Jeff is still more popular though, everytime they make their entrance in TNA Jeff is still the most cheered. Jeff also outsold Cena marchandise in 2008-09 and if he never left back in 2009 he would probably be a bigger name than Cena today
Yeah, but Jeff had trouble with that sucess and the WWE workload, which contributed to his drug problem. He was brilliant, and still is, but he's a very flawed human being. He could have kept going at that level, or he could have done a "Victory Road 2011" at a WWE PPV. We will never know.
To be fair, The Undertaker gimmick only worked because of how talented Mark Calloway was as both a wrestler and entertainer. Find me an athletic big man with charisma like him and you'll get similar results. You won't though, closest one is Luke Harper.
Lest we forget the crowd shat all over The New Day at first. "Oooh I member" (sorry had to) those atrocious vignettes before they debut as a team. It was only when they changed that people reversed their opinion. They became such a great heel group that WWE just gave in and let them become babyfaces, which rarely happens. Even Jericho is still sticking to his guns even though he is just as over as ever, yet recently before this gimmick change, face or not, he wasn't getting the response he was years ago. Most people regard it as the best incarnation of Jericho to date. Still, they haven't given him a full face turn....yet. It's probably coming though.
I'm inclined to agree. I think some guys might have made it work for a little while, and Glen Jacobs (kane) might have made it work, and perhaps a few others. But not to the same extent and certainly not for 20+ years at the highest level. Mark Calaway is as good as anyone in the history of the business, and certainly the most capable "big guy" in wrestling history. There have been better workers, and better talkers, but Mark as the Undertaker is almost a perfect package of look, in-ring, gimmick and persona.
Broken Matt won me over when he pulled the old Jeff Hardy from the lake behind his house and then did not want him and pushed him to the lake again. xD
Best part was when Willow showed up. Willow was one of those things where kayfabe meant nothing because Jeff never once hid the fact that he was Willow the Wisp. He had a license plate back in the day that said Willow for crying out loud.
What makes the Broken character work is Hardy's commitment to the character. Where other wrestlers completely shit on kayfabe Hardy stays in character all the time, whether it's in interviews, social media, podcasts or wherever. By doing that it makes it easier to suspend your disbelief and really buy into the fact that he very well may be "broken".
Matt Combs I'm almost entirely sure this gimmick happened because he realized that basically no wrestling fan was going to remember him, but remember his brother, if he didn't think of something soon.
He's basically taken what The Undertaker has done for the past 20-some years and used it for a modern character, which (like Blampied) I didn't really like at first. I thought the entire 'Broken' gimmick was just... stupid. But it's now brilliant
If I didn't know better/wasn't into wrestling I'd actually believe he'd lost his mind. In fact when he first started the Broken thing I was confused and thought he really fell that far.
Matt Smith I feel exactly like him. Final deletion was so dumb, but his commitment to the gimmick as well as the expansion of the gimmick made me love him
I think it's probably genuine (I started off not warming terribly much to it either), but framing it around an advert certainly makes it seem convenient.
I'd say Lucha Underground as a whole. In a world where the death of kayfabe has forced all every promotion to try and be more real or go to comedy, Lucha Underground went so far the other way. Drago is billed as an actual dragon in the form of a man, Mil Muertes and Catrina are zombies, and Matanza is possessed by the ancient Aztec gods for fuck sake. The whole show is insane but I, and a lot of other people love it.
Personally I think he did it just so he could get a break from the Undertaker persona. You'll notice that he did most of his interviews when he had the biker gimmick. That's because he didn't have to try and keep up appearances by never breaking Kayfabe and not taking part in many social events. He could finally cut loose a little bit. Now that he has the Undertaker gimmick again it's back to pretty much always trying to be in the shadows which I'd personally hate doing.
i think i've read that he became a biker because he was thinking about retiring and wiht the Biker gimmick he could've retired on his own "Terms" as the Persona of the Deadman that is closest to his real life persona iirc
In all honesty, most of these guys got the gimmicks over with sheer talent alone. Do you think anyone besides Mark Galloway would of been able to get over a character as absurd as The Undertaker. Of course not, it was him committing %100 to it for his entire career.
i know its weird, but i think wwe should work with netherrealm(production team for mortal combat) and make the undertaker as a playable character in the mortal kombat game
Controversial Radio yeah but they were like the worst, most bland gimmick ever, but the superstars themselves made them one of the most over tag teams in the modern era
Am I the only one who hates that there really are nearly no gimmicks today? The reason why I love Finn Balor and Bray Wyatt so much is because they're something different, there is a back story to them. Now it seems like everyone is wearing the same damn tights, trunks, knee pads, and wrist tape and just being called wrestlers...
