That piano flourish was a great ending!
Chain a longs work grate for the picking parts off like that before using the hydraulics
You are a "real" youtuber too! Good job on the machine, it's not easy working with old rusty stuff.
Thanks, it's still funny when folks call me a RUclipsr. It's quite a compliment. 😊
I never knew what those sockets were for, I think I even have a few, learned something new.
Good video. Looks like you've got a good fixer upper!
Just discovered your channel today. Subscribed right away! While I don’t have a Cat, I am restoring a’66 Case 530ck backhoe. Squatch, pnw hillbilly, Kyle Crist, and salvage workshop are all inspiring to me. Now I have you guys to watch also. If you get a chance, check out my Case playlist at Skookum Sawmilling. Thanks for your great content and I am touched and saddened by your loss. God bless.
I will check out your channel. Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching!
Invest in an air over hydraulic jack for the orange engine hoist. Sometimes you need two engine hoists.
That's a great idea. Would be nice to have two for the bigger items.
You know I have a few of those sockets and never new what they were supposed to be for and watching your video educated me so now I know I can hardly wait to try them out thanks gentlemen and happy wrenching oh and whoever was working the camera I thank you to keep that old iron running!😀🇨🇦
The 8 point sockets work great on square head lag bolts and those pesky square head adjusters. My wife will film when my hands are full. I will let her know you appriciate her work. 🙂
I wonder what Cat would say if you asked them for the “Book” price to pull that cover.😂
😂
Where you stuck on the steering clutch adjuster?
You may also want to check out Kyle Christ’s channel, he is working on an RD4 and has a couple D4 7U he is working on. He and Matt (PNW Hillbilly) are good guys and would help you with questions if you have any. Another good resource would be Nathan (Ironman3406), he, Kyle, and Squatch253 (Toby) run in the same circle of folks and have been very helpful to me with my D4 7U.
Yep, that left side adjuster just would not budge because of the rust. I can already tell the classic caterpillar community is full of fantastic people! Many have already reached out. I will definitely check out those other channels. Thanks for watching.
@@lifeafterourloss I appreciate your willingness to video your journey and I enjoy all your content. Thank you. Also, I love the dynamics of you and your father, it really hits home.
Your doing great buddy and both squatch253 and Pacific have great videos on RUclips about these can’t wait to see more thanks for sharing
