What gets me annoyed about the variants is the ones that are just maskless head sculpts could have easily been in the original figure. The color swap figures I couldn’t care less
Whaaaaaattt??? Somebody who speaks facts???😨 Add to that while people are clapping Tom McFarlane's comments saying that "he refuses to go woke" he's also not going to put guns in the action figures that uses a gun as a weapon. That's the part that gets me he tries to make believe he's some stand-up guy going against the machine but yet he's doing exactly what the machine is telling him to do. "No more Guns"
My problem is too much batman. If he was going to do this he should've called it the multiverse of Batman. Like seriously out of every line he's released. It's mostly all Batman or a character attached to Batman. I love me some Batman but damn man this is too much. Can you imagine if Hasbro's Marvel Legends line was full of nothing but Captain America figures and every so often sprinkle in a new character. That would f'ing suck. I love my icons line though. It's nice looking at a shelf of multiple different DC characters.
Watched your few rant videos and I completely agree on most points. If your a completionist, respect bc I sure as heck won’t put in that kind of $ for as many variants as we get with McFarlane. Otherwise I hope people listen and understand that are new to the game that all the random storyline figures are not worth your hard earned money unless you just absolutely love that story. Stick to the “classic” comic versions and you won’t be steered wrong. Or just your favorites, don’t let RUclips/the internet tell you what to buy bc it’s hot that week! Nicely done man.
I already have Classic versions of the characters that I want. Do I really need another tight spandex suit Batman on my shelf? No. Personally, I really enjoy getting different versions of the characters, such as the Death Metal Batman figure. A change is as good as a rest😁
Azrael Batman is nice, good addition. Bane is very cool looking & I probably will get him but he is 100% too big. I know it’s cool to get big figures but the fact is Bane is a human. He’s a human on crazy ass steroids, but he’s just a human. He shouldn’t be that much bigger than Batman. He should be much more muscular than Batman and a bit taller but not THAT much taller & more muscular.
I respect enough that you clarified your original video. There are lots of figures I dont care for in this line ie. Jokerized characters, so I simply don't buy them. But I wouldn't call the entire line trash. The figures are still nice, they're just not for me. And the second point, I have no problem with the people who buy the variants and review them. They can spend their money on them so I dont have to. I'll generally watch reviews before I pull the trigger on some figures, meanwhile others I don't hesitate. For example, I saw Red Hood release photos, and I knew I was getting him.
I want the gold/ bronze variants because they fit into my dc direct Arkham collection. But they're so rare I can't get them and I'm not paying over MSRP for these. I haven't bought any of these variants. I don't think they're taking away any opportunities for new characters either because new molds cost money so even if he didn't make these lazy variants it doesn't mean he has the money to make another character. And batman is what sells. His target audience is young boys not adult collectors. So he's going to be pumping out Batman.
I agree with everything you said in both videos every wave is a wastes opportunity and McFarlane is still stuck on the 90s action figure variant trope specifically his gold variants, he's done those from day one in the 90s and re-releasing the exact same figure with a different weapon or unmasked head sculpt as apposed to just including it taking up a spot in the wave or wasting an exclusive... his retro spawn is a perfect example of that! The thimg I was most hyped for hearing he got the dc license across all media was movie and television figures, the Mattel 90s flash, linda Carter wonder woman, Batman returns penguin and Val kilmer Batman are my absolute favorite Mattel dc figures next to the dcuc young justice Batman and robin figures!... if he just did a dc multiverse movie sub line he could knock out all the main cast in just a few waves and I'm all for another keaton Batman... really looking forward to a flashpoint keaton Batman but if we get another classic keaton I want the returns suit and not yet another 89 suit... hell he could do a whole line of just 66 Batman villains even in that 66 retro series which I hope he does cuz a king tut or egghead would blow my entire collection out of the water:)!