Character development is exactly the difference between olympic wrestling and Wrestling Entertainment, i wish WWE did more creative backstage segments and more of storytelling than just ... impressive wrestling only
One of the reasons why I love Lucha Underground. They still have all those cool gimmicks and backstories and characters, all interwoven with Aztec culture and history. Makes a really cool promotion. Then again, a big time movie producer/director is in charge of it, so it only makes sense that the creativity would be there.
I knew when I started this video that Undertaker would be #1. It's the gimmick that absolutely, without question, SHOULD NOT HAVE WORKED. It was so silly, so stupid, that there's absolutely no reason it should've worked, let alone survived for DECADES. But goddamn if Mark Calloway doesn't own the role. He not only gave it his all, but constantly changed up the character, tweaking it little ways so that you could go through his past work and know almost exactly what year you're in by how he looked. I don't think anyone else but Calloway would've made the gimmick work as well as he did.
Matt hit the fuckin gold mine with the BROKEN gimmick. It's so loved and so over now that even if TNA folds, its likely even the WWE wouldn't risk changing it much, let alone other indie and semi-indie feds.
TNA's funniest stuff has come when they let guys riff. Kevin Nash did killer stuff in TNA when they let his natural sense of humor shine through, especially in the paparazzi videos with Alex Shelley and company. At first I thought Broken Matt was dumb as hell but damn it's become the most fun I've had watching wrestling in some time.
Its probably that its the first character who isn't held back ... full control over what he does and it's all thought out and not pushed to places that are weird but they all have a reason and aren't forced.
Jake Frazier That's what he wants you to believe. It's the story of Augustus Caesar all over again. The great Emperor who disguised himself as a beggar
Man I'd say Kane is the best gimmick of all time next to The Undertaker. I know he gotten a lot of respect over the years. But I think that he should've gotten a lot more respect than he already has. I mean people are saying "Triple H & The Undertaker are the last two of their generation." or "Oh Yeah, Triple H & The Undertaker - Last remaining star of The Attitude Era." But they are forgetting about Kane. He's been with WWE for nearly 19 & a half years. What really pissed me off was that Kane won the WWF Title against Stone Cold at King of The Ring in 1998 then just the next night on Raw, Stone Cold won the title from Kane. Really?! Kane deserved a better title run. Yes, I know he was ECW Champion & he was World Heavyweight Champion. But to me, it don't touch Kane's only reign as WWF Champion. He should've had a longer title reign. I would've had Kane destroy everyone in his path. I would've given Kane an undefeated streak. Almost like how Rusev during his first year with WWE. But I would've had him just destroy everyone in his path & not have him lose to anyone. Not even a count-out or DQ. I'd make him an unstoppable or unbeatable monster & have Paul Bearer do all the talking for him. Like how Brock Lesnar has Paul Heyman do all the talking for him. More importantly I'd give Kane a few month reign as WWF Champion & I'd have him hold the belt until either Judgment Day or Survivor Series & drop the belt to either The Rock or The Undertaker or maybe Stone Cold again once he got through his feud with The Undertaker. I know that's way more than I originally was gonna say lol. But that's how I would've booked Kane's first WWF Title reign. My question is how would Adam Blampied book Kane's first WWF Title reign?!
Thomas Muller g The difference between Kane and The Undertaker is that Undertaker came with a brand new gimmick never seen before, so if Undertaker never used his deadman persona gimmick Kane wouldnt be the Kane we know probably a huge guy like Big Show
Let's not forget, during the whole last outlaw (attitude era star) it wasn't just Kane that got overlooked, Chris Jericho had to be in the background going "ummmm... I'm still here... And most of the time I work full time... You guys don't do a dozen matches a year between the three of you."
Kush MasterB i have read the entire book i can confirm tht she got a chpter. well, actually i can confirm that she got more than 1 chptr, but i guess in the end she was deleted DELETE DELETE DELETE DELETE, and well u get the idea
I never got this idea of "hating" unique gimmicks like these ones. For instance a super hero like Hurricane seems to be a great idea for a gimmick, because it's so fictional, fantastic that the idea itself is way more entertaining than most of the wrestlers in whole WWE at the moment. I always adored characters who could stand out of the dull rest of the wrestling world and I believe that's what made them famous. Of course you need a charismatic person who loves his/her job and the character, but I'm quite sure that we need more gimmicks like these ones.
