Fu Xuans LC is amazing. THe wave heal alone is amazing in SU where events bring the whole team to 1%hp. Also, the energy regen allows her to 2 turn alt.
Jing Yuan's light cone works beautifully on Herta or Himeko. I lucked into two on the same 10-pull this patch. Put the first on my JY and the second on Herta. She has been an awesome sub dps with Blade/Xueyi/JY in Pure Fiction, MoC and SU (depending on enemy weakness)
For farming I found that Before dawn is BiS for herta but in Pure Fiction, I think her sig LC at s5 is better (?) I feel like her FuA is activated way more often and Before dawn can't keep up because she doesn't take as much turns to take the buff What do you think about that? Am I trippin lol?

Exactly -because- Topaz is in a supporting role, I'd get her light cone, as the debuff counts for Dr. Ratio or Debuff equipment, if you go for it. I do agree though, it's atrocious for general use. It's why I am saving up hard r/n to get her E1 + LC for maximum synergy. (Also because I simply love Topaz as a unit, so I can't deny a certain bias.)
I feel like you're underestimating the effect hit rate light cones, Black Swan's especially. With those light cones, that's a lot less ehr you have to roll in your relics, which means you can afford to focus a lot more on speed, damage, or survivability.
i think if youre f2p or low spender, youd rather just equip Eyes of the Prey rather than rolling for BS SigLC. Only if youre EotP is S3~5 (obv S5 best) though.
For me, I’ve only pulled for one 5* lightcone (HuoHuo Lc) for my acct due to my thought process of “pulling for lc’s that are very universal” and works on multiple characters with little to no downsides of the lc’s effect being super niche for its BiS character. Obv HuoHuo’s Lc works best on her but it can work well on any other abundance character (ie, Luocha, lynx, maybe not so much for Gall bladder tho since a lot of dreams are indicating that he scales with break effect). ER regen, increase is nice, the atk% increase is ok (arguably the weakest benefit it provides) but the benefit I love the most is the lc giving hp to the lowest health char on your team when you pop an ult (which in term procs the atk% increase benefit). That bonus has saved some runs for me where I would’ve lost a character. But yeah just wanted to share my thought process on my 5* lc pull or not to pull process.

Trend of the universal market with Fire MC can make for a pretty good tank for a dot-team, as it gives you another dot, whilst preserving Fire MC's insane tankyness tbh.
Also(potentially nerfed) In one video acheron stack is increased when fire mc with trend of universal market is attacked and apply dot. If it really works in the actual release... Hoo boy
Thank you for this great content EOD. As a light spender I don’t often pull the signature LC because I feel like my jade is better used getting more characters, but it’s valuable to know which LCs are worth getting in the future when rerun banners are out and such.
Good arguments. For me limited lightcones are a special occasion for those few characters I really enjoy and I know I’ll use a lot. Saved for Imbibitor’s LC and Before Dawn. Sometimes I give the LC banner a chance, 30-40 pulls (depending on future banners). If I get the LC early, it’s a big win. If I don’t get it, those warps are still saved for some future lightcone I really want. Argenti LC came in 20 pulls 😊
PAYN is the one I want most, and BS’s signature. I just love how Kafka and DoT play. I accidentally got Ruan Mei’s and lucked into JY’s, both of which are amazing, JY’s especially for how useful it is on nearly every erudition. I don’t even have JY, I just have Herta, Himeko, and QQ fighting for it.
I wanted to also leave a comment: you think that LCs are better than eidolons in general since they can be equipped by other characters, but SIGNATURE LCs in Honkai Star Rail are *usually* tailor made for their respective characters. Bearing that in mind, I prefer to pull for signature LCs when they synergize extremely well with the designated character. So we basically have reverse choices :), I have Fu Xuan's, Ruan Mei's, Sparkle's light cones, I have no Jingliu's LC as Fall of an Aeon is already doing what is necessary.
For someone without Fu, Huohuo's LC has been an absolute lifesaver for me on high difficulty SU. Those extra heals from ults are literally the difference between life and death.
I got Silver Wolf's LC specifically for my Welt, not for her, lol. I've built him purely to be hypercarry so the stats of the cone helped to not need so much Effect Hit elsewhere.
There's really 3 situations where you should go for a limited LC 1) You really like the character and want to bling them out 2) You don't have a good LC for a character and the 5* is a big step up for them 3) The LC is universally good And honestly, you probably shouldn't pull unless at least 2 of the 3 apply. I really like Clara so I saved my Starlight for her signature LC, but I haven't gotten any other 5*s other than randomly off the standard banner. I really like Sparkle and even though the other Harmony LCs are pretty good, it feels like a pretty big step up in her power, so I am going for it. And even then, I should probably just go for Jingliu instead. I got Blade on his second banner and I'm really happy I did.
These videos are incredibly helpful, thank you for making them! I will say that having Fu Xuan’s LC has made Sim U (my fave content) so comfy with the heals, so I don’t regret it at all.
Okay gotta jump in on the Hunt light cones. Seeles lightcone is very low value right now. Who can use it fully? Seele, Baby Dan, and Sushang (Yanquing too I guess if you have no CR rolls). That is one limited char and two weak 4 stars. Topaz's lightcone works for both her and Dr. Ratio. Seele's lightcone is more generally universal, but so far we haven't seen generally universal hunt characters. The content creator community seems to value seele's LC more highly in general so this videos opinion isn't unusual. The community locked into the universality of In the Night and hasn't made the distinction between current value and potential value. They just seem to say its good with little qualifier beyond speed reqs. Currently Topaz LC can be fully used by two limited Hunt chars, and Seele's can only be used by one (Ratio maybe counts as half).

