Hello, greetings from Pontassieve, province of Florence, Italy. I have a Suzuki Jimmy 4x4 with a 1.3 litre M13A petrol engine, manufactured in 2001, all original, which I often use on dirt roads on rural farms and on dirt forest roads used by loggers to get wood from the forest. With forestry tractors, with skidders and forwarders, and with forestry trucks used to transport wood! And this is even though a 4x4 off-roader with original configuration behaves very well on this type of forest and rural dirt and gravel roads!

Our young men's club used a Suzuki Samaria (not quite a chevy tracker) as a support vehicle in the hills where we ran a trail ride (horses) in the 90's to raise money for the Children's Wish Foundation and Cancer Care. Of course all us guys drove a chev ford or dodge 4x4 as dailies, but my family have been into IH trucks for 98 years. I have a few. I also have neighbour's who came from Italy about 40 years ago to farm. We grow good corn, potatoes and beef up here.

Dude! I always figured re-arching springs meant taking them to someone to do it. I make and fix a ton of things, just never figured re-arching was a something to do myself. Nice…looking forward to seeing your work. Cheers, Erik @mitchellcrickgarage

For some reason I had it in my head that re arching leaves involved shaping them while heated to cherry red and then re tempering them back to springs. I will definitely be building my own re arching press now, thanks for the info. Looking forward to the coverage of the trip, all that prep work will be so worth it! Take care; 'til next time...

I paid to watch a foriegn craftsman re-arc my first set. I had him add 1 extra under the main leaf. I added FS ride rite bags so that half ton could handle a trailer. Then I paid way too much to have re-arc and 2 leafs added to my LBZ Duramax trailer puller. I also added ride rites to it. The next Duramax I did all myself. Re-arc, polished the leafs so they could react to the road, doubled up the 3 secondaries, added a Super Springs overload and skipped the air bags for now. Very happy with the outcome of the last one.

I used to live in Durango. For good food, check out Serious Texas BBQ. The million dollar highway is always a beautiful drive.

This year is definitely no good for me but I am putting this event on my bucket list. I have been a little skittish about taking my Scout on really long trips since it is impossible to find parts for the diesel if anything were to happen but it has been flawless for so long that I am pretty confident she could make it no problem.

Can you put a spare on the outside of the bed, on the running board just ahead of the rear fender?