I got one...The People's Elbow "Hey Vince i got a move, hear me out. I'm gonna give someone a simple body slam. Then stand straight up....stare at the crowd for a few....slowly take off my elbow pad...point and gesture in the directions i plan on going...then proceed to embark on said journey to ropes...come back to my opponent...and since he's still devastated and rendered unconscious from that simple body slam i gave him, what seems like 5 minutes ago, i have plenty of time to jump over him, bounce off the other ropes....come back and then ever so slowly and dramatically proceed to drop...a simple elbow. Sounds great right?" Vince: "Are you fuckin crazy? It would take a complete idiot to pop for that dumb shit. It'll never get over"
The real story behind it is actually even better than that. HHH talked about it recently that they had a bet with each other about getting completely ridiculous and pointless moves into house show matches. The rock came up with the people's elbow and did it on house shows for a while and it just got totally over.... to the point that they had no choice but to start bringing into the main picture
Adam always liked Sandow! Even when he was in the WWE. He signs on the people that inspires him. He just said he never liked Matt's character, but he always talked about Matt and Jeff Hardy pulling off all of their stunts and being a great tag team. Imagine if you owned an indie circuit and you get to sign on wrestlers. Would you go for the ones you don't care about or the ones that made a huge impact in your life.
yeah it seems really forced, just how they started to go crazy over Kurt Angle when he appeared for them. Kurt Angle IS amazing and deserves all the praise, but they really went overboard with the fawning over him.
I think all of us experienced the same thing... when I first watched the final deletion, I was like, "what is this dogshit"... but after 2 more watch I found it really entertaining...
I met Matt Hardy in 2004. He had a fledgling mid card solo career at the time in WWE. I was 10, shopping with my mom at the mall in Cary, NC Hand to god, I caught him as he was leaving the Hot Topic. That bothers me for some reason.
On the Jericho podcast Hurricane Helms was saying that the gimmick was making him sooo much money in merch. For a couple of months he was outselling everybody.
Jarron House it's stupid, I like that he never breaks kayfabe in interviews but the whole character is stupid and that shitty final deletion you can just tell that the TNA creative thought "well clips instead of segments works in lucha underground how about we do that but with an actual match?"
It's unpredictable, and people like to be surprised. Wrestling today is rarely full of things to talk about, except "X has returned for the next PPV get hype!"
I can't lie, I thought the same. It seemed so unlikely that The New Day would last this long, but they somehow did it, and even have their own cereal line, now. I guess it's just their charisma.
Dexter Morgan Their initial gimmick of wholesome happy babyfaces DID fail immediately. That's why they changed it up to the obnoxious meme-sporting troll squad we all know now. And THAT works because people love obnoxious crap all the time. Look at all the most popular Vines and social media bits and it's not hard to understand that New Day's current gimmick was destined to be over.
With most of the characters on this list, they made it because they had a lot of freedom with the characters. Look at Matt Hardy, he pretty much has full control over the character, the Undertaker had a lot of control over the character, the New Day get a lot of control over their characters, I mean, Xavier got a trombone over.
"One of the best" ONE of the best? You meant the VERY best. The Undertaker is the greatest gimmick of all time, no doubts, hands down, nothing even comes close. Hell, when you consider longevity, mic skills, in ring talent (especially for a big man) The Undertaker might as well be the greatest wrestler of all time.
The Undertaker is really a phenomenon, alone by the fact that it worked for that long. The other examples here were tied to a certain time and most likely wouldn't have worked in another era, but he went through almost all of them, even when the gimmicks were more focussed on real world stuff.
Stephen Robinson The last time I was this first the blue meanie was beaten up by the yetay for real while New jack beat up a senior citizen in Daniel puder's pants.
I don't see it. If that's the case, then Wyatt ripped off Waylon Mercy. Broken Matt Hardy appears to be inspired by the Game of Thrones meets The Room. I don't care much for TNA but his whole schtick is better than anything McMahon has put out in years. Notice WWE ripped it off with the New Day visiting the Wyatt compound?
The Dudley Boyz are probably another one. Based on the Hanson brothers from Slap Shot, the whole Dudley Family concept seems incredibly ridiculous, and yet it produced one of the greatest tag teams of all time.
Please do an entire video of the Broken Matt Hardy stuff, as I have no access to view him and his antics and want to know more. I always loved the Hardyz and a video would be SO appreciated! Thanks- love your stuff!
To be fair, if I'd just managed to sign Broken Matt Hardy up for an appearance at my little indie wrestling show I probably wouldn't shut up about it either.
Steve of the Dead, so would I except by Adam's own admission, he didn't like Broken Matt Hardy. All of a sudden, they have him and he's Hardy's biggest fan. I'm rapidly becoming disillusioned with the WCPW shit. I thought it was a great idea when they first announced it and when they made their own WCPW channel, I was really happy because I thought that would be the channel where all of their plugging and WCPW related content would be. How wrong was I. Joe Hendry's entrances are the best part of WCPW and even they were better in ICW.