Honestly i think Blade has a better signature that DHIL because you have to use basic atk. Most of the Destruction characters use there skill a lot and don’t want to use basic because its lower dps for them. Blade’s light cone can be used on Clara or Arlan because they want to be hit or consume HP and can get the dmg increase. Still its a good light cone for many destruction characters because they have the second highest agro and they will prok the passive. Plus for DHIL’s light cone you can get atk from other sources and its not that desirable tho the energy is quite nice but even so the requirement it only good for him
These videos have been really helpful for getting through my day and understanding the grand scale of value in HSR rather than just do I think it’s good, but also is it good in comparison to “____”
Can you create a tier list of investment value for eidolons and light cones? This tier list will help decide which option for one specific character is better and will show investment value between all the characters. And it will much easier to update in the future updates. Fuxuan lightcone makes your swarm disaster/g&g life easier tho, it just invalidates a lot of gimmicks that reduce teamwide health outside battle I think it's a good deal if you arent looking for optimization
Kafka's initial banner, I stupidly wished on the light cone first 🙈 Got it in a 10 pull, then proceeded to miss out on Kafka on both banners 😆 However, I did snag Black Swan and so the Kafka LC lives on Guinaifen, which gives my dot team the three dots 👍🏻 It's a powerful team and I will continue to try (and probably fail) to being Kafka home 😅
i have In the Night and i definitely want to go for Before Dawn and Own Sword just to have a strong universal 5star LC option for each path in the future i also am considering kafkas but i just feel like the f2p variants are so good already that its not high priority id rather get eyes of the prey for BlackSwan
I actually pulled "Past Self in Mirror" for my Asta and she's so GOOD with it. Hanya can also keep up Earthly Escapade's effect permanently thanks to burden. You can build her as a sub dps and she can do some nice damage.
So, I got a couiple of them. In general no regrets Luocha's: at the time I didn't have much abundance LC and I didn't want to borrow my Natasha's "time waits for no one" so I opted to get his sign LC, especially because of the 4-stars LC, such as "Dance! Dance! Dance!" and "good night and sleep well". Plus I got Luocha in a single 10-pull, so it's a good reward I guess Imbibitor Lunae's: I was hyped for him, so I wanted to get him and his LC, what can I say? Fu Xuan's: I was fine with her on Texture of Memories, but a lot of Content creators kept saying "OMG, Fu Xuan's LC is broken, everyone should get it!". Since I didn't want anyone from 1.4, I felt persuated and got her LC. It's a solid one, I might say Seele's: I was lucky to get it on pity 27. No complaints, but I had a bit of headache giving her a bit of speed Black Swan's: I've been enjoying DoT teams, so it felt right on giving them a bit of investment Here are some that I want: Silver Wolf's: I've enjoyed Silver Wolf enough to want to giver a bit of investment Huohuo's: Seems to be a great for a lot of Abundance characters, especially the energy regeneation rate. Also because I enjoy using her on some team archetypes like DoT and Argenti's team
Having high Effect hit on a LC helps hit the effect caps alot easier which is their top priority. It also allows dot users the potential to build ATK% body. So LC's like Black Swans and Sliverwolfs are very versatile for all dot characters and i would rate them higher.
I don't know if you are waiting for final beta changes, but I would love to see your opinion on the Acheron E0S0 situation. It seems like she's heavily reliant on future units and will underperform at the moment compared to other 5 star dps, especially at E0.
