I produced and directed this concert video so I can tell you that the audience was all animé fans who had lined up around the block and waited for hours to be there. P.S. The guitar solo is by James Harah who was in Madonna's band at the time. P.P.S. I had no influence on Chisa's wardrobe. : >)
Where was this at? To pull off something like this today would be unheard of since they don’t really bring Seiyuus to sing let alone have both the English actress and seiyuu sing together
@@quatrovagina Hi QV, This concert took place in a concert club on Santa Monica Pier called the Ash Grove which closed 1n 1997. I was producing all the English language versions of Pioneer's animé music at the time and was asked by Pioneer to stage and direct a live concert of Chisa singing all her songs from Tenchi Muyo for a concert DVD. I put a killer band together of top Los Angeles musicians and rented the Ash Grove club and put out the word to the Animé community who packed the place. Sharyn, who sang with Chisa in English was actually the singer that I used when I recorded the english versions for the TV series.
Yes, that's Marco (from Thin Lizzie and Journey) on bass, Joey Heredia (Stevie Winder, Sheila E.) on drums, James Harrah (Madonna, Ziggy Marley) on guitar, and Michael Ruff (Chuck Kahn, Lionel Richie) on keys.
I love this song! One of my most beloved anime songs and especially since the Tenchi series were long over, the song reminds me of a great series. The japanese version is nice but I prefer Sharyn Scott's version of it more so. This concert is very nice to showcase Chisa's english interpretation of it!
Whoever knew such a fantastic version of Talent For Love existed? With both vocalists no less! Ive always loved the way Chisa Yokoyama sings the Japanese version, so its fantastic hearing her sing the English version in the same way. many thanks! maybe one day all these tenchi extras will be bundled together in one awesome package hu? ^^ well i can dream cant i...
Oh man. I was a huge Tenchi fan back in the day and forgot this video even existed. Chisa Yokoyama still holds a special place in my heart and this Entlish. Thanks guys.
Maann, I knew this song through Tenchi Muyo ! At the time, I was just a kid and was just trying to mimic lyrics 'cause I couldn't understand english. Then I grew up and happened to listen to it. I laughed good when I realised how they had hundreds of kids happily singing such lyrics, but hey, I love it even more now !
Hi Wallace, I just noticed your comment from last year. I produced the concert and yes, the guitar player that I hired is fantastic. His name is James Harrah and he was in Madonna's touring band at the time.
It amazes me how much this video seems to demonstrate how each is superior in this song in their own language. Chisa definitely does better in the Japanese version than Sharyn in hte english but Sharyn nails the english cover with such skill and passion that it has it's own magic.
Not really a counterpoint, but you know that Japanese lyrics are very different in meaning, right? Plus, I personally think that Sharyn edges out Chisa on most Tenchi covers. I have CDs of both but I listen to the English covers much more often.
Well, I think your Japanese counterpart would think the opposite if they were singing the Japanese version but for the most part be saying the exact same thing.
It's heartwarming to see Chisa getting down to this.

@@quatrovagina We rented a club on the Santa Monica pier called the Ash Grove where we staged and videotaped the concert. Glad you liked it :)
Funny because the bassist is Marco Mendoza!

Chisa does such a damn good job with the English part :)
Chisa Yokoyama sounds soooooo cute! She did her best, and she did a great job!

Adorable duo.
Still watching Tenchi Muyo just for this song! Amazing!! Talent for love!! :)

They're both wonderful singers. Sharyn Scott deserves more credit.
that song is really cute in Chisa' voice and Sharyn has an excellent live voice
Awesome Video. I am always listening to their songs but have never seen their face.
Awesome video. I'm going to sing this song for a concert soon
i love both of them. i wonder if chisa is still doing anything and it's sad to see that sharyn's career didn't develop, at least not that i've seen.
Thanks for upload !!
Wow......this is a rare find......
oh gosh, that was waaay too kawaii! I really loved this duet! I love this song soooo much! thanks for sharing!
Why does this video have 60k likes but only 24k views? I can't believe youtube censored tenchi content. Give me a break

Amazing guitar solo 😉

@@kitter1 thank you so much for remembering my comment! 😆 And for the information!
Wow, that's so cool!
man i miss the series :(

😍😍😍😍😘
omg what a cute dress
Chisa Yokoyama is so full of spirt
Yo that guitar solo tho. That guy can shred
Kumi Koda sang her english version of Real Emotion
she sounds cute
It's possible that that's a translated version of the second verse, in case that still matters. I don't think a full English version was ever released
like i said like 1 month ago. she sounds better and younger in another vid
Fanboy:
"OH SNAP it's Sakura Shinguji's voice actress X3"
you try singing in another language where the pronuncation is a good deal different than w/e you speak, then talk about them
Chisa's great! Only Ai Orikasa tops her in singing talent.
The crowd doesn't look like they were there to hear anime theme songs.
So why didn't Sharyn Scott sing the Japanese verses? It's only fair, isn't it?
I know, and because the American anime market has become "niche" to Bandai Entertainment, they'll just stick to licensing.
Well, I think your Japanese counterpart would think the opposite if they were singing the Japanese version but for the most part be saying the exact same thing.
she's better in another better
ちーちゃんケアンズに語学留学してたんじゃ?ラリアは訛りが強いから英語のそれには向かないよ?
Mejor en japonés
That is a hideous dress.
I'm sure Chisa sings well in Japanese, but this makes me embarassed for her.
