    At 11:00 regarding Forbidden Palace. Usually you have to build Forbidden not too far from Palace or corruption means a long build time unless you can rush it or use a leader.
    When Palace and Forbidden are close to one another, some people recommend rebuilding the Palace far off in an area of corrupt cities in order to get a new clump of productive cities usually by using a leader. Are you a fan of this?
    This can be useful if you already control a continent and are preparing to invade an enemy on another continent (or on the opposite side of a huge pangea). Allows you to build units locally in productive cities (especially ships and artillary which can't use airports) instead of having to transport them over long distances of water.

    • @jonshive5482
      @jonshive5482 Год назад +4

      Forbidden Palace in Conquests is a pale shadow compared to Vanilla. You could set up a second Ring with it 'cuz it dramatically decreased Corruption in nearby Cities along with the City where it was built. A Palace jump would probably not be cost-effective in the expansion.

    • @munsters2

      Back in vanilla building the forbidden city in one of the cities next to the capital was very common and then if you conquered some really nice cities far away that were super corrupt you'd pump one city up to the gills to get the palace rebuilt there and basically have two cores for your empire. The rules for chopping, using commanders and generally rushing production were totally different though.

    I'd love to see something on how anti-air works, it's the one mechanic that I never understood or found good info about it

    • @crashcoursefilms
      @crashcoursefilms Год назад +18

      Flaks and Mobile SAMs - whenever a bomber attacks a tile one of those units is on directly, the Flak/SAM has a chance of A/(A + 10D) of shooting it down straight up, where A is the anti-air strength of the flak/SAM, and D is the bomber’s defense value. Same formula applies to the SAM battery improvement if a bomber directly bombards your city. You can put up to 4 flaks/SAMs on a single tile to maximize shoot-down chance, more than that and additional flaks/SAMs will not attempt to shoot down the bomber that turn.
      Fighters/Other air units with “air superiority mission” ability - When a bomber bombards ANYWHERE in the operational range of your fighter while they’re conducting “air superiority mission”, the fighter has a chance to intercept the bomber (50% by default in regular Civ, 5% chance if trying to intercept a stealth unit bombarding). IF you successfully intercept the bomber, then the fighter and the bomber engage in normal combat, with the fighter’s attack value combatting against the bombers defense value.
      Hope that helps :-)

    • @guilhermedahrug2821
      @guilhermedahrug2821 Год назад +4

      @@crashcoursefilms Thanks a lot, that was very helpful.
      I believe fighters can only intercept once per turn, is that right? If I have two fighters, would that still be a 50% chance or a 75% chance?
      Can flaks/SAMs intercept multiple times per turn or only once?

    • @hetzer5926
      @hetzer5926 Год назад +3

      There’s a chance that any AA units will be able to do damage, there’s a chance that any fighters will intercept, the chances of an intercept decrease drastically if the aircraft is stealth, the chances of an intercept increases if there’s a radar tower near the city.
      For maximum chance for your units to intercept and to shoot down the enemy aircraft have both fighters, AA units, and at least one radar tower next to the city.

    I think explaining citizen moods would be a nice video topic. For example when you convinced me to start considering Republic I first figured war weariness is a non-issue. Even on low difficulties citizens overwhelmingly spawn as unhappy so I thought what is a few more unhappy citizens per city, which I considered to be the maximum. Making 20 unhappy citizens happy/content should be easy right? You can't be double unhappy can you?
    Well turns out you very much can be double unhappy, and triple unhappy probably. :D
    In short each citizen can contribute more than one unhappy face, or perhaps the weariness faces come "outside" of normal unhappiness rather. And despite having a lot of lux and happiness buildings (go go Sistine Chapel, very underrated wonder) you can get dinged by war weariness.

    • @Thunk00
      @Thunk00 Год назад +2

      If a civilization is significantly more powerful than yours, as is usually the case with your rivals on high difficulties, they will send their soldiers to prance around your land and make demands. Refuse their demands or give them an ultimatum to expel their troops from your territory, and it's very likely that they'll declare war on you. It's pretty easy to abuse, you get the diplomatic and war weariness benefits of being the victim, and the only real downside is that you can't necessarily choose the timing of the war.
      If your army stands a fair chance of winning in a straightforward, head-to-head fight, though, AI civs are a lot more circumspect, and they're more hesitant about attacking you when you refuse a demand or tell them to get out of your land. It still works sometimes, but typically you need to start your own wars when you're not punching up.
      You can also use mutual protection pacts to get an AI civ to declare war on you. There's no point in doing so, though, as you'll suffer the global diplomatic penalty of declaring war either way and you get the exact same negative war weariness no matter whether it's the one pact member that declared war on you or the other.