Really good video, very informative. The only one I disagree is Blade's. He has no F2P option and the only good 4*, is not really that good. His signature is the only good LC for HP scaling on his path, and he is very crit hungry.
Kafka Lightcone is versatile but not because of the additional DOT. It is versatile because of the Spd it gives. The lightning DOT of Kafka's LC is the least interesting part of it since you still need an Effect Hit rate to actually be able to utilize it. It actually feels like 4.5/5 rating rather than the overselling you make it out to be. And you are underestimating the versatility of SilverWolf's and BlackSwan's LC. Silverwolf's LC could be a second best inslot to debuff centric Nihility characters like Welt, Pela and ACHERON. Meanwhile BlackSwan's LC is second best inslot to majority of DOT Nihility characters. Since rather than applying a single instance of damage, it increases the potency of multiple instances of damage. Kafka's LC is just better since turn base game relies heavily on Action Values and Kafka's LC enables you to manipulate that. It feels like you are overestimating the least valuable aspect of that LC.
I wanna just share my way of thinking about pulling for lightcones. I pull them then they provide the most comfort and make building characters much easyer. For example I pull allot of characters and dont wanna wale to much for stamina refresh, so lightcones simplify this for me
I pulled sparkle LC as a new 2.0 player bc of similar reasoning you gave for ruan mei where she will basically last as a timeless support and I feel the crit value gain is just so huge especially when my relic subs are lacking at TB 57 so far. Although luckily I was able to win the 50/50 and 75/25 so I have a lot of beginner resources saved for 2.1 banners lol
Black swan’s lc is proc’d by her ult. As long as you have BS she can proc the def down. That makes here a great debuffer and benefits any DOT team if you have a Kafka with.
I think his point on versatility still stands even knowing that. Sure it should be rated higher but to use it on anyone else, you'd need a team that can deal all of those DoT's to do that.
I'll mostly pull sig on dps lightcones. Most dps units will benefit more from their sig lc like 10 - 15% dmg difference which is noticeable. Although Erudition specifically has good alternatives. As for my support units, they have many other options that I just use them instead which saves me pulls.
Why do you ccs emphasize solo power and not collective? It would benefit and give a lot more of versatility to an account getting Eidolons for supports that than for a single DPS. Even you said that you value versatility, there's nothing more versatility than having strong supports that can make ANY DPS powerful on the long-term.
Calling them 100 dollar value really puts things into perspective. They're never worth it to me, too many cool new characters keep getting released to justify a +10-15% power increase over the nearest 4 star LC. I think a limited LC should be reserved for your #1 favorite character and nothing else.
I had very good results with Ruan Mei's lightcone on Hanya to the point that for my teams she generates enough skill points to really not need Sparkle and the physical break damage is nothing to scoff at. I have been curious if Sparkle's lightcone can be good on Yukong.
Totally agree, I wish this was emphasized wrt cost. The 75/25 and the 4*s on said banner are huge considerations too, but that’s more for people who pull in the future. Perhaps live/current full-banner breakdowns may be something he could do.
As a 1.0 f2p I have only pulled 2 signature Lightcones so far, Before dawn for my King and QQ, and Night of Fright for my E1 sub dps Luocha and Huohuo to share! I reallly wish I pulled Ratio’s LC for Ratio and Yanqing but I didn’t have the jades for it 😢

