    Nothing like the snap of a freshly adjusted clutch!

    Crazy weather in Colorado, flash floods and nasty stuff. Hopefully your not as affected by it as many others have been in that area. D4 clutch assembly is like a little machine on it's own. Love the installation process and im sure there is more to come.

    Getting ready to do a clutch on an old 1956 d68u dozer and was wondering where you got your pressure plates and clutch disc

    Is that recipe for the grease original or is it an alternative to a grease that is no longer manufactured or just an improvement?
    I remember that in the owner's manual of some motorcycle from the 50s they recommended using SAE 50 engine oil mixed with a certain amount of graphite for the gearbox...

      There was originally a graphite packing inside the grooves of the brass bushing on the main clutch. Dad accidentally cleaned it all out, very well I might add, lol. We were trying to think of a way to get graphite in there that would harden up and stay and I know that moly grease had a tendency to do that after a while, so hopefully it works. It was just something that we thought up. But judging by what you saw in the motorcycle manual we might be on the right track. Thanks for watching!

    So a new style torque wrench clicks when it reach the desired torque what does your Dads old school torque wrench do when he reaches the desired torque?😀🇨🇦

    Believe it or not I had to find a radiator cap for my D8, yes it was missing too, and the one is 4 inch diameter made of heave cast iron rad cap what is the faddish with rad caps

      LOL, I don't know. I can think of a lot of tractors that I bought or seen in auctions that don't have radiator caps. totally bizarre!

      @@lifeafterourloss well in a pinch if you gotten a leak it is Paramount that you ran the cap lose so pressure didn't push the coolant out, you lose coolant faster under pressure so in a pinch loosen the cap and make your way to the garage , so it is possible the caps fell off, but would you find that in all antique ,??

    • @lifeafterourloss
      @lifeafterourloss  Год назад +1

      That's true. Guess it's just a mystery!

      @andrewklahold2880 People steal them for keepsakes I reckon... Mack trucks lose their dogs the same way

      I do remember the fad in the late '80s where you couldn't keep a hood ornament on anything! I imagine some of these radiator caps fell victim as well, 😏