Being a wrestling promoter has been Adam's dream since he was knee-high to Hornswoggle. You'd be doing the same. It's okay to not like it but don't shit on people for doing WHAT YOU WOULD DO IN THEIR POSITION
I saw wwe live in Cardiff and nick dinsmore stuck his head out of the curtain to have a look and someone shouted its Eugene you could literally see him click straight into character and started doing his wave to everyone.
The wrestler makes the gimmick… it’s not the other way round. Of course, even the best performer will struggle with a mediocre (on paper) character, but if he/she sees a spark of recognition in the gimmick.. or is passionate about the character.. then magic ensues!
I am one of those old school fans who is seeing how truly a genius matt hardy is. and I love how he and jeff have us the fans see his real life home and animals. WHO else before has done that.
Fun fact about The Undertaker: He actually got REALLY DEEP into his Ministry of Darkness gimmick. So deep in fact that Vince had to force him to step back from it.
What about Jack Gallagher? the man dresses like a 18th century gentleman with a mustache filled to the brim with wax. He wields umbrella's as a weapon with a move that involves opening said umbrella up and leaping from the top rope like Mary goddamn Poppins, as well as challenging people to duels complete with glove slaps and even asks people to sit down for tea in contract signings. he has all the telltale signs of another wasted gimmiks like the shining stars or the Vaudvillains and yet he is one of the most over members of the cruserweight division, through his sheer character and in ring performance (just watch his corner dropkick on his "look at Jack Gallagher video, its stiff as hell)
Adrain Adonis/as/us was Adrian Street back in the day. An old lady called him a dirty bastard and beat the shit out of him with her umbrella when he grabbed the ref's arse lmao. Ah the 70's haha.
It's kinda difficult to answer really. Technically that first Spiderman movie happened in 2002, a year after The Hurricane debuted, though the hype for it did happen a year earlier so it is entirely possible that, capitalizing off of the hype that the first trailer had, the super hero thing came about. Also, X-Men did come out in 2000 so there is that to keep in mind. That being said it is also entirely possible that it was just Helms doing what he wanted to do and the Spiderman and superhero films in general had nothing to do with it
I honestly never thought I'd see the day when Matt would be more popular than Jeff.
Jeff is still more popular though, everytime they make their entrance in TNA Jeff is still the most cheered. Jeff also outsold Cena marchandise in 2008-09 and if he never left back in 2009 he would probably be a bigger name than Cena today
Albert Wesker Absolutely not
Yeah, but Jeff had trouble with that sucess and the WWE workload, which contributed to his drug problem. He was brilliant, and still is, but he's a very flawed human being.
He could have kept going at that level, or he could have done a "Victory Road 2011" at a WWE PPV. We will never know.
True that's a bit weird
Ahenny97 thought I've seen it all until that happened
To be fair, The Undertaker gimmick only worked because of how talented Mark Calloway was as both a wrestler and entertainer. Find me an athletic big man with charisma like him and you'll get similar results. You won't though, closest one is Luke Harper.
And the late, great Bruiser Brody.
Big Slow?
Wyatt?
Your mom?
Keith Bubb Bray is big like in belly size but he means big as in height
Fun fact: The Hurricane defeated AJ Styles in Styles' first WWE match
Hurricane was one of my favorites of that era.. his tag team with Kane had plenty of funny moments.
I could tell wrestling was fake when i seen The Undertaker has all of those powers and still loses lmao
What? That’s when I knew it was real!
I think New Day should be on this list personally. They pulled off a crap gimmick.
life is crap When they got the creative freedom to be themselves, it took off
That's New Day 'being themselves'?! Fucking hell, what a trio of absolute cunts.
Modest Mouse More like being relaxed and funny
They didn't get the gimmick over, they ignored the allelujah gimmick and made a new one in its place that worked
Honorable Mentions:
The New Day
The List of Jericho
How about Dude Love?
Muammar Gibran I, myself, never really liked that gimmick
But the New Day didn't work until they became annoying, the original idea was lame as fck
Bray Wyatt and Demon Finn Balor(Both I adore so it's not an attack, just that neither gimmick should work in 2016)
Watch it!!!....You're almost begging to get put on the list with this comment!~
If the Undertaker gimmick had been given to anyone other than Mark Calaway it would have failed miserably.
Bloodraven XX Without a doubt.
I'm inclined to agree. I think some guys might have made it work for a little while, and Glen Jacobs (kane) might have made it work, and perhaps a few others.

There have been better workers, and better talkers, but Mark as the Undertaker is almost a perfect package of look, in-ring, gimmick and persona.
Also, remember that he was originally gonig to be the Gobbeldy Gooker.
Bloodraven XX Hence why fake-Taker didn't last as long as they originally planned him to.
Bloodraven XX what about Glenn Jacobs
can we stop to acknowledge the perfect description of Mick Foley
Broken Matt won me over when he pulled the old Jeff Hardy from the lake behind his house and then did not want him and pushed him to the lake again. xD
Could you link me this video?
