If you want to understand the prices, just pretend 100 yen = $1.00. It's typically accurate within 10% and most expats in Japan use it as a shorthand. So 15,000 yen is about $150.
I love to hunt deals in akihabara! people there are very polite. And sometimes you cross in a very weird part places. I love to hunt some junk parts there, or to find some useless techs. It's been shrinking for the past years, but it is still that place that I love. I think there's no other place like that.
Love these videos man, hella interesting as used parts on the highstreet are usually really expensive here - shame you couldn't film inside much though.
When I was in Japan last year I ended up picking up a Sabertooth X79 mobo for a little over 100 from Janpara, a 3930K from that same sofmap for 70 and then 64GB of brand new Corsair DDR3 2400 for 350 for the 4 16GB DIMM kits from that Buy More. They were way cheaper than anywhere else in Akiba and Amazon and Newegg back home. :D
This past spring when I went to Japan I found an i7 2600k at Tsukumo for 13,000¥ which at the time was a little over $110 USD. When I got back home I picked up a used Z77 board for $60 and currently have all of that set up in my current rig overclocked to 4.7ghz. It's a HUGE improvement over my old FX 6300. Lol. Best of all, I didn't have to buy new ram by switching to a newer platform.
お帰りなさい ブライアンさん and that Raijintek Metis is a thing of beauty. I had to get SFX Power Supply to fit my zotac 1070. Airflow is also not that good so I had to literally DIY some holes on the top but this thing is tiny you can't expect more. Eagerly waiting for your build too. Keep up the good work mate. Love your videos.
i had to pause the video and search for that pc case at 3:48 cuz i liked it. its Raijintek Metis. runs from $50- $60. mod the case by using a sheet of plexi-glass as a side door and add some lights and it looks great. might be a future case to play with, but im waiting for the phanteks evolv shift case to come out.
the metis is a nice looking case and its so small and light its great for a lan pc. but they run hot so be prepared to mod it. i inverted the mobo and cut out a hole in the bottom and added a 120mm fan to feed fresh air to the gpu.
wow. so awesome, thanx for all the input. been hunting down parts and stuff in Akiba and elsewhere in Japan myself. and yes sadly, they don´t approve of taking pictures or filming inside the shops. so that´s not new. anyways great vid..;) hope to see more..;)
Great video mate looking forward to your build video on that new case :). I have the Silverstone SG11 quite impressed with its small size yet able to cram a 1080ti in it should I desire.
hey man excellent as usuall.fukuoka has some good used stuff ,so try the smaller big cities ,hioshima ,Osaka Nagoya etc while your here ,aus in fukuoka
The Raijintek Metis is a nice Case, espeacially because of the size and formfactor. But you need to buy the upgraded version with the 120mm Fan in the top or do what i did, and cut holes for 2 120mm Fans. Otherwise you don't have any Airflow in that Case. And the quality of the threads is not the greatest. Had a few that would not "bite" anymore after screwing in and out a screw a few times (i wasn't overtighten them).
a good plan to film in stores that dont like it, is to use some spycam glasses. i watch Lazy Game Reviews and thats what he uses for his thrift store hunting. he just adds a voice line after
You can consider checking taobao.com It's the ebay of China and sells dirt cheap PC parts there, new and used. They even have an offical service that deliver to Australia
🐨Thx for the video mate. Next trip take a hidden camera. Used PC parts is like that all over the world, most of the time its way overpriced and a big timewaster, always check new parts for price comparisons. Do u ever mention to the viewers that the people of japan discriminate against europeans and nonjapanese? Check out all the horror stories on other utube chanels! 🤓
You got a pretty good price on that Kurouto 1050ti. Those normally only go for almost 13k USED. I'd go out and try my luck too, but I've gotten lazy thanks to Amazon and YahooAuc.
Hey Tech Yes City dude. Have you already Osaka Namba DenDen town? last time I went there saw great deals on PC parts. Hope you will be able to check it out if your travelling Japan
yeah filming is very hard in Japan in general. There's not a 'youtube invasion' as you said, the Japanese are just very privacy conscientious and generally do not like being filmed or have their picture taken in public. Interestingly enough, by law, the shutter sound effect on smartphone camera apps cannot be disabled in Japan.
Can you bring the raijintek metis as a carry on in the plane? I’m planning to bring my pc overseas but I really don’t want to disassemble it and put them in my checked baggage because they throw stuff around in the airport.
Yeah Bic Camera owns Softmap but has been bleeding money for some time now. So they decided to convert one of their Akihabara Softmaps into a Bic Camera to get the sweet tourist cash. They even have a floor for cosmetics now. They're just cashing in on the tourist money. While Akihabara is still strong in many regards. Other places are starting to form around tokyo were you can get more specialized stuff be it electronics or anime related stuff like in Nakano Broadway or for female anime stuff Otome Road
Metis is a really cool case (cheap, aluminium). My only complaint is that it doesn't have sfx psu support but you will work out something. ;) Also my tip is to switch the exhaust fan as an intake. If you are on the move and want a compact desktop pc without spending tons of money on ncase m1 or whatver metis is the way to go.
Back home in Mexico there are some places where they accept Bitcoin (mostly small businesses). I thought that was a more common thing around the world. I guess I was mistaken.
ElZamo92 I know for a fact many larger consumer retail stores like Bic Camera accept Bcoin for a fact, but most stores are going to phase it ou, since policy with the government is, right in the beginning of AUG here in Japan. Points are huge with retail shops here giving 10 percent and duty free at major shops, so something may look ridiculously expensive at a large shop and way cheaper at a small one, but you can use those store pts same day here, and it turns out, many times the huge retail stores come in slightly cheaper here! Unless you can negotiate the price in Japanese.
the raijintek metis is readily available in the us and canada, just check on newegg.com or newegg.ca :) however those jonsbo cases, i agree, they look amazing! i just pulled the trigger on that new all tempered glass xigmatek prospect budget case (100 $CAN), hope it's as good as it looks!!!
11:48 lol, marketing BS, a 60Hz monitor with 60Hz content would be way less choppy than the image to the left.
Yeah just marketing bs
This video autoplayed in 4K... I was so confused as to why it was lagging so much
It's still processing, so it will be available at lower resolutions soon. This goes for very fresh uploads.
Your PC lags in 4k?
mine does
Same problem
get some fiber bro :P
spends $2k on flights to japan to save $50 bucks on a graphics card XD
superspeeed he also went there to see his son
@@rze2k48 why is he divorced or just working in australia
@@veridiumundaunted7978 He has been divorced for a long time, he used to live in Japan ways back
Wow they actually put anime characters on their drink machines in Tokyo
I guess it's because Akihabara is the geek area of Tokyo
I wish there was an infinite amount of new videos from you. Can't stop, won't stop :))))
Its crazy to see the deals 3 years ago. The same 1050ti sells for $280-$330 new on Newegg as of Jan 2021.
That's the kinda content you don't get from any other tech reviewer/youtuber - love it
Q77 is a business chipset and non overclockable.
obviously no teachers and librarians would use OC and neither would the people who work at call centers etc...
I never heard of Q77, is that like a Q6600 ??? 🤓
MrSamadolfo, No it's a motherboard chipset.
It's a chipset for LGA 1155 Chips (i3-5-7 2xxx, 3xxx)
oh ok 🙂

