Just a little correction that Doctor Who didn't move to Roath Lock until 2012. Series 1 was actually filmed at Unit Q2 in Newport. For series 2-7A it was filmed at Upper Boat, Pontypridd.

Last episode was “everybody lives!” I didn’t like this ep when it aired but it grew on me. I loved the doctor and the slithene at dinner...powerful scene. The tardis being alive and telepathic was first shown in the second ever episode in 1963! It was rarely mentioned though. Machine and alive, you’d think they’d follow up more in those years of the original series. I was glad to see it a5 least mentioned here

This progressed about how I thought it would... .You're acting like he Chris Brown'd her. She was Staying over at his apartment when we met them in S01E01, you don't think they were having sex? He's been a stand up boyfriend, you were expecting him to wait 2 years for her? By the way he all but admits he was lying about the other woman later in the show. So he did wait. Remember she was missing for a year and didn't contact him I don't like his acting but I also don't like people picking on him. He doesn't have a sonic, he's not a Timelord and even though, threw himself between a Slitheen and his girlfriend's mother, who accused him of murdering Rose. I wouldn't have gotten between her and someone with the common cold.

How dare he suggest his girlfriend spends some time with him after barely seeing her for well over a year while loyally waiting for her while she was traveling without ever letting him know anything, only for her to get jealous when he honestly tells her he likes another girl. Yeah, we'll just ignore how Mickey propositioned Rose for sex in a hotel room, then drops it on her that he has a new girlfriend, then gets mad at her for being annoyed about it. (Which was the Doctor's fault, not Rose's.) It's like people completely forget what characters say in this show in order to shit all over Rose. (I'll defend Mickey at the end of his character arc to the death, but Series 1/part of Series 2 Mickey is just an self-centered ass of the "Nice Guy" variety.)

I mean, in the TARDIS itself, he talks like she's his girlfriend, joking about how he was uncomfortable with her being around an attractive man. It's fine that he's moved on, but he should tell her. Don't ask her out on a date after treating her like your girlfriend and then drop it on her. Man up and admit that you've been seeing other people from the get-go. The part at the beginning takes on new meaning when you realize Mickey had hooked up with someone else. Who is he to worry about Rose doing so when he's done so himself? If you think it's okay to see other people while you are apart, then that goes for both of you. The guy is sympathetic. I get what he's going through not getting a clue that Rose isn't that into him, because he wants her to be. And they would be together had she not met this other man. I even sympathize with him giving up on her only to be unable to control himself when she comes back into his life. But the way he revealed he had been seeing other people was still a jerk move, and the girls were right about that. And Mickey really does need to move on, and accept that Rose isn't into him anymore. Maybe that can change, but the ball is in her court. He's made his feelings clear to her, and she keeps running off without him.
I like this episode. It's small scale, but has some great moments in it. Next episode though, we're all waiting to see what the "newb" makes of that! 😆

Yes and for that first year. Mickey was investigated for murdering Rose. What a nightmare he must have gone through. Everyone just ignores that, and then she leaves him again. When the Doctor says "Your boyfriend" In the Long Game, She confirms it by saying "Not anymore" In other words. Until that moment he was her boyfriend. We don't know how long they spend in the TARDIS between Dalek and The Long Game. Humans need to sleep. But maybe the fact I really do not like Rose colours my opinion.

Imagine you were in what you thought was a happy relationship with someone and then somebody just appears one day and your boyfriend\girlfriend runs off with them disappears for a full year and everyone thinks you’ve murdered them only for her to show up and not even think of you. Then they disappear again and only contact you when they need you to bring some of their stuff so they can disappear again. He was obviously happy with what they had but rose wasn’t. In the beginning, I didn't like Mickey because I felt like he was selfish, putting his needs before Rose and trying to hold her back from having a better/more exciting and fulfilling life (this is likely my own personal baggage filtering my view of him). But, especially with this episode, you see how complicated their relationship is. I don't think either of them is good for the other, and they're both holding each other back. I don't think it made it into the edit, but I think at one point during this episode I said something to Katrina about how I feel like Rose and Mickey make really good friends but should stop trying for something more. Maybe I'll start to like him more in future episodes! I've got an open mind ;)
Honestly I think Rose is my least favourite companion and Mickey is one of my faves even in season 1. I just think hes funny but he also just gets left by rose and abandoned, he just wanted them to spend time together but she always chose the doctor over him instead of spending the time as just them two. Rose I just hated because she seemed snarky and wanting all the time to me and I felt really bad on Mickey when she kept leaving him, she just annoys me.

KieranT I can't speak for them but the reason I hated Mickey (and maybe others), in season one, was because he was weak, pathetic and a coward.