You didn't cover Moment of Victory? I happened to get it from the standard banner and slapped it on my Fu Xuan and it really helped her energy generation but as things are I'm tempted to go for her Light Cone in the upcoming banner. (But maybe I'll save those Jades for Aventurine to have a second 5 star sustain)

Don't be, unless the 4 stars are garbo when it comes around. All content creators seem to judge Seele's lightcone by future potential instead of current potential. They are imagining future Hunt chars that will like a universal light cone. Thing is, we haven't gotten any Hunts that are universal like that, and we don't have any on the horizon. Dr. Ratio and Topaz have a lot of damage gated behind follow up attacks that Seele's LC doesn't help fully. Topaz's light cone works for both her and Ratio.
Just one slight correction which just makes an lc worse, the battle pass abundance lc heals % of the allys hp not the healer. sooooo it's bad really bad

Gepard’s lightcone is pretty great, it works really well for Gepard, March, and fire MC. It gives those 3 more of exactly what they want. The only question about it is whether you think it’s worth it to buy. imo, his and Bronya’s are the only ones that are really worth considering, with Yanqing’s being a 3rd place maybe if you really need more good hunt lightcones. Clara’s is good but basically only used on her. She also has other good alternatives, so it’s not really worth going out of your way to save up for. Nice to get randomly from pulls though. Welt’s is pretty good, it’s a usable to solid option for most nihility characters but we have so many great options that it’s not often worth buying it. Himeko’s is okay, upgraded from being considered kinda trash since we have pure fiction now. Still not worth buying. And Bailu’s is kinda a situational pick, we have so many good abundance lightcones that even using it if you already have it is a hard choice most times. It’s good at what it does, but you usually want utility from your abundance lightcone instead of more damage. Not worth buying.
I really wanted to pull for sparkle's lc but I can't afford to skip acheron. I still have no lightning dps(while also lacking in aoe dps's) and getting punished for it.

I think your evaluation of hamony 5 star LCs is flawed. Harmony characters are very useable in nearly all battles. Meaning their LCs can buff whatever DPS is needed. You'll be using these LCs far more than other LCs.
I got lucky during Fu Xuan banner and with 20 pulls got her e1 and because of that I wished on her light cone and got it 2 She Already Shut Her Eyes in 40 pulls, still don't now if I should s2 or save for other character

i have In the Night and i definitely want to go for Before Dawn and Own Sword just to have a strong universal 5star LC option for each path in the future i also am considering kafkas but i just feel like the f2p variants are so good already that its not high priority id rather get eyes of the prey for BlackSwan
JL lightcone is not universal at all, she is the only one that can proc the life drain
I actually pulled "Past Self in Mirror" for my Asta and she's so GOOD with it. Hanya can also keep up Earthly Escapade's effect permanently thanks to burden. You can build her as a sub dps and she can do some nice damage.
So, I got a couiple of them. In general no regrets
Luocha's: at the time I didn't have much abundance LC and I didn't want to borrow my Natasha's "time waits for no one" so I opted to get his sign LC, especially because of the 4-stars LC, such as "Dance! Dance! Dance!" and "good night and sleep well". Plus I got Luocha in a single 10-pull, so it's a good reward I guess
Imbibitor Lunae's: I was hyped for him, so I wanted to get him and his LC, what can I say?
Fu Xuan's: I was fine with her on Texture of Memories, but a lot of Content creators kept saying "OMG, Fu Xuan's LC is broken, everyone should get it!". Since I didn't want anyone from 1.4, I felt persuated and got her LC. It's a solid one, I might say
Seele's: I was lucky to get it on pity 27. No complaints, but I had a bit of headache giving her a bit of speed
Black Swan's: I've been enjoying DoT teams, so it felt right on giving them a bit of investment
Here are some that I want:
Silver Wolf's: I've enjoyed Silver Wolf enough to want to giver a bit of investment
Huohuo's: Seems to be a great for a lot of Abundance characters, especially the energy regeneation rate. Also because I enjoy using her on some team archetypes like DoT and Argenti's team
I dont pull for a lot of characters, so when i do i get their LC's. Loucha, Topaz, Huohuo, Argenti, Ruan Mei

