Hey man, you have made an increadible video and you are really good at teaching. I'm glad you made it simple showing just the basic steps. Making it simple lets people pick up their own flow and feel for the music. The song by the way is Jazz Potato by Mr. Scruff who is amazing.
Idk if ian get this a lot or not but he has is a good teacher listening to him explaining his lore made me think like that but coming to watch his old dancing toturials just proved me i was so right about him
ur probably talkin about the lil hop that comes in, as for that, it should come gradually with the amount of practice u put into it once i started getting comfortable with it, i got confident with it and so i do it with alot of emphasis
This is quality toprock material. I loved watching battles during recess when I was a little kid in the early 80's. Glad to see breakdancing is still alive and well. The b-boy in these vids probably gets lots of ladies.
Had I known about part 2, 4 days ago xD I learnt most of your moves from part 1 by constantly skip back and forth in that video. Now just learning how to flow etc. Your tutorials are awesome.
Thakns bro! It'd really helpful :) I hope to put a video after learning all of this showing my advance :D. Also, a question. what kind of music do you use for it? Thanks again for the video :)
First, you've got a really cool, unique name. Sending you much respect for your passion. Thanks for the tutorials - am getting great ideas that may work for me. Looking forward to more. Be well~
thanks so much bro! i already tried to figure out how the steps work by watching part one (the guide) over and over again but this one helps so much! thanks again, bro - can´t wait for the next part :) best greetings and wishes from asutria
haha, Barom, you`ll have to make ``Byu`s Toprock Fundamentals`` one day. :D Seriously. I haven`t seen nobody of your age who could teach so well. Mad props from b-boys and b-girls in Latvia ;D
@YhkTKD Is it wrong to want to get down his style? Its very inspiring and i feel i would enjoy his style more than some others ive seen. People always say you make it your own but does that mean i "shouldnt" use his style as a basis?
Dude, yo're a SICK dancer. I've been studying this vid for a few weeks, and I can do most of the moves, but I'm still having trouble with the kick steps. IT just doesn't look as smoth as you do. I'm still practicing tho, thanks for the wesome tutorial dude!
@ChingooOK I see. another question: when you practice bboying, do you practice the steps one by one, or do you create a set routine and practice them that way? I feel like when I try to make my own full routine, it's messy and I'm hesitating a lot in deciding what to do next, so do people make routines, or do they just improvise as they go?
pretty good man. i really enjoyed the video, i found everything useful (tho the hip twist confused me abit.) but ya, i really like the song btw, any chance i can get the name? (both intro and for tutorial please)
This video is impressingly helpful. I like how u were on rythem cause most people just have background music goin on n it sounds dumb but I'm really impressed. Hopefully I can get some of these steps n I'll send you a vid dude.
lol 0:17-0:21 looks like DDR before the song starts. but in all seriousness yo this tutorial is great, you make everything look great and well explained. i enjoyed it. thanks for this man. helps
To the smooth look, what you have to do is to repeat again and again and again, like one thousand times if it is needed and also, look how does he do exactly because the way he explained how to do, and the way he does before the explanation has variations. It's very important to use a lot your knees in the kick step.
Thank you so much! This really helped with variation in my toprock. I actually learned everything from watching your "guide" because I didn't see this tutorial before haha, but this helped with my arm motions.
ah yes thats natural to do that Exactly what happened to me when i first did it umm yeah i shoulda mentioned your body tends to move forward so try goin slowly at it and then you will eventually stay in the same spot its natural
@zalo05 it takes practice. repeat them over and over until you get that flow that you want. this tutorial is significantly better than most other ones.
not sure if it'll help everyone, but what I did when I learned this step was I learned it backwards because when you do that it's kinda like skipping the first one and doing straight to the 2nd what I mean by backwards is like start with twisting your hip and then go back the direction you came and sorta turn your lower leg in a small half-circle near the end and repeat
i do like the way you do it im a great fan of smooth toprocking and other floorwork loos so natural, i hope i pay attention, practice and get it right really wanna just bust it out ina lazy club somewherz. im in uk.
about the kick-step as i do it i feel like i'm doin it in a sloppy fashion. Is it me or every beginners feel like that. And do i have to kick out my leg in the first step completely
took me 4days to get down the The Kick Step....I just need a small bit of cleaning for it..time to Learn the Hiptwist..gosh the kick step feels so damn fun
just practice man. get your body used to it. you basically need to train your body to do these steps. i was having trouble with it too till i just kept practicing. now i can get the 2nd kick. and im starting to be able to do a lot more. breaking is a lot a lot a lot a lot a lot of practice. so keep practicing bro. good luck.
how come when I do the kick step, my body keeps moving forward?; I have to kick out and place the foot in front of the other, and my body basically ends up going forward
@XxAkiraXX its alright he makes it look great and explains well but all experts were once amateurs I just got the groove of toprocking today after weeks of watching and practicing this over and over again
after dabins documentary it’s so intriguing seeing their digital footprint
you wont just be good, you will be awesome at it
passion it up ^__^
Barom, you are such a genius!!!
宝宝你好棒🥹❤️🔥
I wanna learn the choreo you did with Dabin on Playlist. The footwork is dope, pretty mesmerising 🤩😻
呜呜呜呜宝宝
THE best Toprock tutorial out there. He makes it look so easy....
This is insane!! I have NEVER seen a toprocking tutorial as detailed and helpful as this one. Props to you, man!
Used to watch his top rock tutorials back then, and now i just realised this is DPR Ian 😂
Actually crazy
same here. Cant believe that my first toprock tutor was DPR Ian.
Whoever sees this, here are the two songs he uses for this video:

