Looking forward to the educational videos. I'd write this off as just another RUclips trumpet high note video, except that your other videos demonstrate that you are a great all around player. Looking forward to the next video :)
Well your very good I like your videos I find at 71 I an just starting on an old well worn trumpet and it does not sound like yours, but I will keep going and if I get better will buy a new one.
What a performance. You do a great job, congratulations from my side. I'm so sorry, that there are no other educational vids in your channel. I'm trumpet-teacher and I would appreciate some tipps especially for my students and me as well ;-)
Hi Paul You make a fantastic sound while using that developed system that You are discribing. Would You like to tell more in detail how that You came to this system, for instance, the way you're presetting the lips on the mouthpiece, before starting to play. I think, this is all very interesting to learn from. Thanks, Herman (the Netherlands).
Big compliment and respect to your work.. fantastic this is the way you should be.. If you don’t mind me I ask you for your equipment especially your mouthpiece.. Appreciate your answer thank you very much for sharing your knowledge.
Hi. I play a Monette B4S S2 82 Prana a fantastic mouthpiece. Didn't work for me in the beginning but everything takes time and I'm glad I stuck with it. All best, Paul
What kind of horn are you getting that you mentioned in the video and why do you need it to show your new system. Does it offer different qualities than your current horns? Thanks for this great vid, have been a fan for years and look forward to your next post about this subject.
Wow!!! Looking forward to the educational videos... do you plan to put your system on a book or something??? It is extremely interested.. ... you have excellent control over the entire register..... I think it is very difficult to play so high and don't sound like a lead player in a big band. ..., Thanks for the demonstration! !!
très différente des autres méthodes de trompettes!!!mais la votre semble terriblement efficace et plus relaxe et sans détriment pour la sonorité grand merci je vais travailler dans ce sens quelle embouchure?
well you need a lot of practice in general. You also need to spend more time on the upper register but also dont forget the pedal tones which it sounds illogical but it helps build the higher one,at least what I have heard(I have to little experience on that to confirm it). I tried this technique and it helped me a bit ruclips.net/video/jn0GnOX4FwM/видео.html I searched some exercises for the upper register that I use and dont forget to practice! God bless you.
Great sound. Good attachs. Good clarity of sound. What genre of music do you usually play? Finally, I have never heard you play in the upper range of the trumpet like this. Your good at it. What, however, is the point in playing so darn high. I did hear some rather flat tones at the beginning of the video. But for most part good intonation. What is the trumpet?
paul, i started a thread on Trumpetherald with this video attached, lots of interest, maybe you could jump in with some comments about your system. thanks tom
Quite impressive, Paul. I notice that you seem to "smile" before playing these phrases. Many people advise not doing this because it tends to put more pressure on the lips and teeth and will produce a weak tone, as opposed to "puckering". I am sure you have a rationale for this that makes sense. I am looking forward to hearing your further comments. Bob
I am so sorry but there is no warmth in your attacks, very unmusical. Also your intonation is all over the place and unspeakably poor. I am hearing this after your wonderful Arban etude recordings on cornet. I am puzzled! So sorry!
Yes, it's terrible how he effortlessly triple-tongues the G above high C with perfect intonation. A shame, really. I, for one, am certainly glad that I can't even dream of performing such unmusical feats!

Cool, Professor Mayes. It is a magic system, I benefit from it too much. Looking forward to more video. Cheers.

My son ( who you teach) thinks you are amazing...
Any tips on how to improve getting those high notes? :D

Pat Plummer the point in playing that high (and higher) is badass lead playing. silly

Jon Faddis does something similar
Do you have a facebook page or website? I am really interested en your system.
Yes ❤
7:59 - you just played some keyboard piece by Bach, I think! (at a supercharged tempo) But I can't remember what it's called for the life of me....
It's Solfeggietto - Bach
I SERIOUSLY recommend an Electro-Voice RE20 microphone for recording trumpet.
Seriously.
what kind piece?
What mouthpiece are you playing?
You had me at Paganini
I'm in.
holy hell!
How?!?!
I can only play a high E or F with a half decent sound. Clearly I need work.
I am so sorry but there is no warmth in your attacks, very unmusical. Also your intonation is all over the place and unspeakably poor. I am hearing this after your wonderful Arban etude recordings on cornet. I am puzzled! So sorry!
Rick your comments are poor. Why don't you put a video on here then we can all appraise your musicianship.

Still waiting for Rick Hamilton to blow us all away with his brilliant playing....
