  • In this video we show you how quick it is to set up the portable toilet we use in our campervan. We are using pine pellets instead of kitty litter. Pine pellets are cheaper to buy, lighter to transport and pretty much eliminates any odor that might come from the bucket.
    Shout out to Happy Place Camping for trying out Pine Pellets first! Y'all go check their channel out :)

      That was pretty funny!!! I bought the pellets a while back and experimented on the back patio for like a week (not pooping). I put just enough pellets to cover the bottom. Went like 10 times when I remembered. Then covered the bucket for another week or so. IT DID NOT STINK, even after sitting for that long. Those pellets swell up a lot. Then just put the bag in the regular garbage.

      Haha! I completely understand :D It takes getting used to for sure. One of my childhood memories is of a house my ma and pa had rented for a while. It had indoor plumbing, but it was broken. So it was a bucket in the back room for everyone. I can remember thinking that was the worst thing in the world. And now look at us...we are making videos about a bucket toilet. Lol

      This will be a great addition to tent camping! I am sure you know, but you can also purchase a more traditional 'seat' that just snaps on to the top of the bucket. The pool noodle just helps keep the overall cost down. Looking forward to some tent camping videos in the spring :)

    Enjoyed your approach to making this video. Thanks for the smiles. Walmart sells a toilet seat that fits on top of a 5 gal bucket. It's in the camping section. I've been using the Reliance Hassock Toilet, works on the same principle, for many, many years. Also bought their Luggable Loo (5gal bucket with toilet seat lid) as a backup. Have it stocked with bags, hand sanitizer, t-paper if needed in a Grab/Go situation. Will be checking into TSC bedding pellets. Thanks for commenting on their effectiveness for urine.

    Good video and tip on pelletized bedding. How much does a bag weigh?. I would double bag the throne. To prevent leakage. I've found those plastic garbage bags aren't to be trusted. Thank you for the video. Have a blessed day.

    • @SL_BA
      @SL_BA  3 года назад +2

      I think this is a 20lb. bag of pellets. It was only $6 (as of November 2020) at our local Tractor Supply. And the pellets last a long time. Double bagging is certainly something to do if you are more comfy with it. But, the experience we have had is no liquids at all. The pine pellets completely absorbed it all. Thank you for watching :)

    I was looking for you to give me some information about smell reduction and odor absorption there's another video that swears by the pellets better than pine shavings for older absorption and of course better than kitty litter but you did not go into that and I was looking on the comments I didn't see anybody comment on that that's the big thing and then with your type toilet you're mixing the number one and number two so that's even harder to order absorb but I've heard on that other video that's the kind of toilet they have in it works for three or four days which is really amazing but thanks for the idea of the cushioned seat peace brother

      We watched a lot of videos before deciding on this method. I do by best to never use it but sometimes I do need to use the bucket. I mostly use it to urinate during the night. I have never had a problem with oder. We are still using the pellets whenever we are boondocking. ~Scotty