Loving the 4K footage! Really makes the trip fun to watch, almost like I'm experiencing it as well.
I hope you get to hangout with your son! Maybe do a father/son computer build!
Ryan Daniels is that his actual son?
Nagoyen He isn't in the video. His son is really young, not sure if he has a second older son.
sorry for the lack of context, I meant the kid he made the video with that one time when he hunted parts
yeah
edit: i believe.
Nagoyen yes
I love these videos. One of the reasons why I subscribed a few years back
Made my day when I saw the notification for this video on my phone.
Heading there in a week to browse pc parts too. Thanks for sharing your experience Bryan
As i know, sofmap is a subsidiary of bic camera group. That's why that sofmap is now replaced by bic camera.
Emusify Both are the same indeed. Akiba ichigouten or first retail shop oprned right near the Sofmap by BicCamera store, in Akiba.

Chew Bug don’t you mean immigrant?
Bryan, mate, this is the content that is effing gold! Keep it up! I can/will watch this EVERY. SINGLE. DAY!!

Awesome video. I'm off work for a bit now so I'm going to see if I can pick up some of these deals. Hope that 670's still there tomorrow.
Good video , felt like I was actually shopping in Japan haha
This really takes me back to the Bryaneasy vlogs, and now you have 200k subs! Keep it up man!
Love these videos man, hella interesting as used parts on the highstreet are usually really expensive here - shame you couldn't film inside much though.
Raijintek Metis cases were sold at pccg for $45 about 6 months ago
I love your channel and videos! Keep up the good work I'm obsessed with your used parts builds.
AMAZING video. Watched start to end... interesting to see what computer parts are like in Japan.
I do like looking in Yodobashi Camera for new PC parts, and I've gotten them to price match Amazon before on a DSLR.
Akihibara Accept

MrSammy Pc parts aren't very heavy, they are just big.

I wouldn't travel with more than a laptop, honestly.
I just learned of Jonsbo last nite on pcpartpicker, they make some quality parts. Im getting the cr-201 for my 7700k.

Q77 is a business-grade chipset, so I doubt you can overclock. If you're after stability though, it's a very nice chipset to go for.
Ahh yeee back in japan. Hows the boy??! We need another father son parts hunt down!!
