      I actually made a drawing of Mickey as Reed, Minnie as Sue, Donald as Johnny, and Goofy as Ben Grimm.

    Technically, this _wasn't_ Mickey's first short, that title belongs to _Plane Crazy._ It's just that this short is the more well-known, like how Bela Lugosi's portrayal of Dracula isn't the first portrayal of Dracula on film, but it is the most iconic.

    Was Plane Crazy allowed into public domain?

    • @haakenbailey7381
      @haakenbailey7381 5 месяцев назад +1

      Sort of. The original silent version of the short is in the public domain, however, it is currently lost media. The sound version is still under copyright, as it was originally released in 1929.
      Gallopin' Gaucho, the second Mickey Mouse cartoon, both in production and in release, is a slightly different beast entirely. Like Plane Crazy, the silent version is public domain. As for the sound version, it has a copyright notice of 1929, but was released to theatres in late December of 1928, putting its copyright status in a grey area.
