  • Finally answering the question everyone has been asking me for years now. What happened with Gotham Dream Cars. Some things are bigger than youtube and are beyond what I can share openly on this platform. While there is still more info, drama, and content to come of this, this is a step.

Yup lol I get what happened but what makes me confused is he got canned by a company running under his own name, why didn't they just pull the name from the rental shop? Why didn't he get a lawyer after the first check he got was 45k short.
Like he said, there's specifics he's excluding so im sure once legal matters are settled, it'll make more sense

He sold his business to work as a employee. To get a steady paycheck and not deal with the ownership problems. Instead to keep things running and making money he acted like an owner vs employee without getting paid for expenses. Seen it happen many times. Ex owners who stay on as employees want their reputation to be upheld. They keep things running like they own it. The new owners didn't want to pay. Nickle and diming.

From the way Rob is talking, everybody has lawyered up. I don't know the particulars of this case and how much $$$$ we are talking about, but I sometimes think companies are absolute fools with their lawyers. Try and weasel your way out of paying somebody, you get sued, then you spend all that $$$$ you saved on lawyer fees. Lawyers aren't cheap.

You also usually get a big chunk of change you can invest into expansions. The chain I work at sells some properties, leases it from the new owner and then uses the money paid to expand to new locations in the hope of increasing overall income. They pay more per month on rent but get paid $2 million or so and open a new location with that. Risky if the new location fails hard, great if it also produces a lot of money.

    Rob,
I manage a slaughterhouse in Colorado. Somewhat similar situation to yours. I have worked for the owner of the company for almost 8 years, the last two years I have been contracted as a DBA 1099. This Friday would be the 30 day mark of not paying me. We recently had a 3rd party audit for a certification to sell to Whole Foods. We passed with a 97% acceptance rate (This is nearly impossible to achieve). In order to obtain such a high score, I had to invest into a lot of materials and labor out of my pocket to just pass the audit, let alone a 97% passing grade. At this stage with multiple attempts to collect and over $10k owed, what do you do? Just stop working for someone you’ve worked with for almost a decade? Go to small claims and surely be fired? I have little to no legal power as a 1099.
Any suggestions would be helpful... I’m cutting my living expenses left and right to make it through.
    Thank you,
    -Kyle

SO CONFUSED. I know zilch about running a business and intricate corporate dealings. Can some please clarify? This video made me more confused. How does he own GDC but doesn't own GDC facilities and got fired by the company he owns??? Was he basically franchising GDC? I'm genuinely curious.

Let's take your local Krogers as an example. Krogers builds a new grocery store, but they don't want to deal with all the issues of running a property and they also get a tax advantage from leasing, so they sell the property they built to a property management company and lease the property back from them. They still own Krogers, they are just leasing the building from a from another investor and getting tax advantage. In this case Mr. Spaghetti, sold the cars and property to an investment company and continued to operate GDC using those properties and cars. In this case there would be a revenue split (kind of like a franchise).

And then whine about it to the RUclips world? That's like the folks posting their own car crash video and trying to blame it on the 'other guy' when it is so obvious it was their own fault!

Ok so to break it down for those who don't know what Rob was talking about... GDC brought on a third-party logistic company to help coordinate their rentals in the NJ location by helping distribute rentals and help with their fulfillments. They agreed to come on board by sharing 50/50 profits and took over the lease of the building. Third-party company started to flake, Rob wasn't getting paid, drama ensued between both parties, lawsuits were filed, and Rob was evicted from the building.

Rob i have a question that has nothing to do with your video but I’d like to hear your input. What is your honest opinion on a Shelby Series 1, I’ve asked this somewhere else and just like the internet people are ignorant on what they tell me. I just want to hear what you have to say about it and if you’ve ever had any experience with one in your line of work. If you do respond, thanks in advance.

The oldsmobile engine sucked, but it looked pretty cool. For $50-75k not a bad buy. Anything more than that (and I have no idea what they are trading for) is a waste. Shares a lot of control knobs and the such with part bins.