Having high Effect hit on a LC helps hit the effect caps alot easier which is their top priority. It also allows dot users the potential to build ATK% body. So LC's like Black Swans and Sliverwolfs are very versatile for all dot characters and i would rate them higher.
I don't know if you are waiting for final beta changes, but I would love to see your opinion on the Acheron E0S0 situation. It seems like she's heavily reliant on future units and will underperform at the moment compared to other 5 star dps, especially at E0.
She's not. Pair her with BS and Pela and you're good. Could even run a no sustain with ruan mei
bronya lightcone is op, i buy 3 of them from shop because i hate switching lightcone/relic around
Really good video, very informative. The only one I disagree is Blade's. He has no F2P option and the only good 4*, is not really that good. His signature is the only good LC for HP scaling on his path, and he is very crit hungry.
Not only LC but his support choices aren't looking good either due to his unique HP scaling situation, while most harmonies buff Atk%
Kafka Lightcone is versatile but not because of the additional DOT. It is versatile because of the Spd it gives. The lightning DOT of Kafka's LC is the least interesting part of it since you still need an Effect Hit rate to actually be able to utilize it. It actually feels like 4.5/5 rating rather than the overselling you make it out to be. And you are underestimating the versatility of SilverWolf's and BlackSwan's LC. Silverwolf's LC could be a second best inslot to debuff centric Nihility characters like Welt, Pela and ACHERON. Meanwhile BlackSwan's LC is second best inslot to majority of DOT Nihility characters. Since rather than applying a single instance of damage, it increases the potency of multiple instances of damage. Kafka's LC is just better since turn base game relies heavily on Action Values and Kafka's LC enables you to manipulate that. It feels like you are overestimating the least valuable aspect of that LC.
I wanna just share my way of thinking about pulling for lightcones. I pull them then they provide the most comfort and make building characters much easyer. For example I pull allot of characters and dont wanna wale to much for stamina refresh, so lightcones simplify this for me
You not only know a lot about the game, but you also love this game which is why it is fun to watch your videos :)
Now all we need is a full relic set and subset breakdown for every character and you're now the goat

I got jingliu now and after that got her lightcone in the first 10 pulls with the 1600 jade from first anniversary, so for free 😂😂
Fuxuan's lc is better now, since we have stronger enemies with crazy debuffs and dots.
I pulled sparkle LC as a new 2.0 player bc of similar reasoning you gave for ruan mei where she will basically last as a timeless support and I feel the crit value gain is just so huge especially when my relic subs are lacking at TB 57 so far. Although luckily I was able to win the 50/50 and 75/25 so I have a lot of beginner resources saved for 2.1 banners lol
Yep. I got her at 30 pity and her sig at 53. Still plenty resources left.

Black swan’s lc is proc’d by her ult. As long as you have BS she can proc the def down. That makes here a great debuffer and benefits any DOT team if you have a Kafka with.
I think his point on versatility still stands even knowing that. Sure it should be rated higher but to use it on anyone else, you'd need a team that can deal all of those DoT's to do that.

I'll mostly pull sig on dps lightcones. Most dps units will benefit more from their sig lc like 10 - 15% dmg difference which is noticeable. Although Erudition specifically has good alternatives. As for my support units, they have many other options that I just use them instead which saves me pulls.
Why do you ccs emphasize solo power and not collective? It would benefit and give a lot more of versatility to an account getting Eidolons for supports that than for a single DPS. Even you said that you value versatility, there's nothing more versatility than having strong supports that can make ANY DPS powerful on the long-term.

They're never worth it to me, too many cool new characters keep getting released to justify a +10-15% power increase over the nearest 4 star LC.
I think a limited LC should be reserved for your #1 favorite character and nothing else.

