Easy to find out the correct move even you did not know the term of distinct opposition. When you calculate moving forward to either one square then the opponent can make opposition, you will definitely try moving horizontally. Another trick is triangulation, especially when it is low on time, you will surely try this trick and hope the opponent move incorrectly due to time pressure. Nelson did not mention in this video.
@Chess Vibes Nelson, on Puzzle 1, when you send the black king to d8, I consider it an immediate win for white because they have Kd5, which will win them the opposition next move. Puzzle 2, I saw triangulation, so unless black has a counter move, Ke4 with Kd4 as a follow up leads to a win. The other two are similar, so I don't see anything wrong. And I really like the distant opposition, so it's good to know!
that distant opposition thing was so new to me too! great tips, Nelson!
Extremely instructional video. Thank you! Although I was able to solve all 6 positions, it is always good to test what we (sometimes think to) know :)
Great work as always.
I'm rated 1200 in rapid, and I've never heard of distant opposition until now-mind blown! Thanks, Nelson!
i am 1500+ and didnt knew😂😂

VIDEO I WAS WAITING FOR THAT ONLY THANK YOU SO MUCH
will you explain key squares please
Nelson, you should be a teacher by profession. Teach anything, doesn't have to be chess.
VERY GOOD
So after the distant opposition, if white push their pawn(1/2 squares), isn't it zugzwang for black to move?
I hope this doesn't knock how to win Q and K end game out of my brain
As a 600 rating player , These conditions are so difficult for win and Games is always draw but now I have a chance for win. thank you for this video.
So it was super distant 5 grid range opposition all along at the very start of the Bonus Position #2...
if you only have a pawn left at the end of the game youre kinda doing it wrong :D
but still very helpful indeed
Chess can be very democratic... It is all about the opposition ;)
