I love mansions and had my reception at one. This video, however, is utterly boring and the decor is terrible. Too bad because the architecture is beautiful.
@@MAMAGOO21123 "Southern Colonial" is NOT an official architectural style. It's a term coined by realtors in the early 20th Century, whose clients were often ignorant of architecture. It was most often mis-applied to houses of the Neo-Classical and Colonial-Revival styles, and referred to any house with columns. The house featured in this video has decorative embellishments that are specifically associated with the Beaux-Arts movement in America---mainly the archway treatments, the scrolled balcony supports, and the Corinthian columns. Plus, it's dated to that period when Beaux Arts was all the rage, 1890-1920.
@@lindasheets813 She might have called it Greek Revival, but to the trained eye it's not. Greek Revival was a style popular between 1830 and 1870. It fell out of favor after the Civil War, and is most commonly associated with southern plantation houses because many of them were built during this period. The house in the video was built in 1903, long after the Greek Revival period, and as I stated in another comment, has a lot of elements of Beaux-Arts architecture.
Dr. Metts was a doctor who saw patients by day, served as county coroner by night, and was investigated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for improper use of funds. An entire generation of patients, mostly female, were served by this man, in his 80s at the time of the video, as the "feelgood" doctor who specialized in pain pills and "invigoration injections."
This lady as not taken care of the upstairs well. The crap in the hall needs to be removed, including the book cased: plus the floors need to be refinished now!
Gorgeous. Love it. Savannah is a wonderful place.
Lovely home! But I love that little Maltese running up the staircase, too cute! Oh my there are two!
the house is beautiful. Love the grand graceful architecture
Love this house
Beautiful home!! I love anything to do with columns, pillars, and plantations!! What happened to all the antebellum furniture?
This isn't an antebellum home. It was built long after.
A beautiful old house. I hope all the remaining antibellum homes are preserved as well.
Not an antebellum home.

This is not a "Colonial" home. It was built in 1903. The colonial period ended in 1776. The architecture is "Beaux-Arts."
She said it is a Greek Revival
This is OBVIOUSLY Not Beaux-Arts.. This is NOT French-Cheateu.. this is called "Southern Colonial"..
