All in all stage 3 is a bit simpler than stage 2 the enemies that show up are either there solely to be blasted away or have fairly predictable attacking patterns.
Your primary worries are a couple moves both the mid-boss and Elly will pull off however so long as you go out of your way to make sure you don't get cornered you'll be fine.
In general when dealing with Elly you have to make sure you have room to escape just in case because she'll constantly be throwing her scythe at you while shooting her bullet patterns

This is true for many other popular remixes: carameldanisin was originally a song made by the sweetish band caramel & the more popular version is a remix done by the caramel girls.
Touhou is a very famous game in Japan, It just isn't so famous in the west.

To clear up any confusion with the music:
There are two versions of the soundtrack in the game selectable in the game's options. (Something to do with sound card compatibility)
Aside from those, there is the Nomico Bad Apple (the one most are familiar with), which is a fan remix.
I heard this one on mine, it was a Windows emulator like this one (I think) but the one I saw on most was the “other” one
Not only that, there are 100 different arranges of Bad apple out there made by different doujin bands, but Alstroemeria Record's just happened to become the most popular.
But yes, the canon official version will always be the one from the game it came from and composed by ZUN himself.

IIRC The music is in midi format, which means it just says what instruments to play what notes at what times-the soundfonts installed on your computer decide what those instruments sound like. So entirely depends on what computer you’re using what that defaults to and there ought to be a BUNCH of subtly different versions based on what PC it runs on.

Fun Fact: Elly is the first Tohou boss with a Survival Phase. And she has that title despite being a Stage 3 boss [when usually only Extra Bosses have them; or Aya since that's her whole Stage 4 gimmick]

Like a shadow, we've all seen, but never recognized (half referance to the shadow art remix).
A nobody who became a legend, though never known. (Half referance to her being at the end of the Shadow art remix and the fact that she's associated with this theme, despite her theme being Peridition Crisis)

I am confused... Are there two original bad apples? This tune sounds a little lower pitched and is missing some of the snippy bits in it? FlandsresOldWorld has the original bad apple tune, it sounds diff than this one
someone on a different video said it asked the same thing (why does theirs not sound like the songs) and its cuz of the emulators sound configs. if he changed some things then it would sound better
+chainz983 You're part right. The emulator is one reason but the biggest is that the version you traditionally hear everywhere is a remix ZUN did later. In Mystic Square's music room he has music from all five PC-98 games there and all of them are updated tracks. For the most part it's slight changes however Bad Apple in particular stands out cause he added a bunch more notes to the tune. Also the difference in quality to the Highly Responsive to Prayers soundtrack is crazy.

You know what's Ironic? In the description I read; Boss: the gatekeeper of the mansion, Elly. Hong Meiling from EoSD is also a gatekeeper, and comparing to their theme. Bad Apple and Shanghai Alice of Meiji are almost similar. A great coincidence between gatekeepers

Stay behind her for the part where she is throwing tiles at you. Before she throws a sythe or the tiles at you, stay at the upper corner. Then slowly work your way to the other corner. This way, the tiles and sythe (and bullets if you're playing on Lunatic) will fly safely behind you. This strategy is even more helpful when you're playing on Lunatic.

Strange how different this sounds compared to other rips of Bad Apple's music. There's a different bass drum, there's a kind of rimmer sound going on, and a lot of the sounds seem to be erased in favor of prioritizing the sounds (likely due to limited channels)
Come MS, MUN released all PC-98 tracks in that games music room, in doing so a good number of older songs sounded slightly different (especially the oldest HRtP songs). I'm not sure what he changed about them, or why exactly, but said arrangements would go onto be the standard and when he released the songs as CDs on his Akyu's Untouched Score albums

@@cyan.6399 Sure if you got some time to kill. ZUN has a music room in all the PC-98 games so you can listen to the OST, so you can just boot up LLS itself and record any of the tracks you want.

Some uploads has missing instruments, like this video, this is because of the sound configuration on the emulator. The one uploaded by RubixNG is what the music supposed to be.

No I am actually here for the game, this video helped me learn that Elly can't be damaged in her first phase
Up until now I have been holding shoot and trying to stay under her even during that phase, lol
This stage is an absolute cakewalk on easy, and isn't too bad on normal, but it gets annoying on the boss fight. i'll comment my full opinion on the game under one of these walkthroughs eventually. it's a decent game that's better than 1, 2, 3 but has stuff that hasn't aged well like the random annoying lag
touhou 4 , 5 is best in all games series bullet hells, but it is my opinion, no shit small hitbox, no forcefuly predicted patterns, and in end hellish feeling you beat really strong foes.
No joke, Mystic Square is pretty much my favorite in the entire franchise. It felt like it both LLS and MS got the formula down pat on the PC-98. Not to mention both games had such a memorable soundtrack. And god, I love that fight against Shinki so damned much!! :D
I like the direction the modern games have. But not gonna lie, I miss the PC-98 era too.

LLS would've been good if it wasn't for the annoying, random lag. it's fun on easy but gets kind of annoying on normal. the extra stage is insane to try for the first time, and i died at the white orb midboss, but won't go back to it. won't bother with hard or lunatic. the music is decent, but would sound way better with modern instruments. some aspects that havent aged well in this game imo

There is no other version, this sounds different than the others because of missing some instruments which is caused by MegamanOmega's emulator sound settings

If you just want to play it, older games I find on the Moriya Shrine, including PC-98 games since you'll have to use an PC-98 emulator to run them.

If you want a physical copy however... that's gonna be much harder to find (and run for that matter). You're basically gonna have to find a second hand used game seller that has one, but you're also going to actually _get_ a PC-98 computer if you want to run it if you do happen to get that PC-98 floppy.
