Great video, thanks. Makes me worry a bit if as self funded retiree we'll survive.
Thank you, you’ll be fine we see many, many retirees on the the road and everybody finds their niche and the best way for them to travel
Excellent budget video,
Congratulations to both of for honesty.
Love watching your travels.
Thank you, we always thought waiting a year to do this episode would give people a better idea of some the costs involved with doing a lap
One of the best budget videos I’ve seen. Thank you! Completely agree with not selling the house. Look forward to you next video.
Thank you we’re really happy you enjoyed the video
Thank you both for a very informative video on what everybody wants to know with travelling in a caravan. Please when you come to Perth, drop in to Automasters Bassendean for your service on your car. I will happily look after it for you. Have a great easter.
Thank you for your very generous offer, we’ll be in WA in 2025 and definitely paying you a visit.
This video was fantastic. The best we have ever seen. Thank you and stay safe. ❤
Wow, thank you!
Great episode, thanks.
Welcome to Newcastle/Hunter Valley. There is so much to see and do here. I hope you enjoy it.
Thank you we having a great time, went to Nobbys the other day…beautiful
Just watched this one Steve and Alison and it is without a doubt the best budget video yet. Thank you very much. It was so informative and you guys are very forthcoming in everything you do. We also wouldn’t sell our home if and when we decide to travel full time but it is reassuring to hear other people think the same. Absolutely love following you and yes we are subscribed 😅
Happy travels and happy Easter 🐣🥰
Thank you very much for your kind words, we’re really happy you’re enjoying our channel, happy Easter to you as well
Hey guys, well done, and also congrats on the 80 % free or low camps, your travel outlook is so much like ours except we are retired and travel about 30 % of the year .
Thank you, we do love a free camp. we think free camping is what allows use to continue our travels relatively cheaply.
You have done well on the budget. One of the biggest budget traps is you tend to be out more so we spent more on lunches be it a Cafe, bakery, pub meals etc.
Thank you , yes you’re 100% right we really make a conscious effort not to eat out.
Great info.
Thank you
Fantastic video great budget could you put it into an ebook I for one would purchase it, we are both bad with finances but I reckon your way of budget was great, really enjoy your videos thank you 🤩
That's a great idea! Thank you
Hey, Steve and Allison, that was the best and informative episodes and the breakdown on cost was fantastic.
Allison, you have done once again a fantastic job on budgeting / booking.
Glad to hear Allison talking more 😊
Thank you Kerry that’s very much appreciated
Thank you very much. Great budget video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thankyou for a great informative video and keeping it real.
Thank you
Great realistic video on budget well done
Thank you
Heya Steve and Ally. Agree with the pub stays as pubs are so expensive now i stopped going to them about 20 years ago. When you have to pay $28 AUD for two Jim Beams and Coke bottles I thought that's it. Its a shame as the old beer gardens and pubs were ok with their prices. No idea what happened but the prices are now too ridiculous. Thats why they are all empty now. Their future is very limited
Hey mate, glad you enjoyed the episode, you’re right we see so many pubs closed or closing it’s a bit sad to see. One publican we met said she’d have to close the doors if the government pushed the prices up any more
Great video guys well done thankyou cheers Mell
Thank you Mell we’re really happy you enjoyed it
Welcome to God’s country, yep I’m biased my neck of the woods! I think Defence upped the fuel budget for the Fighters at Williamtown, up and going flat strap for the past week or so. Mate your approach and common sense advice was one of the best I have seen regarding travel budgeting . Dead on the money and my wife is nudging me to take it onboard… I might but not the night work at Woolies! Cheers
Thanks mate, Ally works hard to keep me on track I think I’ve mentioned once or twice I love a pie but as Allison says pies don’t pay for the fuel. Woolies night filling is a good back up I think we’ll be stopping again soon to fill a few more shelves
Very well researched.
Thank you Allison is very good at maintaining our budget
Great episode guys, thanks for sharing. Incredible effort on accommodation especially 😮
Thank you
Great video
Thank you
Great vid where did you get fuel for a $1.00 per litre 12 months ago.
