My little addition to unusual tools is a pair of pantyhose. Not to wear but stretch them over the end of the vacuum on low power and it’s a good way of finding that little part that has landed on the floor and disappeared into oblivion…
Haha great idea. I have seen people do it for static grass pickup, and god only knows how many hours I've spent looking for tiny bits even after watching it them all the way to the floor only to find it on completely the other side of the room.
Always have my mechanical pencil!!! I will also say, thinking of them and wood pencils as two very different tools with overlapping uses can help give new ideas!
My carpenter's squares see action on many terrain builds, as does my old hand saw and miter box. Also aviation snips, pliers, drafting compass, yard sticks, clamps... now I think about it, I guess I still use a lot of tools from my woodworking days.
I use most of those too and mitre shears are good too, theres a tool that I dont know the name of but its a kind of hand-held, universal jig and vice in one, its got to have a name but I have only seen it described pretty much as I did, its a wooden handle with a split metal circle with holes for pegs in, you can use it as a wire shaping jig or to hold things you are working on.
seeing you mention that nail care set (you can also find similar tools sold as wax carving and sculpting tools, and get alot more variety) makes me think the inverse of this video. I have an old GW sculpting tool sitting on my desk that I use all the time. Its almost a universal tool for me with a _/\ shaped sorta hook end and a flatter I or U shaped tip at the other end. Its kinda crazy how oftern I need it when I'm not at home and wish I had it!
Mechanical pencils are good and, if you do stuff like I do, invaluable as miniature leather punches to make in scale holes in tack for miniature horses and belts for miniature action figures, lots of things as well as the greater accuracy you mentioned. I use dental tools quite a lot for clay and for heaps of things that you probably use your nail care kit for. Nail art can also provide lots of tiny components that can be used as everything from miniature jewellery to nail heads. Mind you I am working in 1:18th scale but would like to perhaps go a bit smaller. Coming to think of it, as you are speaking, I cant think of one miniaturist I know, who doesnt possess the dental tools set, its the best for clay whether its regular clay, air dry paper clay, polymer clay or my favourite, Milliput in all its forms. I did just buy some green stuff liquid clay but havent tried it yet although I hear its really good on smaller models for evening out any marks or indentations whilst prepping models. I am green with envy about your 3D printers and would love one and a laser cutter too.
Nice collection. I sometimes use a bandsaw. I even showed it in one of my vidyas. There's a table saw, here, but the housemate thinks it's a table ̶s̶a̶w̶, so it's never easy-access 🙄

Excellent video
Thank you very much!
The digital calipers are so much easier to read than the ones with standard measure. At least with my tired old eyes....
Completely agree. Complete game changer and really cuts human error out of the equation. Great bit of kit

Haha most tools have multiple uses particularly in the world of miniatures. Just need a bit of imagination right?
I'm missing the nail tools but I do have scissors in my tool cup.

Hahaha something happens to my table saw. My missus just sees it as a table
My indulgence tool is my band saw.
We all have one haha
I call my shop vacuum R2D2.
Haha great idea. Might have pinch it and give my vacuum a paint job haha