Stefany Kulcheski Djuba I know it is right after Decay invaded their house. Abyss left Jeff wounded and Matt healed him in the river.
ruclips.net/video/YbugMrlUAVE/видео.html (for anyone who wants to see it)
That was hilarious. "THAT'S NOT THE REINCARNATION I NEED! *Redunks Jeff*"
If I didn't know better/wasn't into wrestling I'd actually believe he'd lost his mind. In fact when he first started the Broken thing I was confused and thought he really fell that far.
I honestly believe he has lost it lol with everything that has happened. I just don't see him normal anymore.
Kayfabe is alive!!!
"Matt's coming to our brand? I better backpedal and pretend I like him now!"
Most people hated the Broken Matt gimmick and made fun of it at first. Is everyone backpedalling?
Matt Smith I feel exactly like him. Final deletion was so dumb, but his commitment to the gimmick as well as the expansion of the gimmick made me love him
Matt Smith honestly I didn't like it at first but it grows on you. Matt's a good worker and it makes it work.
Paul Hensley I think it's too much of a coincidence. I don't think he said anything about liking Matt before this video
I think it's probably genuine (I started off not warming terribly much to it either), but framing it around an advert certainly makes it seem convenient.
And number 1... WhatCulture Extra!
Oh you said "(But Did)"
Never mind then
PiplupTCG savage
Savage
PiplupTCG What is wrong with whatculture extra?
That's savage... Randy Savage!!!
How dare they make money doing what they love! THE INHUMAN MONSTERS!
"Through sheer force of beard..." Adam always cracks me up.
Matt Hardy looks like the bride of bloody Frankenstein
Joel Cortez best comment on here lol
Ernie Reyes
Joel Cortez hahahha
YOU OBSOLETE MULE!!
Joel Cortez I thought more like Sweeney Todd☺
I'd say Lucha Underground as a whole. In a world where the death of kayfabe has forced all every promotion to try and be more real or go to comedy, Lucha Underground went so far the other way. Spidey Rox Haha! Really? That stuff is 100% for real?
andrew de grosa Yeah its true. I think there was a woman who was supposed to be like 137 years old or something.
They even put the world title on a woman.
Matt D They put the title on John Morrison?
I agree. lucha is basically in its own world. its so different you cant help but love it
No mention of the Undertaker becoming a biker for several years for virtually no explainable reason?
I came up with a reason myself. The biker thing was Undertaker trying to get in touch with his waning Mortality.
Thought the reason was that he wanted to be more human, that's why Kane supposedly killed him down the line because of his betrayl of what he was?
not really biker taker been, shown below he became biker taker
i think i've read that he became a biker because he was thinking about retiring and wiht the Biker gimmick he could've retired on his own "Terms" as the Persona of the Deadman that is closest to his real life persona iirc
In all honesty, most of these guys got the gimmicks over with sheer talent alone. Do you think anyone besides Mark Galloway would of been able to get over a character as absurd as The Undertaker. Of course not, it was him committing %100 to it for his entire career.
Callaway... Galloway is from Scotland and once was known as McIntyre
Alot of guys could get over as the undertaker but stay over?
That's what takes talent.
i know its weird, but i think wwe should work with netherrealm(production team for mortal combat) and make the undertaker as a playable character in the mortal kombat game
ck churusos yes
Yes all the YES! Finally someone else who sees how well that could work!
Make it happen, Vince
*kombat
That's not weird at all. THAT'S FUCKING AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!
Eugene is essentially the Forrest Gump of wrestling.
Whoa whoa WHOA!!!! Where the BLOODY HELL is New Day on this list?!?!?!?
It was top ten mate, I'm sure if it was top 11 they would've made it
Controversial Radio yeah but they were like the worst, most bland gimmick ever, but the superstars themselves made them one of the most over tag teams in the modern era
Albel217 You could say that about The Rock, technically they changed their gimmick, so that bland boring gimmick didn't really get over
Controversial Radio a very good point
Joker Sting
Anti Christ Jeff Hardy
What is song for wcpw please
Am I the only one who hates that there really are nearly no gimmicks today? The reason why I love Finn Balor and Bray Wyatt so much is because they're something different, there is a back story to them. Yep, and no cool names either, just large egos.
Then again, a big time movie producer/director is in charge of it, so it only makes sense that the creativity would be there.
i feel the same way. Without gimmicks whats the point? Might as well watch UFC.
Nah dude, UFC doesnt have characters , WWE is now bringing more , but no lol , i prefer staged violence over actual blood and gore anyday
Hey look it's Blue Meanie! Remember how JBL beat him for real?
