There are circlip pliars that are designed for re bending the brass circlip correctly in place easily, I have 2 versions of circlip pliars, 1 of them is made by Souber Tools in United kingdom, but don't know who manufactures the other pair I own.
The sparrows Gut Wrench is also a good tool for removing circlips, also designed in United kingdom by LockNoob for sparrows.
The pliars you used to remove the circlip are usually called circlip pliars but there are 2 versions, 1 type that opens outwards when you squeeze the handles together, the other type opens inwards when you squeeze the handles together.

Thanks for the information. I went out and bought a pair of my own from a local hardware store here in the states. Already had the gutting tool from locknoob
