As a classical organist, what I love is Emerson's obvious love of the original work. In many ways, it's almost identical to the original keyboard version of the work.
Keith Emerson turned me on to the greatness of some classics. Had church organist play Promenade as part of our wedding music. She dug having something different.
The first 30 seconds are a classic '80s thrash metal intro before thrash metal (or even metal) was invented. Amazing prog rock though, digging their discography right now.
MasterKlaw what does that have to do with anything? I grew up listening to Black Sabbath and ELP 50 years ago, I still listen to ELP on a daily basis but I wouldn't give you 5 cents for all of the Black Sabbath albums ever made . Just saying. There is no comparison !
Does anyone have an idea of how he obtained that stunning bass sound at 1:17? Seems an overdriven wah, but cannot actually figure out the proper setting or which kind of wah was using
It's a brilliant show! Next episode is out today, going to watch that immediately after getting home. Check out Genesis, Gentle Giant and / or Van der Graaf Generator. You might like them.
Yes, absolutly, this is a cover of a piece by the russian composer Mussorgky (I hope thisis the right way to write the name). If you like metal the band Mekong Delta also made a cover based on this version but it's only called The Hut of Baba Yaga, it's an instrumental only. There's another metal band, Samael, that used the intro of the original piece in their song Baphomet's Throne. Here'sthe original by Mussorgsky ruclips.net/video/tO5p-gNyVlo/видео.html
It would be awesome to see in a movie that features Baba Yaga playing this at some point, some sort of Percy Jackson-esque film that has myths and legends in the modern world, baba yaga would be some old lady playing this on a vinyl
Does anyone know Greg Lake's bass guitar pedal configuration? Like, was it a separate fuzz and a separate wah or a wah with a fuzz effect built in? Brand names? Much appreciated!
Hey, they are just playing Mussorgsky, it's a very famous piece. Orchestral versions are all over RUclips. ;) The whole album is just synth version of "Pictures at an Exhibition".
Lol they don’t get the reference, but I get it! Honestly, the way Araki references music to this day is so fun, like I am discovering more and more to add to my playlists.
For me, it's the other way around, I started listening to prog rock first, and since everyone talked about JoJo in the comment sections, I decided to give JoJo a try. So far, I've finished reading phantom blood and i honestly loved it.
@@Tarkus-Ivalice-dweller If you liked phantom blood then you will love the next parts; phantom blood is considered by many the weakest and most boring part of jojo, but if you enjoyed it the other seven parts will amaze you. A brother of mine bought this album when he was 14, I was 3. Hearing this as a 3 year old set my taste in music for the rest of my life.
I heard this album in 1973, I was 5, bad ass music, nothing can be like ELP., Thanks for the share.
I feel like I'm spiraling infinitely while listening to that beginning, so good.
The baddest ass drummer who ever drummed a drum !
And bill bruford😂😂
I would give anything to listen to these guys again in concert

Check out the "Barbarian" on the first album. Bartok's "Allegro Barbaro." Which is a great piece for piano.

In fact the first time I listened to this was by a prog metal band called Mekong Delta, you should listen to their version.
Way before Metal was invented) In was composed 1874 by Russian composer Mussorgsky.

What do people say about Carl Palmer's tempo? I tried doing a search, but found nothing specific yet.

Sounds like a wah and overdrive to me as well.
Definitely a mix of Fuzz and Wah.
Definitely a Wah with a synth effect.
It's a Morley FuzzWah pedal.

This is a fabulous musical experience.
The bass should be played like THAT!!!!
awesome music of the greatest prog rock band
Camel,Magma,CAN,RUSH,Museeo Rosenbach,Gentle Giant, and Hawkwind might also be contenders for this I think. ELP is definetely one of them though.