Ukraine One Republic Really? I had no idea, if only whatculture said that happened over and over
Ooh I 'member
jbl turned the blue meanie into the red meanie
I don't think WC has ever addressed that situation.
Claude Akel You mean purple because red + blue=... You know
I knew when I started this video that Undertaker would be #1. It's the gimmick that absolutely, without question, SHOULD NOT HAVE WORKED. It was so silly, so stupid, that there's absolutely no reason it should've worked, let alone survived for DECADES.

Speaking of Blue Meanie did you guys know that JBL once punched him in the face of REALSIES?!?!
dude, someone should make a video about it!
redmanra1n somebody should make a shit ton of videos not necessarily about that incident, but also mention it in every one of said videos.
Matt hit the fuckin gold mine with the BROKEN gimmick. It's so loved and so over now that even if TNA folds, its likely even the WWE wouldn't risk changing it much, let alone other indie and semi-indie feds.
They wouldn't change it, but Vince certainly wouldn't let Matt have the level of creative control over the gimmick that he has in TNA.
King Kaiju it's brilliant but cant work in the E
TNA's funniest stuff has come when they let guys riff. "possession of Justin Roberts"? don't you mean Josh Mathews!? WTF!
ITS BLAMPIED O'CLOCK MOTHER FUCKERS!
OMG I CAN NOT BELIEVE IT GET IN THERE
BLAMED MOUNTAIN, BESIDE THAT MOUNTAIN IS A LAW SCHOOL, BESIDE THAT YOU'LL FIND COLE STARING AT A WALL. JOIN HIM!!!
you stole my comment -_-
King Ross should be on here too.
King Ross is who he is. It's the 'Ross' character that isn't clicking with fans
+espurious What are you talking about? Watch the pre-show podcasts mate. Ross and King Ross are both two completely different people, remember?
Jake Frazier That's what he wants you to believe. It's the story of Augustus Caesar all over again. The great Emperor who disguised himself as a beggar
Yeah that's true, a king seemed ridiculous but every week he was getting funnier and funnier and now we have JOHN O'CLOCK
THE UNDERTAKER IS THE GREATEST WRESTLER OF ALL TIME!
Man I'd say Kane is the best gimmick of all time next to The Undertaker. I know he gotten a lot of respect over the years. But I think that he should've gotten a lot more respect than he already has.
Thomas Muller g
The difference between Kane and The Undertaker is that Undertaker came with a brand new gimmick never seen before, so if Undertaker never used his deadman persona gimmick Kane wouldnt be the Kane we know probably a huge guy like Big Show
Let's not forget, during the whole last outlaw (attitude era star) it wasn't just Kane that got overlooked, Chris Jericho had to be in the background going "ummmm... I'm still here... And most of the time I work full time... You guys don't do a dozen matches a year between the three of you."
Fun fact: When Mark Callaway debuted in the WWF as the Undertaker, his full name was to be Kane the Undertaker.
So did Katie Vick get a chapter in Kane's book.....
i think i've read somewhere that Vick indeed is in the book
Kush MasterB yeah but that page is ripped out thou from most copies
Let no one ever forget Katie Vick!

Kush MasterB i have read the entire book i can confirm tht she got a chpter. well, actually i can confirm that she got more than 1 chptr, but i guess in the end she was deleted DELETE DELETE DELETE DELETE, and well u get the idea
Undertaker controlled Josh Matthews:)
Not Justin Roberts
I never got this idea of "hating" unique gimmicks like these ones. For instance a super hero like Hurricane seems to be a great idea for a gimmick, because it's so fictional, fantastic that the idea itself is way more entertaining than most of the wrestlers in whole WWE at the moment. I always adored characters who could stand out of the dull rest of the wrestling world and I believe that's what made them famous. Of course you need a charismatic person who loves his/her job and the character, but I'm quite sure that we need more gimmicks like these ones.
I got one...The People's Elbow
"Hey Vince i got a move, hear me out. Sounds great right?"
Vince: "Are you fuckin crazy? It would take a complete idiot to pop for that dumb shit. It'll never get over"
I think that was inspired by Scotty 2 Hotty's The Worm move.
ChiTown Smark
"top 10 wrestling moves that shouldn't have worked, but did"
make this list
ChiTown Smark it was spinebuster
The real story behind it is actually even better than that.
HHH talked about it recently that they had a bet with each other about getting completely ridiculous and pointless moves into house show matches.
The rock came up with the people's elbow and did it on house shows for a while and it just got totally over.... to the point that they had no choice but to start bringing into the main picture
Lol I was laughing too much reading this
Please do a video chronicling Vince Mcmahon's longstanding love of using feces to advance storylines.
loolllllll
So did pacitti ever find his dream girl?
