Just to clarify to who didn't notice, approximately halfway through the video there's an cut which takes the blue rope that was behind the yellow rope, and "teleports" it to the front. What he did is not actually possible in a real scenario, though sadly I need to research more on Knot Theory to give more details and a better explanation on why that is. But just try to visualise what he's doing. You need the rope to be free enough to go above the hand and back, but with it still being on the wrong side of the yellow rope it is not possible to untie yourself Edit: wow, I didn't know it was possible! It is possible in the way that they're showing. Just pause the video at the beginning and visualise for a moment. You're slipping the blue rope around your hand like you would if the yellow rope wasn't there, with the added step of slipping it past the yellow rope like you would if your hand wasn't there. It's not a perfect loop because of the connection points, you can do it! Try it at home if you don't believe it.

For those who don’t know what a friction saw is, basically take a rope preferably a strong one pull it tightly and move it back-and-forth, The friction created by the motion of the rope can cut through small logs or in this case the other rope, and if the one around your hands snaps first then bonus your hands aren’t tied up no more, it’s a lot easier than memorizing this odd maneuver. Hello. Someone who understands topology here. This is essentially equivalent to a rope within two circles connected by a line, each circle has a rod through it. What they’re essentially doing is removing the rods and passing the rope through the space between the rods and the circles.
It's extremely simple. You can't move the yellow rope past your hands, but you can work the blue rope around either one with this never gonna happen scenario

I did this exact same method when I was abducted back in 1995. I was 17 years old and I went in vacation with my friend’s family. Me being who I am I wondered off when I was told not to. I know the internet has made us jaded for exactly this kind of video but there is a reason the ropes are tied in this ridiculous way.
Just try it, grab some old PC wires if you have to, it literally only works cause he is tied to a flexible rope and not a rigid pole.
Otherwise you couldn't feed through the loop.
Easy to test yourself and see that it works

This would've saved me from having to undo the knots the other day. It is true, the average person ends up with their hands tied to a slack rope that's tied to a random pole, at least once a week. This is a very important skill to have.

simply untie the knots in the blue string, your not bound behind your back, still its not that hard to untie knots, thats why we use handcuffs now. or use friction to burn the ropes apart.