Thank you, sorry I wasn’t to clear we were paying $1 during COVID. That’s when we started our planning/ saving for the lap
Thanks Alison that was such a great help one of the best budget videos around safe travels❤
You are so welcome! Allison is so good at managing our travel budget and she has some really great ideas on how to save a few $$$ 🤓
great budget, wow $150 pw on food well done
Thank you, I’ve got to say it’s hard some weeks but we make it work
Another great informative video. Getting closer to the Gong , I hope you guys are enjoying it. Appreciate & enjoy your content. Mick & Jodie from the Gong Dragons 🐉 country
Thanks mate we’re loving NSW
Thank you Really well sorted into great categories
Thank you we’re really happy you enjoyed it
Great video. So much fantastic info. So far we’ve mainly stayed at Caravan Parks so get power & water so wondering with that amount of free camping where do you get your water from ?
Thank you we’re very happy you enjoyed the episode. We always find our water resupply points on the WikiCamps app. We try to travel with very little to save on weight but we always carry fresh drinking water just in case
Great video, best I have seen so far and very honest
Thank you, we’re really happy you enjoyed the video. Maintaining a budget on the road can be challenging but it gets easier the longer you do it.🤓
Brilliant video this week. So much interesting detail and tips.
Thank you we’re really happy you enjoyed ir
What work do you do on the road and how often do you have to work
We both work as night fillers at Woolworths and over the period of the year we stopped and worked casually ( 10-20 hrs per week) for about 16 weeks on and off. Because we work a couple of hours of an evening it allows use to explore the areas where we are working. Allison also has small bookkeeping business that she works at two days per week out of the van while I edit the videos.
Thanks great idea working of a night
Good info thanks guys 👍🏻welcome to our beautiful area.
Thank you! 😃
You never let us down we love watching you no matter what 🌊🦈
Thank you 🙏
My hubby just bought a Mitsubishi express van and my husband is done is up for me. The van cost me $1500 and the confections was about $250.00 I bought everything second hand for the van.
That’s fantastic my father travelled over 3/4 of Australia in his Mitsubishi L300. it doesn’t matter what you drive it’s about enjoying the adventure. Safe travels
Food for 2 for $157 p/w. A little over $10 p/d each for 3 meals. Love to know how you are doing that. TIA
Thank you for your question, remember $157 is our average weekly spend over the period of the year. We have had weeks when we have spent $300 because we bulk buy meat etc and we have had some weeks when we spend less than $50 because we are off grid in a remote location and rarely visit a shop. We have been on a $150 shopping budget for a little over 2 years now and we have become very disciplined in our shopping habits, we always menu plan for the week, we buy store brand products, we always take a shopping list so we don’t impulse buy and always look for specials. I have to admit when we first started it was difficult but after a while we made it work. Hope this helps Steve & Ally
My weekly food budget is $600 per month for two people but I usually don't spend that much. I'm not travelling so it's easier to stick to my budget. $157 while on the road and including meat (we're vegetarian) is very impressive!
great video thanks. Do you rent out your house for some income ?
Thank you, no we don’t use the rent for income but we do stop and work at Woolworths every so often, Ally also has a bookkeeping business she does online two days a week
Great video, very well explained. Thank you so much for going to so much effort. I too, think a little Ebook for purchase might bring in a few pennies for a coldy.
That's a great idea! you may have just given us a project to do🤓
Love watching your videos. My husband and I think are similar ages and have been learning a lot from your videos. Do you use an app to track your expenses? If not, how do you track them? Looking forward to your next video. Keep up the good work. 👍
Thank you, we’re really happy you enjoy our channel. We don’t use an app, we keep all our receipts and once a week Ally pops them into a spreadsheet, then we use the receipts as fire starters🤓
@@trip42australia I'm not the smartest with spreadsheets. If they are made already I can fill in the information. Any possibility of obtaining like a template? At least it would get me started🙁We would really love to catch up on the road one day. Thanking you in advance.😀
@@kerrihancock5102 Look into your banking app, some will categorise expenses and you can train it to put them in the right categories for future expenses; mine does.

Thanks mate