Seth Rollins no
Seth Rollins Martin Kirby
I thought new day was going to be on the list. Guys who were face then turned heel. Guys who dance and twerk. But then turn face and buttios happen.
ha
Alex Smith didn't they come in as heels then turn face?
Hardy signs with WCPW and ofcourse Adam begins to like him smh
Also Sandow on here too not surprised lol
And?
I think all of us experienced the same thing... when I first watched the final deletion, I was like, "what is this dogshit"... but after 2 more watch I found it really entertaining...
What is the name of true legacys theme song
I also wanna know
Which one? The new day one?
GoldNinja Vlogspot lol
ErtyHD it a new day, it a new generation
I think it'scalled 'It's a new day'
I met Matt Hardy in 2004. He had a fledgling mid card solo career at the time in WWE.
I was 10, shopping with my mom at the mall in Cary, NC
Hand to god, I caught him as he was leaving the Hot Topic. That bothers me for some reason.
Poisontype The Junglist what bothers you?
He was a 30 year old man at Hop topic
Poisontype The Junglist Lol let the man be. He's a fucking genius
Where else did you expect him to buy his fishnet shirts and 10 size too large bondage pants that him and Jeff still rocked at the time?
On the Jericho podcast Hurricane Helms was saying that the gimmick was making him sooo much money in merch. For a couple of months he was outselling everybody.
The New Day should have been an honorable mention.
dig - dig - diggity
dig - diggity - dog
Socko
If WWE2K whatever had that gameplay and creation engine, I'd actually buy the next one.
Dee Gee IS COOKIN'
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
UNH!!
Dee Gee wwf no mercy reference I'm guessing
Hurricane was cool 😎
Ty Dia my thought
Hurricane was awesome
It’s crazy you guys had Angle and Rhodes . Insane
I really wanna see broken Hardy's vs the Wyatt family.
0:11 who doesn't
Jarron House me
Greeney why not
Jarron House it's stupid, I like that he never breaks kayfabe in interviews but the whole character is stupid and that shitty final deletion you can just tell that the TNA creative thought "well clips instead of segments works in lucha underground how about we do that but with an actual match?"
It's unpredictable, and people like to be surprised. Wrestling today is rarely full of things to talk about, except "X has returned for the next PPV get hype!"
I hate broken Matt hardy with a vengeance
For the 1st time, Matt is bigger than Jeff!
How did you guys forget The New Day??? I honestly thought that gimmick would die even before it began!
I'm just gonna take a shot in the dark and say that #1 is the Undertaker.
*sigh*
Goddamnit, Adam.
Next you should do "Gimmicks that Should Have worked(but didn't)"

10 Most Exteme WWECW Moments
haha Al Snow and Head were the best! haha! Loved that stuff!
The Charizard Network "what does everybody want?!"
The Undertaker is really a phenomenon, alone by the fact that it worked for that long. The other examples here were tied to a certain time and most likely wouldn't have worked in another era, but he went through almost all of them, even when the gimmicks were more focussed on real world stuff.
I can't be the only who is getting sick and fucking tired of seeing comments saying, "I'm first" or "last time I was this early".
Stephen Robinson unfortunately reporting them for spam doesn't do a thing.
im first..... to say , im early .....let me make a joke for the ..... last time.
Stephen Robinson The last time I was this first the blue meanie was beaten up by the yetay for real while New jack beat up a senior citizen in Daniel puder's pants.
I think the word "early" has been fucking ruined for me by essentially everyone on RUclips
John Bradshaw Layfield brilliant
I watch WhatCulture for Adam Blampied voice over videos!!!
Nice video simon
sarcasm or dumbass?
Malcolm Boyd Obviously sarcasm...
+Malcolm Boyd It was sarcasm but you are obviously a dumbass.
*cough Bray Wyatt cough*
Bima Setyawan It's funny that they mention Broken Matt Hardy when he obviously copied his gimmick from Bray Wyatt (typical TNA).
You are new here?Waylon was come up with the gimmick to Rotunda at development territory and He liked it so He take it.
LatinGuido817 U must be DELETED yeeeeaaasshhh
The Dudley Boyz are probably another one. Based on the Hanson brothers from Slap Shot, the whole Dudley Family concept seems incredibly ridiculous, and yet it produced one of the greatest tag teams of all time.
When I first saw the Wyatt promos I was like "What the hell is this crapola!?" I was DEAD WRONG. Bray is platinum on the mic!
Goldust survived because he is a awesome wrestler.
fran cisco ... you’re kidding right?
Without seeing the whole video I bet the Undertaker is #1
Please do an entire video of the Broken Matt Hardy stuff, as I have no access to view him and his antics and want to know more. I always loved the Hardyz and a video would be SO appreciated! Thanks- love your stuff!
