    The alarming noise of silence on being asked "Why the Rat Race?" is really terrifying!
    Apparently peer-pressure does not have all the answers, just another reason to steer clear of it.

    I was watching this video with full concentration. Most of us watch MBA related content on the internet to find out what kind of life does a B-school give you and what to do in order to get into a top job. But Seema Mam beautifully explained how important it is to choose a job that you would enjoy doing and at the same time cleared our doubts on how we would still be financially stable if we we worked in a field that we loved

    Discovering yourself is a luxury few can afford in a country like India. It’s a very western concept, that to it is confined to the upper classes. On a lighter note, our Company driver when we were kids had 2 wives in Punjab. One wife was kept in his village in the Punjab while the other wife was kept at home ministering to his needs.

    how do you identify a consultant at Airport ?
    Ans : One who is in Suit!
    I come from a Tier 2 B- school , and had kind of started from job of Insurance selling, and gone on to find myself a role at Consulting firm(it took me 6 years of persistence there) travelled Came back to India and joined the largest investment Bank . I came back to India,even though i will make probably half of what i was making there. Priorities change! in past 7 years my package has gone 7x (albeit a low base ) . I realize, what she is speaking is absolutely right. I would never have thought in my wildest dream i would not choose money and an offer outside India! Yet here i am.
    Honestly i was more happier when i was making so less money compared to what i am making now. Hence i feel Money can only go as far to make you happier. Other things soon overtake!
    By far one of the Best talks on this channel.

    • @InsideIIMKonversations
      @InsideIIMKonversations  5 лет назад +9

      A lot of people have their own way and pace to do things. SWOT analysis is a great way to discover yourself but experiences that you encounter when you are at a b-school, which gives you even more insight in discovering yourself. And not just a b-school, but same can be said for a new job, new place, new experiences, etc. :)

      Learnings are everywhere around you. Colleges offer you a cocoon where you discover yourself, make friends (network), follow curriculum & hobbies. In terms of personality 5% of ppl are down to earth, 10% are highly competitive. Rest 85% being mediocre in MBA but grow very fast after college.

    I've already seen 15-20 of these videos! And they somehow make me realise that the people who don't go to these tier 1 b schools don't end up having a life. And that's really sad. Are IIM's only for bragging and self praise? I know people who didnt go to any fancy b school and still make piles of cash every year. And o didn't come here for all these self praise and stuff..But to get an insight Into why companies pay them so much as compared to students from other colleges and what sets them apart. Clearly so far no insights.

    • @vaibhav3946
      @vaibhav3946 5 лет назад +11

      because World need brand name....this is applicable everywhere!!
      and there is huge difference between the teaching method in IIM and im other b schools.

    • @cr7rulz97
      @cr7rulz97 4 года назад +37

      I'll try to answer this:
      Are there potentially great students who graduate from other b-schools? Most definitely! But is there also a high risk of the person to not perform? There is. This is because what a good profile (say 9/9/9), or a good college more likely reflect are a work ethic that a person has been cultivating for long enough, and hence is more reliable. Simply speaking, even if the probability of a candidate from tier-2/3 b schools to perform/deliver exceptionally at a company is certainly existent, the opportunity cost of hiring a lot of people who eventually don't deliver and hence become a problem is too high.
      Let's use an example:
      BCG recruits 100 people from say tier 0 b schools. The chances of (say) 90 out of the 100 to perform satisfactorily are high, because data shows so (past achievements, work ethic etc.). Doing the same from a smaller b school, even if they recruit 100, chances are only 50 will perform satisfactorily, and even if some of the 50 are exceptional (better than tier 0 people), the remaining 50 who do not deliver will have a negative impact that simply cannot be offset by those few outliers in question.
      Companies realize that hiring is a complex/flawed process, and not a single interview can decide a candidate's worth, and hence to statistically reduce the margin for error, they set prerequisites to assess reliability (past performance)
      To be honest, if you can prove to them that you are as good as anyone in the firm they'll gladly take you in. Though in typical situations it translates to working extra hard to seize opportunities and build a network, and at the end of the day, if it is your dream to work at a certain kind of role, no one can stop you!
      So don't worry too much (at all!) on what you do not have, and instead respect this journey that has taught you all that you know today. Remember, opportunities are like buses...there's always another one coming (Sir Richard Branson). If you believe in yourself, I shall too! I Wish you the very best in this beautiful world!

    Hmm

    Thanks to Isha Inner-engineering program !!
    Yea ..as for me I wanted to be a Fighter pilot ..its the only job in the world which requires the dual qualities of( sachin tendulkar + Einstein) no other job demands this kind of a dichotomous personality trait which actually enables one to take Split second decisions inside the cockpit where even 2 seconds is a Big Time during combat flying.
    Also as a combat air crew your corner office is at 35000 feet .& you routinely travel at Mach speeds ( 1700 km plus) & as a miltary pilot your everyday assignment is to fly & manage a 200 crore project ( war plane) that can decide the fate of a nation & your reporting boss is GOD himself becuz when you go up u never know if u would make it back to terra-firma & your variable salary Component includes Death apart from other earthly remunerations.
    In short your CTC is your.. "Next birth" ..

    • @gss2129
      @gss2129 4 года назад

      krishnan R ok, agree with a lot of what you said at the beginning..
      but how are CTC and next birth connected ?
      it surely was an interesting line.. but logically found it a bit off the mark..
      CTC becomes the plane you just crashed and the AMT they spent on you (whomsoever we consider in this situn, not literally you, just figurative) for training and salary uptill that point.. plus the pension your family deserves and would recieve.. plus ofcourse finding replacement for both the plane and the deceased.
      Now that's the CTC as I understand.. what do you think ?