Keep this as a top comment so people will know!
I am not a very strong person. Your emphasis of style over power is a huge inspiration to myself as an aspiring bboy!!
0:27 The Kick Step 1:18 Hand movements
1:50 Hip Twists
4:58 The Shuffle Variation 6:18 Hand movements
yes, your right
esp in this case the beat is moderate,so den people will tend to rush it, and it can b hard to do,
so tip,is try hopping into it ^__^

he has earned it to act cool, people who can't do shit and act cool aren't allowed to be cool.
This is quality toprock material. I loved watching battles during recess when I was a little kid in the early 80's. Glad to see breakdancing is still alive and well. The b-boy in these vids probably gets lots of ladies.
Damn, such good music. Makes the top rock just flow right outta a nigga.
Had I known about part 2, 4 days ago xD I learnt most of your moves from part 1 by constantly skip back and forth in that video. Now just learning how to flow etc. Your tutorials are awesome.
I'm glad you're not some lame instructor shouting out instructions like I'm 5 and stupid.
you break it down well.
good job
Thakns bro! It'd really helpful :)
I hope to put a video after learning all of this showing my advance :D.
Also, a question. what kind of music do you use for it?
Thanks again for the video :)
dude nice! this is by FAR the best tutorial i've seen for breakdancing.
First, you've got a really cool, unique name. Sending you much respect for your passion. Thanks for the tutorials - am getting great ideas that may work for me. Looking forward to more. Be well~

best greetings and wishes from asutria
after just 10 mins of watching this... i pull out flying steps - we gonna rock it and start practicing to it.... feels epic man
haha, Barom, you`ll have to make ``Byu`s Toprock Fundamentals`` one day. :D Seriously. I haven`t seen nobody of your age who could teach so well. Mad props from b-boys and b-girls in Latvia ;D
Very great tutorial bro. (: I love how your toprocking is so smooth...thanks for the great tutorial again!
Actually very similar to charlie rock,
however i shorten mine, by taking out one step, so its jus out,in,back,in,out
but yeah its similar
@YhkTKD Is it wrong to want to get down his style? Its very inspiring and i feel i would enjoy his style more than some others ive seen. People always say you make it your own but does that mean i "shouldnt" use his style as a basis?
dude you ficken rule!
nice tutorial man. I like how you broke it down to simple steps.
By the way, what songs did you play on this vid?
Dude, yo're a SICK dancer. I've been studying this vid for a few weeks, and I can do most of the moves, but I'm still having trouble with the kick steps. IT just doesn't look as smoth as you do. I'm still practicing tho, thanks for the wesome tutorial dude!

I have to learn this , always wanted to break dance .....top rocking is the ultimate , nothing looks better in dance
i love your hip twists. they are sooo clean
The kick step in the beginning adds a kick with the 'step-in' foot at "Step 3", which gives your kick-step a lot of style.
pretty good man.
i really enjoyed the video, i found everything useful
(tho the hip twist confused me abit.)
but ya, i really like the song btw, any chance i can get the name?
(both intro and for tutorial please)
hey i am a b-girl from berlin, thanx for helping me so much with your videos.you have such a great flow!!
This video is impressingly helpful. I like how u were on rythem cause most people just have background music goin on n it sounds dumb but I'm really impressed. Hopefully I can get some of these steps n I'll send you a vid dude.
This guy can win battles just toprocking. Nice job man quick question but how long have you been breaking?