All I have are these videos. These old videos to keep adam alive.
25 seconds in and you're already plugging WCPW. Jesus Christ.
To be fair, if I'd just managed to sign Broken Matt Hardy up for an appearance at my little indie wrestling show I probably wouldn't shut up about it either.
McGovP hey man if you owned a wrestling show you would want to get it over now won't you?
You know absolutely nothing about me.
Now I know it had a short lifespan, but I always liked Kaientai. Shane doing the voiceover work was comedy gold!
The New Day??
I saw wwe live in Cardiff and nick dinsmore stuck his head out of the curtain to have a look and someone shouted its Eugene you could literally see him click straight into character and started doing his wave to everyone.
The wrestler makes the gimmick… it’s not the other way round. Of course, even the best performer will struggle with a mediocre (on paper) character, but if he/she sees a spark of recognition in the gimmick.. or is passionate about the character.. then magic ensues!
James Ellsworth should've gotten a mention at least.
I'm gonna buy me one of them sockos
I want to check out Kane's book.
Somehow... I saw #1 coming a mile away...
I am one of those old school fans who is seeing how truly a genius matt hardy is. and I love how he and jeff have us the fans see his real life home and animals. WHO else before has done that.
I was like, "Who could beat 'Broken Matt Hardy'?!" ...and then it made perfect sense haha
so..he just started to like matt hardy, just when he is scheduled to appear in wcpw..what a coinkidink
7:11 "Controls Justin Roberts?" You mean Josh Matthews.
They're basically the same guy.
No...one's a ring announcer and the other is a commentator/interviewer.
Fun fact about The Undertaker: He actually got REALLY DEEP into his Ministry of Darkness gimmick. So deep in fact that Vince had to force him to step back from it.
False
“Stand back there’s some nonsense coming through” killed me hahahaha
Thank You Taker! Amazing he pulled off and made what should have been a bad gimmick so so good. My favorite of ALL time.
Just started the video and I'm like 99% Taker is number 1
Yep!
The Hurricane was my main as a kid. My stepdad bought be Wrestlemania 18 for Gamecube and I used him all the time
Ky Milton cool!!!!!
You say Broken Matt Hardy is great only when he decides to come to WCPW. What a shock.
I loved The Undertaker Gimmick the day he debuted at Survivor Series 1990. Greatest gimmick ever in wrestling.
Good hing you had broken matt there, proving you are not obsolete.
What about Jack Gallagher?
the man dresses like a 18th century gentleman with a mustache filled to the brim with wax. He wields umbrella's as a weapon with a move that involves opening said umbrella up and leaping from the top rope like Mary goddamn Poppins, as well as challenging people to duels complete with glove slaps and even asks people to sit down for tea in contract signings.
he has all the telltale signs of another wasted gimmiks like the shining stars or the Vaudvillains
and yet he is one of the most over members of the cruserweight division, through his sheer character and in ring performance (just watch his corner dropkick on his "look at Jack Gallagher video, its stiff as hell)
Adrain Adonis/as/us was Adrian Street back in the day. An old lady called him a dirty bastard and beat the shit out of him with her umbrella when he grabbed the ref's arse lmao. Ah the 70's haha.
I wanna see Broken Matt hardy vs The Undertaker at WCPW!
I want it at 'Mania!
The Undertaker is the greatest gimmick in wrestling history simply because it should never have worked but it did!
I always preferred Matt over Jeff, so glad to see him finally getting some attention.
undertaker did not posses justin roberts. he possesed JOSH MATHEWS!
Didn't Hurricane Helms happen before Sam Raimi's Spider-Man?
s.h.i.t......that's all
It's kinda difficult to answer really.
That being said it is also entirely possible that it was just Helms doing what he wanted to do and the Spiderman and superhero films in general had nothing to do with it
Yes Hurricane debuted that character in 2001
So was it the giraffe that won you over or the fact he's coming to WCPW let'ss be honest
Every single one of these is down to the wrestler portraying it. Sheer charisma and brilliance.
i am proud to say i am the owner of one of those Mick Foley hand drawn Mr. Socko's :)
UNDERTAKER VS BROKEN MATT HARDY AT WCPW. GIVE THEM ALL THE MONEY TO MAKE IT HAPPEN
That True Legacy theme is the worst thing I've heard in quite some time...
It has grown on me over time personally.
Riktenkay sounds a bit weak or soft in my view- or gimpy as I first said 😂
sounds like "that one" song u always skipped in the SvR games..
"Vs The Son of a Plumber...." 😂
The Al Snow vs Head match was hilarious, only Snow could've got that shit over! Head even won that match haha
Seriously though, why can't Broken Matt Hardy be a presidential candidate instead of the two clowns we have running?
