    Gawad is honnestly the quickest, most skilled, most fluid and best game reader i ve seen since shabana... NIce attitude and laid back as well..
    Ashour, besides his metaphysical speech about himself, should have CONGRATULATED his opponent who was better than him despite his regrettable injury at the end..Thats in my opinion the first thing to do after a game you lose... anyway...
    GAwad deserves entirely his win, he 'just' beaten 4 world number one in the space of 2 weeks!!!!

    A sad ending to a great matchup between two gifted players and wonderful sportsmen -- as much as I admire Ashour and his game, I was thrilled for Gawad, who has been playing some lovely Squash
    Also refreshing to see that when they announced Ashour's retirement there was no BS fist-pump or defiant roar by Gawad -- his first concern appeared to be for Ashour's welfare. Gawad (like Ashour) -- a great player and a credit to the sport -- congratulations Karim!
    And all the best for your recovery (again) Ramy!

      @Yeti: I agree. Nobody can (or should even try to) take anything away from Gawad. He was outplaying Ramy even though he'd played a tough semi-final the night before, and Ramy had a walkover. I hope Ramy recovers quickly, but all due respect to Gawad, he was the better player this match and fully deserved to win.

    • @Hallucinatingfreak
      @Hallucinatingfreak 8 лет назад +10

      Absolutely wrong, Ramy played the first game a typical Ramy Ashour game, Gawad was out of thoughts, since the beginning of the second game everyone noticed that Ramy was not playing his game anymore, just basics and hitting to the back of the court and attacking only if possible, and he slipped 3 times in the match and fell, he was not there mentally anymore, worrying about his leg and eventually it was true. He was pushing through injury I guess from 2nd or 3rd game at least. At the same time Gawad is a great player even better for me than Shorbagy if someone will be able to beat Ramy I think it is this guy in the future.

    Impressive play from Gawad. He read Ashour pretty well throughout. However, sad end to an otherwise good championship. Its always disappointing to see a final cut off in the middle due to an injury. Lately, we have been seeing quite a few.

    • @Hallucinatingfreak
      @Hallucinatingfreak 8 лет назад

      like I said in another comment, he was only reading him because Ramy was not sharp and mentally there anymore, I was there and Ramy looked like he was not able to focus or play at all. If he is fit he would have been leaping , fast and aggressive with attacks.

    Karim was amazing and he deserved it after the match against Shorbagy but it was clear for those who look that Ramy's movement wasn't the same like he lunged and stuff but there was a bit of delay in certain movements and coming of the ball wasn't like he usually is and even the commentators said that in the last game against Fares his movement was a bit off so in my mind Ramy is lucky to be even in the final because if Greg wasn't injured he would have beaten Ramy. Again if Ramy is 100% fit in my opinion he is unplayable. Good thing its not the right hamstring this time though.

We have seen physically better Ashour . I still think he would have made Gawad look less good and won if he could closer to his physical best. From latest British open and this case ...his best may have passed . Though he still continue to add and sharpen his already vast repertoire of brilliant skills , it's still not enough to compensate his body that simply not holding up for few days in a row . Still thank you for playing perhaps the most beautiful squash in recent memories.

      No he wouldn't and he lost to Nick Matthew days before that in the US Open when Matthew wasn't ill. He is an amazing player but He never beaten Ramy when he is fit till now. And to those who say the injury only played a part in the 3rd game probably haven't been injured before because it deteriorates gradually not in a few minutes unless it was an external cause. So i am convinced he had it in the 2nd game and maybe even the 1st only Karim wasn't playing to his standards at the time so Ramy won that game easily, but he when he starts to hold the ball alot Ramy had to move and couldn't just rely on his reading ability

