easy offs are impossible to repeat. Doing what Light did when he started brainstorming names would be a lot harder

I actually like it a lot the more I think about it. You can't just write out a few hundred names at a time and just have everyone have heart attacks. You actually have to think each kill through more and more as you go. Kinda makes it even more evil than the original because you're gonna quickly run out of the painless deaths.
Now I just wanna see Milhouse in the Misa like role.

I don't know, I think Ralph would be L, as much as he was in love with Lisa, he's also the smart one to fight her. I believe that someone more popular and beautiful will be Lisa's puppet.

@Balmug Dude, the characters fit very well. Bart is not an idiot, he's just lazy in body and mind, give him something like this and he's Light Yagami. Lisa is too smart for her own good and much like Bart, she is childish and hates to lose. Krusty as Ryuk was merely because they look alike.

@Balmug Let's see, Light killed Raye Penber just not too long after Raye was about to inform his superiors that Light is cleared as a suspect. Before that when he took L's bait with Lind L. Tailor, not only did he take an obvious trap, but he went so far as writing the name in giant letters for no other reason than to have an outward expression of rage. Not only that, but he honestly does not believe that what he is doing is wrong. Sound familiar? That's Bart Simpson in a nutshell. Every prank he pulled no matter how harmful or dangerous, he refused to take full responsibility because it was funny to him. The results of which had many babysitters quit for reasons of mental health as well as his own sister at one point file a restraining order against him. Light Yagami is basically Bart if he got his act together, but was still an evil brat. L on the other hand, despite being the "Hero", is an insufferable genius, which literally fits Lisa more than Bart. The one thing they have in common, they are childish and hate to lose.
@Balmug Also don't compare twilight to anything ever. They didn't bother parodying it because even they thought it sucked and to those saying it's silly to say it sucks now, screw them, it sucked then, it sucked now and those trying to do damage control are too little too late.

The sad thing is that’s objectively the truth. That’s how awful the Netflix version is.
I didnt even bother. 2 minutes in and it had already lost me. Didnt even bother to give it a fair chance. Same happened to cowboy bebop live action. Halfway into the first episode i was gone for good, although they perfectly casted spike. Its kinda sad that they go for the cashgrab like that. Peoples imaginations are literally infinite, why mess with work thats already done (and better) by someone else? Do something new. Take invincible: it takes cues from a lot of other pieces, but its its own thing and it garnered quite a cult following in a short time.
@Formarotica oh i understand why they do it, hence calling it a cashgrab, but it doesnt sit with me. As the saying goes: "nothing ventured, nothing gained", which is precisely what happens with these rehashes, remixes and remakes. A few years in, no one even remembers them, except to bash them. Another good example of it being done right is cobra kai, which is neither a rehash nor a remake, but rather a revival. Getting most of the original cast back, uniting new ideas and concepts with old ones, it all worked wonderfully to create a production that doesnt feel like a cashgrab at all, it feels like something new that is very faithful and respectful of the original. Not only did they get the respect of oldtime fans, they also managed to bring in a lot of new fans to the franchise. But i agree with you, creativity is often stiffled by fear, but its even more stiffled by greed, if you ask me.
There was a Japanese live action show way before the Netflix live action & obviously it's much better I never seen the Netflix one (since someone told be Light was replaced with a dumbass & that it doesn't follow the plot vibes at all) but majority of people bring that one up as 'the live action' so if people want to see a good live action there actual is a real series of it, was made in 2015.
Best part about this, they don’t even need to increase Lisa’s ego for the part. Heck, they may have to DECREASE it to make it work!

To those who don't remember the rules of the death note. Here's a little refresher.
Death can only occur to those who's name is written in the notebook when two conditions are met: the writer must know the true name of their target as well as have the image of said target in their head as they are writing in the notebook.
Meaning. If a person name is John Doe and Doe isn't their last name but the face matches, the death will not occur.
And if John Doe is the true name yet the image in your head doesn't match, then death will not occur.
This happened after Light tried to kill one of Ls body doubles think he was L.
If a specified cause of death is not written after the name in thirty seconds., the person will simply die of a heart attack.

At fist glacé one may thank Bart would be a better fit in the role of the Light However once Lisa’s character is analyze she’s perfect

To shift the art style to one this clean for a tree house of horror episode segment is dedication to a bit that I must applaud.
I read that its the orignial death note team who penned this, which would explain why its so on point.