rofl dayum bro u see 44 people thumbs uppin this comment
haha good tip~!
Great video. I really appreciate your simplicity in this. No babble. Just dance
It took me almost an hour to learn exactly how he does the 3 step at the very beginning. Thank goodness for the space bar XD. Now to clean it up...
To the smooth look, what you have to do is to repeat again and again and again, like one thousand times if it is needed and also, look how does he do exactly because the way he explained how to do, and the way he does before the explanation has variations. Thank you so much! This really helped with variation in my toprock. I actually learned everything from watching your "guide" because I didn't see this tutorial before haha, but this helped with my arm motions.
thx man, i can watch this vid a zilion times, just becouse i like ur style so much.
this helped me a lot!
Finally, man, thanks so much. Even just watching part 1 helped my tops so much. Keep it styling!
Damn I learned to toprock because of this vid. Watching it now makes me remember how hard I worked to master this.
You have a natural talent for bboying & it shows. You make me sick. (That was a compliment btw LOL) Great teacher too. Real talk.
ah yes thats natural to do that
Exactly what happened to me when i first did it
umm yeah i shoulda mentioned your body tends to move forward
so try goin slowly at it
and then you will eventually stay in the same spot
its natural
the best teacher in the world, thanks from the far south!
i hate how everyone critizies everyone for learning on youtube...
they would too if they saw how dope this vid is
@zalo05 it takes practice. repeat them over and over until you get that flow that you want. this tutorial is significantly better than most other ones.
do you have any videos of you in a battle or something, by the way what crew do u rep?
hey man! really appreciate the lessons, but do you have a tutorial for the battle toprock? thanks
It all started here. My love for this dance! :) 10 years later and im still bustin a move!
Thanks for the tutorial bro, you make it easy for me to learn how to do top rock, God bless you
Because he is, he toprocks with style, style beats everything when it comes to battling.
not sure if it'll help everyone, but what I did when I learned this step was I learned it backwards because when you do that it's kinda like skipping the first one and doing straight to the 2nd
what I mean by backwards is like start with twisting your hip and then go back the direction you came and sorta turn your lower leg in a small half-circle near the end and repeat
Whats the name of the song where he explains the shuffle variation?? O.o god dang it I cant find it anywhere!
Got the Hip Twist in 2 days! Had to repeat the motion VERY slow for about 30 min then it just came natural. Wouldn't it be indian step with kick?
Lol how can these people dislike the video :O
i think its good tutorail ,, good work bro
respect From INDIA
What's the second song? Is it a remix of Whos' The Man (With the Master Plan) or a mashup??
Bboy B.yu you are the best teacher! Respect bro!
I used to be an eboy(someone who only watches bboy, not do it) until i found this. Thanks byu!
@Senbonzakura1698 The song's are "Jazz Potato" by Mr. Scruff and "Theme from full time Playboy"
in how much time (approx) can i learn all the steps. if i practice 2 hours a day? please reply
B.yu u r 1 of d best i hav ever seen
Trying the kick step and the hip twist... I know the moves, yet I look stupid when I do them. Practice makes perfect? Or am I doing something wrong?
@DeymxXBass try staying with the beat? Add more hand movements? Just some ideas.
what's the last tune ? beat is so fresh
Seems like a remix of kay gees masterplan but still i can't find the rite one
i do like the way you do it im a great fan of smooth toprocking and other floorwork loos so natural, i hope i pay attention, practice and get it right really wanna just bust it out ina lazy club somewherz. im in uk.
You have a very good level and thank you sharing your knowledge to all the bboys and bgirls.
@DenDen114 not rly
when ppl say breakin is hard, theyre usually talkin bout the power moves
IAN.. 당신 .. 열심히 살았구나
how much time it will take to learn HipTwist...
I do with one foot with flow but when i have to shift to left foot i cant do it.. and flow breaks!!
What's the name of that intro song that's on for a few seconds at the start?
about the kick-step as i do it i feel like i'm doin it in a sloppy fashion. Is it me or every beginners feel like that.
And do i have to kick out my leg in the first step completely
do you have any breakdance tutorials?
whats the song right at the beginning. sounds like it would be dope
We use the same steps in charleston but the styling makes it look different, cool!
Wow this guy is the one who started me off in Bboying xP Now I know his steps I enjoy doing the toprock with him :) while playing the video
B-yu your awesome dude. Been admiring your work. You inspired me. Thx.
every time i do the shuffles my leg i kick out always seem to have the knee bend when i move my leg back and forth
so when is second half of this coming out ive been waiting so long and byu teachs so good so yea
wats the difference between hip twist and indian step?? or is it the same with different names??
Great! Good stuff. The last one is from old '20's style Charleston.
The Dude like to twist his hips :D
cuz dem hips dont lie
i remember watching this guys videos SOOOOO long ago wow. awesome man!
What's the name of the last track from 4:40 on? Starts with "who's the man with the master plan?"

Thank you very much, I'm trying to put some of the bboy moves to my routine and your video helps me a lot!
i like his style and footwork. so smooth
just practice man. get your body used to it. you basically need to train your body to do these steps. i was having trouble with it too till i just kept practicing. now i can get the 2nd kick. and im starting to be able to do a lot more. breaking is a lot a lot a lot a lot a lot of practice. so keep practicing bro. good luck.
