    Nice build and a great idea to reinforce the nose section!

      Yep, I've got a buddy in Ireland who crashed his Dart XL and smashed up the nose...

    Nice video ! What about the Bepp foam quality, how does it compares with Epp from ARwingnor Dolphin ones ? Does it explode on impact ? Does it shed the small balls one by one on edges ? Thanks

      the ZOHD foam is quite resilient actually. it doesn't shed the balls like you say, and considering how light it is, it's pretty solid.

    A couple of crossfire questions: 1) How do you route your 4th wire required for the crossfire through your wing butt? I like the detachable wings and want to have the crossfire on the wing tip, but wondering how to get that 4th wire through the wing connection. 2) did you run into any problems with your lower crossfire antenna dragging on the ground during landing?

    • @grim-upnorth
      @grim-upnorth  3 года назад

      The 4th wire is only required if you want telemetry from the flight controller back down to the radio. I have all the information I need right there in the OSD so I don't use the 4th wire. I only ever use the voltage in, ground and TX wires.
      Yes the lower half of the antenna scrapes on the ground on landing so I added a little portion of heatshrink to it as a sort of sacrificial outer layer to be scraped off on landings.
      👍🏻

    Hello! Please throw off the Foxeer antenna mount, thx)

      Hello, thanks for the comment. The foxeer antenna mount is literally just a small thin disk that I printed. the internal hole is sized for the SMA antenna fixing that comes with the VTX. The SMA antenna fixing is designed to be panel mounted, as in, fit through a hole in a piece of equipment and then have the washer and nut screwed down to secure it. By attaching this disk to the SMA like this, it enables me to then poke a hole through the foam wing for the antenna cable, then simply glue the printed disk to the wing, allowing it to stay securely in place and not wobble around in the foam.
      You could easily make this from a gift card, or other piece of rigid plastic, just put a hole through for the SMA to fit through and screw down the nut that comes with it. Good luck.

      @@grim-upnorth foam doesn't melt with hot glue ? Just bought the dart xl extreme and I have to be sure 😁

    • @grim-upnorth
      @grim-upnorth  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@mode2fpv yes the foam does melt a little with the hot glue, but that's what makes such a strong bond. Apply the bead of hot glue to the foam and pushed the rods into it. If you put the hotglue on the rod, it will cool down too quickly and just go hard on the rod before you get it against the foam.
      If you're worried about melting too much foam, you can use E6000 glue.