@@Gioylui i think the treehouse of horror episodes have stayed mostly consistent and i think there have been a few episodes that came close to the golden era but it wasn't until the Disney take over that they started getting actively bad

Death NOTE rules (some anyway)
1) The human whose name is written in this note shall die.
2) If the cause of death is not specified, the victim will die of a heart attack in 40 seconds.
3) If the cause of death is specified, you have 3 minutes, 20 seconds to fill in the details.
4) This note will not take effect unless the user has the victim's face in their mind when writing. Therefore people sharing the same name will not be affected.
5) Anyone who touches the Death Note can see and hear the shinigami who it originally belonged to.
6) You lose all memory of the Death Note if you give up ownership. Though only if you have used it; if you have not, you will remember.
7) You can regain your memory by touching the Death Note but will lose memory again unless you own it. Memory restoration can be done four times per Death Note.
8) Only six Death Notes can be active in the human world. A seventh will be inert until one of the original six returns to the shinigami realm.
9) Gods of Death can see the true names and lifespans but are under no obligation to inform humans.
10) You may trade half your remaining lifespan to a shinigami in exchange for having your eyes upgraded to shinigami sight.
11) Relinquishing the Death Note also undoes the shinigami eyes deal. But lifespan traded away does not return.
12) You cannot use two different pages for writing a victim's name. Though the front and back of a page count as the same page.
13) Any clippings taken from the Note hold the power of the whole note.
14) Anything can be used to write so long as it's legible; blood, cosmetics, ink, lead and so on. (Its unknown if using a page as printer paper works)
15) You can write the cause of death and then add names later.
16) If a human purposely writes a name wrong four times they will die.
17) A human will be immune to a
Death Note that has their name misspelt four times in it.
18) The human who uses the note goes to void upon death
19) Humans selling a Death note for monetary gain will die, along with the person who bought it.
20) If two notes are used on the same person at the same time, the time of death the owner writes takes precedence
21) The pages of a Death Note do not run out; even if it looks like a finite book
22) If the book is destroyed, you retain memory but the shinigami is no longer perceived and returns to the shinigami realm.
23) People under 3 and over 80 are immune.
24) Shinigami steal the lifespans of victims, but humans cannot.
25) A human with the shinigsmi eyes cannot see their own lifespan and those other death note owners.
26) Each death must be physically possible. (So no shark attacks on the toilet)
27) Victims cannot draw pictures of people that they've never seen.
28) Victims can be made to write word-for-word a message written in the Death Note. But it must be something realistically possible for them to think.
29) Shinigami die if they save a human life by killing whoever is meant to kill them. Their lifespan goes to said human.
30) No matter how realistic, drawings of people do not work for the shinigami eyes. Sunglasses and half a vertical face face acceptable for seeing a name with the shinigam eyes.
31) A victim can be controlled for 21 days before the note kills then.
32) If you write "dies by disease", you must allow realistic time to elapse for said disease to take effect; otherwise they simply die of a heart attack.
33) Aliases don't count as true names.
Conjure) Its unknown if legally changing a name will affect what is seen by the shinigami eyes; but since the human in question has chosen that to be their real name, it likely does.
34) Shinigsmi CANNOT inform humans about other notebooks in the human world. To do so will be met with fatal consequences.
35) Shinigami are obligated to stay in the human realm until the first human who picked up their Death Note dies. Or gives up ownership.
Observation) Shinigami attached to notes can be swapped; so long as a human and two notes are involved.
36) Even examined by the finest forensic technology, the note is indistinguishable from human world notes
37) If a victim is interrupted while under the notes orders, they die of a heart attack instead.
38) If accidents and suicides are chosen to kill a victim, they will be negated if others could end up dying. Therefore a heart attack will happen instead.
39) You have 490 days to keep ownership if you lose or have the note stolen from you.
40) You may lend the note, but if you die ownership transfers to the borrower.
41) Thieves become the new owner if they kill the note owner
42) Shinigami have a guide book for the note, which they are only allowed to tell the contents of to humans. Lending it is a big no no.
43) Shinigami aren't the cause of all deaths. Humans die naturally.
44) You cannot kill a shinigami with the note. Shinigami have tried, particularly when in a foul mood.
45) Spare notes are meant to be turned over to the shinigami king, but he can be tricked and bribed into letting spares to be kept.
46) Shinigami don't know everything about the note. You have to experiment to find out the note's limitations.
FAKE RULES
1) Once you use this note, you must write a name every 13 days or die yourself.
2) Destroy this note, or make it unusable, and anyone who has touched the note will die.

People think it's Bart because of the hair, but I highly doubt it is considering he has a completely different voice and name. They'd just add scary effects to the Bart voice if it were him. Really hoping they're going with L Barto because it's too good not to use.

I've never even watched Death Notes before. Hell, i'm not even watching anime at all, but i still want to see this episode. Seeing Simpsons in more "humanish" style is interesting.

@@theshlauf Dude, Light never cared about Society's problems. Literally everything he said throughout the show that merely justified his use of the Death Note and in turn justified his murders. His real reason for even trying the Death Note out, was the same reason Ryuk left it there. He was bored. Bart is literally the type of character that would kill people out of sheer boredom.

Literally every single prank he's ever pulled on Homer and Lisa, literally scream "Just fucking die already." Homer falls into an open grave, Bart tries to bury him. Lisa tries to preach global warming, Bart makes fart jokes and nearly drowns her in the the melted glacier. He's hated her since the beginning, even going so far is trying to mail her to another country.
As a huge Death Note fan, I'd actually love watching a full sequel series like this. "You may not kill the same way twice" especially could bring some interesting potential.

My guess is really depends on the specifics of that rule. Is it a hard rule? Or is it flexible it depends on the specifics of the example of choking.