    No one will know how to judge this game perfectly well unless they played it themselves to a professional level even if they retired at an early age. Any squash player knows that it is impossible for Gawad to beat Ramy if he was fit. The comments are making me frustrated tbh, Ramy is now a guy who plays one tournament every 2-6 months and he comes back and reaches at least the final, while these players compete every month normally so I think this is what should be called the IMPOSSIBLE. Why are people acting as if Gawad did the impossible with Ramy when Ramy is clearly injured since Ahram !!
    How many tournaments has Ramy faced the top 3 players and eliminated them all even after coming back from injury, he was not even the world number 1 anymore and he comes and destroys the current world number 1 ?? The answer : So many times.
    Clearly injured again, clearly playing through injury so his reactions are slow, tension and nervousness and not thinking clearly so it is very easy as a player to read anyone who is in that state, I even read in one of the comments that Ramy acts in order to not officially lose the match so he retires !! That is the most stupid comment I have read so far, he lost it anyways he will not care about that at all, he is simply thinking of saving what is remaining of his leg. He got injured over 35 times I guess and done surgery many times and people say he is acting ?
    Ramy is the best wow the legend, now someone beats him while injured and we all know he is suffering so now oh Ramy is acting , he is not the best etc etc , Double standards anyone?
    I will also have to add that Gawad is the best player after Ramy, even better than Shorbagy and I am not taking any credit away from him, an amazing young man, talented and respectful, He is loved by everyone.

    • @HamSupZhai
      @HamSupZhai 8 лет назад +2

      You sound like a Ramy fanboy. No one is saying Gawad is better than Ashour when Ashour was in his prime. It's a simple fact though that Gawad is currently better than Ashour and is on his way to becoming world number 1. Especially since he knocked out Elshorbaggy who is the current world number 1. Stop being such a fanboy.

    • @Hallucinatingfreak
      @Hallucinatingfreak 8 лет назад

      Yeti I am not a fanboy and I know them both used to be same club all of us, even Karim in case you did not know and I have nothing against Gawad so Ramy is still the best but injury is preventing him. I was waiting for the fanboy comment BTW lol

    • @talhadar7017
      @talhadar7017 8 лет назад

      You acted like a fanboy dude. It wad deserved. Gawad outplayed the beast, wolf and even the artist himself in the early stage. You have to admit his shots are just as good as Ashour's. It is just that he needs to prove himself consistently like ashour did.

    • @Hallucinatingfreak
      @Hallucinatingfreak 8 лет назад

      talha dar if you think so okay and the three of them were injured , you have Matthew who is coming back from injury and Ashour who is always injured so if he can outplay them only when they are injured and satisfied then okay , we now know the limits of what you are expecting out of him. even If I am a fanboy I am stating facts. Ramy's reactions were slow and off after the first game because he was nervous about his leg. Most players from Egypt here are saying the same thing but of course in an interview or social media,the common thing will be said, well deserved etc

      Ashour is being overrated I say it for two years already. In many matches he gives up "due to injury" while losing by score. Strange. Anyway, he is a great player, with incredible skills, but so are many many others. Just the fact that he is an actor and knows how to appeal to his fans does not make him neither No. 1 nor a legend as some people think. Any sports should not be only just about being No. 1 anyway. This is the product of the awful individualism we live in...

    • @Siatkowkarzadzi
      @Siatkowkarzadzi 8 лет назад +1

      Overrated? 2 times junior champion (and youngest one), 3 times world champion, coming back after 6 months injury break (as usually nowadays) in 2014 to defeat Elshorbagy for the second time in World championships, coming back a few times in the meantime beetween injuries winning tournaments like El Gouna 2015, Netsuite 2015 or Hong Kong Open 2016.
      You confuse cause with the result. Who wouldn't loose by score if he was not 100% fit? Body problems were obvious when watching his previous retired matches. In few you can actually see the moment of straining/tearing muscles. Is he acting that as well? What you say is outrageous. What makes him legend is his unique style, passion, talent, the fact that he has no coach apart from himself and now that persistance in this unfair battle (you know that hamstring problems are complications after surgery?). I hope nobody will have to go through what he has to now.

Sceptical outlook i know, but i thought Mohammed did the same thing once it became obvious to him that he was being thrashed and was gonna lose. That ankle roll looked completely fake. When a player rolls an ankle during a match at that level, they go down. At least to get some rest bite and to refocus. Such a pity, was looking forward to two good semi's and an epic final.
