I remember having a bad day with a critically ill patient. I took a deep breath outside the door,put on a smile, walk into the room of the next patient and got ambushed like this.
I lost it when the “patient” demanded Dilaudid 🤣
I literally have a patient right now who's in the ED for abdominal pain and fentanyl detox, yelling for Dilaudid
Honestly why don't u guys give them a small dose of it to get the edge off and u can talk to them when they're slightly better for treatment. Fentanyl detox is worse than normal heroin or any opiate pill it's incredibly painful. They are legitimately sick so why can't you treat it like a real sickness?

Haha dilaudid, used it for breakthrough pain for avascular necrosis. Built up a tolerence so freaking fast it's scary. Plus it didn't make me drowsy or anything similar to Targin. Kind of scary.

I was growing a tumor in my appendix. Did not ask for anything just that they figure out how I look nine months pregnant, tubes tied and this went from barely swollen abdomen to in going to explode in a week. The one nurse was a bitch saying you’re probably just another drug seeker. Doc was amazing and kicked her off my case and did imaging after which I was rushed into the operating room. SMH it is the ones who aren’t abusing duck all who suffer for those who need mental health help but aren’t receiving it and end up self medicating. It is horrible because mental health patients are suffering, pain patients acute and chronic are paying for this and all because of the war on drugs which actually was supposed to target the cartel and those smuggling drugs over the border. Instead ppl like my friends mom who literally has mouth cancer, her mouth is so full of cancerous sores that she cannot even eat and they give her very little pain relief and are reducing it even though the cancer is getting worse not better. They also had her on a tube feeding system but decided to pull that because dealing with her insurance was too much of an inconvenience so she’s wasting away in excruciating pain. She never smoked/chewed or drank or did any drugs. They still treat her like garbage. It is truly disgusting and things need to be changed drastically.

@@kirstenornelas881 thank you so much for understanding that it’s not just the addicts who are at fault. (I don’t have substance abuse issues, it just really irks me when people blame the mentally ill for greater societal issues). Blaming substance abusers is just deflecting blame from the legislation that’s actually responsible for lack of accessible/adequate support for mental and behavioral health issues, as well as furthering a cycle of poverty and repeat incarceration + unemployment that only keeps people in the drug trade.
I would be afraid to go to that hospital. I would probably bleed out because the staff was too busy boinking each other.

I never knew what dilauded was til I had it once, I had been on morphine but I was having an allergic reaction to it and Hydrocodone wasn't working. It was one of the many times I was admitted into the hospital. I wasn't allergic to morphine at first...I didn't know you could develope an allergic reaction.

Dilaudid is the pain medicine I use when I have flare ups from my chronic pain and it sucks to use it. I get exhausted after I use it. It kills the pain and that is worth being exhausted the next day.