I'm a big fan of Wonder Woman, Zatanna, Hawkman and Dick Grayson Robin but that guy has a huge weird Fetish fur Batman and Batman only and it shows. Plus we get the rock as Black Adam in the atomic farlin line but we get no Shazam? Where does that make sense? Shouldn't we have gotten a Shazam figure first? 😨 Todd McFarlane's comments I've decided vyo personally boycott him. Sorry sb old man talking like that is sick. I have Mafex and Hasbro Marvel Legends that I love Also you're not wrong when you're saying that someone of RUclipsrs are faking it because look at Shartimusprine video interviewing Todd McFarlane and look at some of the comments that Todd makes Shartimusprine looks extremely uncomfortable the whole thing was just an act
Chad I didn’t know any about your channel came up on my feed trust I learned on Instagram right away this community is toxic they get butt hurt as soon as you talk truth or criticize factories superhero. Mcfarlane figures are amazing but he should be producing variety so I get what you are saying
They make variants so they can get their moneys worth, you know they have to make new molds which costs a lot of money, like bro you need to acknowledge that, you know its a bussiness at the end of the day.
I don't know why he's making such a big deal out of it. I mean every figure line does it. Like pretty much every Optimus Prime has a white variant and a black variant etc. It's hardly anything new.
It's a matter of choice. Yes, people can get annoyed with all those variants. Yes, Todd made figures out of stories which not everyone is a fan of, but it all ends up with your preference. You don't need to badmouth a line for some of the toys they put out. There are still fans of that figures, whether it's just a few or whatever, but it's all a matter of choice. You want it, buy it. You don't, then don't buy it.
Agreed DC Collectibles was better while. McFarlane DC Multiverse line has been so bad and putting out figures no one asked for and as a huge DC fan that is disappointing to say they least. We need a lot of the core DC Comics characters not a Batman figure every wave we get. Also we need more DC Films both current and classic and DCTV Figures from both the classic and current shows. McFarlane DC Multiverse figures have been not a good line in my view few cool figures but not enough variety up to this point.
You didn't mention the scalpers/flippers that buy the gold versions and sell them on line for $100 buckaroos.... reuse of figures is a necessary evil for toy producers... If they sell that gives them money for new molds and single use sculpt work...it's just smart business... Nobody is forced to buy them....lol...I think always thought that about toy hunt vids.... If they get views more power to the ones that make them .. I couldn't do that...Good luck with the people that do watch them... Ha ha ha...👍💀
Or they could just take all the money that they spend on the repaint, packaging, and distribution of the variants and directly put it towards a new figure. Like if it's a choice between 50 figures total and 10 of them are variants or just 45 figures each a new specific character then I'm taking the 45 because I won't buy the variants anyway.
Sorry man....new steel molds cost way more than you think.... I'm sure everyone does repaints for a reason.... It's not to anger the customer....it's to pay for the molds... new figures are coming... Happy hunting...👍💀
@@bonesandthenecrozoo I know, it’s frustrating! There’s always like 1 or 2 on the way that I actually want so it’s hard to 100% give up the line. Like the new Dr. Fate figure looks great!
Well to be honest I’ve made a more recent video about how McFarlane Toys DC line has improved a lot. We seem to be getting more character variety & an emphasis on comic book figures.
The thing about varients and alternates head sculpts is if you unbox them and put them on display. You cant display both heads. So you got these spair parts laying around to get damaged or lost . So having alternative figures seems logical to protect your investments. I can display both versions of my figures in there entirety Without fear of losing parts or my dog eating my Tony Stark head that fell on the floor.
I only have two figures from this Macfarlane line of toys, Damien Robin , Thomas Wayne with mask, and I may get the Mohawk Wonder Woman if I see it in the wild I’ll get it other wise i’am not going out of my way to get it, the John Stewart is nice but I have the Neca one so I don’t need another. I’am a completionist but this shit he’s putting has cured me of being a completionist. I didn’t like or understand the story when it was in the comics why the fuvk would I want these crazy ass looking figure combinations, I just want some appropriate sized well painted decently articulated classics DC characters. They can’t get there movies right it’s not a surprise they can’t get there toys right. They had a great show Young Justice they canceled it cause no one was buying there toy’s that’s cause those toys where shit.
