    David, I watch numerous instructors on here and have learned a great deal doing so. Hands down, your videos and instructions are the most structured and easy to follow. Thank you for doing what you do.

    The great Johnny Cash doing a metal band's song - who would have thought this. A great lesson - well done Mr David P!

    I'm a big fan of the preview being the entire lesson.
    Before I even know your name or backstory, or your take on the song we're only 60 seconds in I and know how to play the song. Seriously, brilliant video structure.

    Great song and fantastic lesson David, you really broke it down and explained it clearly for a beginner like me. The two things that impressed me are the way you set out the timing count diagram with the chord progression and the way you presented the basic song but then those optional embellishments to add in once I've got more confidence. Great work.

      Im, not even a beginner at guitar, but I REALLY appreciate how good of a teacher he is. I am fairly new to singing with the guitar though, and the fact he sings with the song as he is teaching it helps me to learn how to sing and play the song.

    Thank you! I thought I was crazy with the pinky high E at 10:30. I KNEW it sounded right when I fell on it by accident. That's how I play it and it sounds great! Sliding the C shape on the earlier part doesn't sound "right" to me though. Thanks!

    F.Add.9. Do you have any idea how much I'm going to use that chord now that you've shown it to me? My left hand & I reserve a special kind of hatred for bar chords, you sir have shown me a way to get around that one at least. THANKYOU! This was the best lesson for someone like me who really isn't much good at all, but wants to get to better. I love the way you describe things as you teach like that transition to the D being a challenge, most teachers just assume that sort of a change is easy. We mostly forget that we all had to start somewhere as we improve at things. Thanks again. Subscribed. 👍🏻

    Great help. I love the alternate chords for this with the pinky holding G on the little E string. I can do bar chords but those chords sound great and a way easier transition especially when the strumming goes back to the slow chords. A wise musician pointed out that it sounds better with A7M. I think that’s the chord where if holding AM lift up your ring finger.

    If your hand is big enough, what I do is when i play the Fadd9 I usually wrap my thumb to get the low E on first fret. And then use my third finger to play the D string on 3 but also mute the A string so you can just do full strums for all 4 chords.

    Great video, only I'm confused between the intro and where to come in on the chorus. There are too many options/ examples of what you can do but no proper translation between what you are doing between intro and chorus. But thanks for sharing 👍

    Just a tiny trick I found for bar chords... Don’t push your pointer finger down with your ring, instead just push down on the neck in the shape of the rest of the chord and it’ll have the same effect but get you the shape faster in my experience

    Why does cash's version sound so much more original than 9 inch nails'Or is that just me

    • @tuftyaurelius9062
      @tuftyaurelius9062 4 года назад +2

      Yes, Cash’s version is much better although he didn’t write the song. Cash has taken the song, made it his own and increased the emotional intensity hugely.
      It just shows that SOME (not all) cover versions can actually be better than the original. David (Tutor) has certainly captured the darkness and atmosphere of the piece.
      One of the best tutorials out there. THANKS. Heavy metal fans should listen to this. It’s not always about screaming and shouting out lyrics. Cash is praying here..😢...mournfully.
