  • Despite their age, ‘piano brothers’ Lucas and Arthur Jussen already belong to the international cream of the crop. True masters of interpretation, they bring out the best in each other on stage. In this lunch break we are invited along to Debussy’s world of sounds, inspired by exotic faraway lands and nature. A short piano duet by 19th century composer Mendelssohn is the comical conclusion to the afternoon.
    Program
    Debussy | Six Épigraphes Antiques
Mendelssohn | Andante & Allegro Brillante, op. 92

And now a thank you for the Mendelssohn! The energy... the sense of rhythm...the sparkle, and the playing of the pauses - simply wonderful.

Superb...the pedalling in the Debussy is an object lesson for all pianists who play Debussy.

The nuance at 24:04 in the Mendelssohn is the most beautiful moment I have ever heard in my life. This performance is epic and will never be surpassed or even equalled. OUTSTANDING and SPECTACULAR PLAYING !

The wonderful interview afterwards reveals the deep humanity and mature level of thinking of both of these young men. It is really frightening what can happen to an artist when he or she no longer has an audience! For an artist, a long period of isolation can result in a kind of spiritual and technical death. That's why we must all pray that we will be free of this virus before it can destroy all of our continuing journey towards Beauty.

Not Debussy's most inspired work; well-played quite obviously, but it seemed like stream of consciousness writing in literature a bit of a hodge-podge.. I really enjoyed the Mendelssohn, again. I am sure Felix would have loved to have heard it too, though who knows, perhaps he did. The interview was great as well- thanks for the English subtitles. Thank you all concerned.

Everyone always gushed about RUclips performances. I don't get it. I find the Debussy far too percussive.
