Such a good idea to revisit the basics every once in a while as you are continually getting new viewers, some of whom will be new to prepping. I think one of the best things to beat "food fatigue" would be alcohol. Yes, spices, sauces and a variety of items - but a good glass of wine with a meal makes all the difference.

I have taped the recipe suggestions and cooking times from the packets of lentils, peas etc to the side of my bulk storage buckets. I find it easier than trying to find them online or in books. When we actually come to needing our preps it's possible we won't have internet access anyway!

I put my flour in large glass sweet jars & you can add dried bay leaves to protect against flour weevils.. in fact I store everything in glass jars ...some are large kilner type with the rubber ring seals & clips.

Glass jars are great but very expensive plus if you are stocking up for long term they will take a lot of room

Same for rice. Debating on other stuff in mason and kilner jars for storage. (The bayleaf thing for other grains and pulses...don't want any bugs.)

@@AnasFoodLifestyle good point..but most of mine have been sourced from charity shops & thats how I've stored them all for years .. I store them all on shelving..no longer have the luxury of a pantry & mylar bags are on my list..

You are lucky to get jars from charity shops, all I normally see is old fashioned and shite glassware that none wants. I would love to find sone bargains , point is, people must be vigilant, especially if we are looking out for something !😊

I prefer the coffee creamer as I can pre mix the coffee and creamer in the mug the night before, then just add the water in the morning and it doesn't curdle like the milk powder, I also use it in my bread making.
It has a higher calorie content than powdered milk, which in a SHTF situation might be a good thing but don't tell my doctor 🙂
Good video Ana, many prep channels forget that we were all new to this at one point

I make my coffee with small amount if evaporated milk( tinned). I would though even in tins this can go off. I started about 2 years ago and forgot to rotate the tins. When I opened it did not taste nice. It was Supermarket brand though.

We always enjoy watching your uploads and are very grateful for all the good advice. However as a new preppers we are advised to prepare for power outages. In that scenario having no electricity would mean that we would be reliant upon our one ring butane camping stove. For us that would probably rule out cooking things like dried beans and pasta as it would use up a lot of gas. We look to buying prepared food that only requires heating and of course boiling the kettle. Great upload, many thanks

Hello Ana. Have you given any thought to meal replacement powders ( Not protein powder ) We used to use these whilst on duty as an emergency response team, as you never got a moments rest to stop and have any food during the shift, we researched it and came up with a favourite for taste, nutrition and ease of use.
We used a product called " Huel " that was a great meal replacement during the shift, simply added to water in a shaker and you had a tasty, filling meal to keep you going.
I would suggest that they would make an incredibly useful supplement for a stockpile larder, I think a bag of the stuff makes about 20 odd meals and contains all your essential greens/nutrient's and stuff.

My husband has been given meal replacement drinks that he mixes with milk because his cancer means he can't eat. We said that they would be great as a prep, just use powdered milk.

Anna ive been picking up kilsner jars up for yrs at car boots .. got a load this weekend a pound each 🎉 im desperate to learn how to do some canning .. ive got a dehydrator and a pressure cooker.. how do you prefer to store home cooked meals like stew ect? Ive not tried to can as im just worried i dont get it right and i kill of all me loved ones 😂
Can you out a link up to any previous vids youve done? Thanks 👍

I’ve canned things but generally don’t do meat or stews. It’s just works out so much more expensive rather than buying tinned stews , I know there is no comparison in flavour but there is also a longevity of a tin comparing to home canned jars that sways me ti buy meat

What about puting them for a short while in the microwave? Will it not kill any bugs, eggs etc?

Not sure if that would work, mic waves work from outside it so by time inner beans get warm outside ones will burst