I've only got 3 limited lightcones (dhIL, jl, blade). I really want sparkle's lc bc she's an amazing support. Guess i'll wait for her rerun
I had very good results with Ruan Mei's lightcone on Hanya to the point that for my teams she generates enough skill points to really not need Sparkle and the physical break damage is nothing to scoff at.
I have been curious if Sparkle's lightcone can be good on Yukong.

Another pro for weapon vs eidolons is that weapons are "cheaper" both in terms of soft pity and because its 75-25.
Totally agree, I wish this was emphasized wrt cost. The 75/25 and the 4*s on said banner are huge considerations too, but that’s more for people who pull in the future. Perhaps live/current full-banner breakdowns may be something he could do.
I haven’t pulled any lightcones yet, but I’m strongly considering Archeron’s.
As a 1.0 f2p I have only pulled 2 signature Lightcones so far, Before dawn for my King and QQ, and Night of Fright for my E1 sub dps Luocha and Huohuo to share! I reallly wish I pulled Ratio’s LC for Ratio and Yanqing but I didn’t have the jades for it 😢

@bajcli I think most people look at this stuff in a MoC and PF bubble but in high level SU that is the best thing you can bring to the table.

You didn't cover Moment of Victory? I happened to get it from the standard banner and slapped it on my Fu Xuan and it really helped her energy generation but as things are I'm tempted to go for her Light Cone in the upcoming banner. (But maybe I'll save those Jades for Aventurine to have a second 5 star sustain)
sparkle light cone is more flexible than u said, sure it cant be put on someone else directly but it literally buffs all 4 members of the team and she fits on most teams

Don't be, unless the 4 stars are garbo when it comes around. All content creators seem to judge Seele's lightcone by future potential instead of current potential.
They are imagining future Hunt chars that will like a universal light cone. Thing is, we haven't gotten any Hunts that are universal like that, and we don't have any on the horizon. Dr. Ratio and Topaz have a lot of damage gated behind follow up attacks that Seele's LC doesn't help fully. Topaz's light cone works for both her and Ratio.
If you're a FUA fan you absolutely want her lc.
the lc is very good if you are running fua, also can probably be used on both topaz and ratio to help with debuff application.
Just one slight correction which just makes an lc worse, the battle pass abundance lc heals % of the allys hp not the healer. sooooo it's bad

Amazing video! I have one question, do you think event light cones should ever come back? Like Before the Tutorial Mission Starts is f2p BiS for both Pela and SW. It sucks not to have it because I stumbled into this game a bit later, i would love to buy it with whatever currency

Which store 5 star light Conde do you recomond? I am planning on buying gepards one, seems like the best except bronyas.
Gepard’s lightcone is pretty great, it works really well for Gepard, March, and fire MC. It gives those 3 more of exactly what they want. The only question about it is whether you think it’s worth it to buy.
imo, his and Bronya’s are the only ones that are really worth considering, with Yanqing’s being a 3rd place maybe if you really need more good hunt lightcones.
Clara’s is good but basically only used on her. She also has other good alternatives, so it’s not really worth going out of your way to save up for. Nice to get randomly from pulls though.
Welt’s is pretty good, it’s a usable to solid option for most nihility characters but we have so many great options that it’s not often worth buying it.
Himeko’s is okay, upgraded from being considered kinda trash since we have pure fiction now. Still not worth buying.
And Bailu’s is kinda a situational pick, we have so many good abundance lightcones that even using it if you already have it is a hard choice most times. It’s good at what it does, but you usually want utility from your abundance lightcone instead of more damage. Not worth buying.
I really wanted to pull for sparkle's lc but I can't afford to skip acheron. I still have no lightning dps(while also lacking in aoe dps's) and getting punished for it.

I think your evaluation of hamony 5 star LCs is flawed. Harmony characters are very useable in nearly all battles. Meaning their LCs can buff whatever DPS is needed. You'll be using these LCs far more than other LCs.
I hope you also cover permanent 5* LCs next time😅😊
