    This worked. My cooker has stopped clicking wildly. I went a step further and removed the top cover by removing the small screws you can see here. They are star shaped for safety. ( risk of electrocution) I found two igniter cables literally lying in a pool of oil. I cleaned it all up and walla , no more annoying clicks. ! Thanks mate!!

    Awesome worked! Save my weekend - thanks so much! Clicking suddenly started while nothing was on (scary). Then turned off the breaker, cleaned the around the spark plug. Didn’t work. Then turned everything on, ignited all the burners, hit the breaker , let all the burners run on simmer/low for 30 minutes without power, turned off the burners, turned power back on and NO noise!

      Boom. Just like that, peace in the home is restored. I find the clicking to be like water torture. Soooo frustrating. Mine has just started doing it again. The new gas cooker was just installed
    A few minutes late when I tried to turn the gas on it started clicking I didn't know what is going on! It's brand new gas cooker though it shouldn't have moisture. Even though the engineer left the gas for a couple of minutes on and also the oven for 30 minutes.
    I tried what this gentleman done. I turned the gas for a couple of minutes then the clicking has gone simply.
    The thing is I don't understand why that happened even though it's brand new gas cooker!

    Opened the top cover of my gas range to clean it up thoroughly. The metal sticking out beside the igniter is a thermocouple sensor connected to a solenoid valve where gas pass thru. It shuts off the supply of gas in case there is gas leak or temperature too high (not sure which of the two). Safety feature I guess.

    Hello all, Kenmore gas cook top, 20 yrs old but never used. New condition. I am curious about how it was engineered. The knob has to be turned past "high" to initiate the spark ignitor by entering a 3 inch venturi tube. That is a lot of gas spewing out before ignition. Should I install it in a home with kids? Thoughts?

    Can we use other staff for rubbing like dishwasher soap instead of alcohol

    • @essentialhandyman
      @essentialhandyman  2 года назад

      Hi Besmellah. Hmm, I'm not sure, I've only used products which don't leave a residue when they dry. I've not tried soap as unless you wash it off with water (which is one of the things were trying to avoid) it will leave a residue. I've added an Amazon Affiliate Link to the video description for surgical spirit/Rubbing Alcohol. Which should assist you.

    I didn't have rubbing alcohol, so instead as a quick fix (after putting the burner on for some time did not help) I switched on the underneath oven to 350 F and let it sit there for 10 mins. I think that heats and warms the underneath layer of the cook top and helps get any moisture stuck there. The clicking stopped for me after that

    Do you know the white stuff surrounding the igniter it looks like a ceramic that you sounded what if that is cracked and broken on one side expose in the whole igniter travel size?

    • @essentialhandyman
      @essentialhandyman  Год назад

      The white surround on my cooker is plastic. It's there to insulate the metal, so that the spark comes out of the section at the top of it. I've never had a cooker where that white section broke. However, I would say watch what the spark does and act accordingly. Does it still spark only towards the gas burner or does it spark in other directions?
