And are there any studies that would also verify how collagen production can be boosted not by eating collagen, but by supplying the ingredients needed by collagen? When I eat animal collagen, the body breaks it down and then folds it again, while it probably doesn't use all the components of the animal collagen, and the body then has to process or excrete them. When I add to the body:
    1.Amino Acids:
    Glycine
    Proline
Hydroxyproline (produced from proline in the body),
    2. Vitamins and Minerals:
Vitamin C: Essential for the synthesis and stabilization of collagen,
Zinc: Plays a role in collagen synthesis and skin repair,
    3. Other Important Nutrients:
Copper: Necessary for the formation of collagen fibers,
Sulfur: Found in foods like garlic and onions, it helps in collagen synthesis,
Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Found in flaxseeds, chia seeds, and fish, they help maintain skin's moisture and elasticity,
This way he will be able to produce collagen himself. And maybe that's why collagen can break down. Because it lacks some ingredients or they are not in sufficient quantities. And maybe then not all ingredients would have to be replenished, but only those that are not in sufficient quantities.

Dr Li, Thank you for this informative video! I really appreciate the detailed explanation of collagen’s benefits beyond just improving skin, including its positive effects on eyes and blood vessels. The segment on making bone broth was particularly insightful. I value the emphasis on its holistic health benefits and the idea of incorporating such nutritious practices into our routines. I can make enough bone broth to last a week. Going to do it this weekend instead of sitting on my ass watching TV. It’s great to have options and insights on how to enhance our well-being. Thanks so much for all the time and effort you put into creating these videos which are so helpful. Interestingly, an ad played in the middle of your video about a cream produced by a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon that promotes the production of collagen. The cream was said to include hydrolyzed collagen, Vitamins A and B, maximum potency hyaluronic acid and saw palmetto which they said is an ingredient that inhibits DHT which apparently harms collagen production. I'm just wondering if saw palmetto is something that can be beneficial--and if so, what would be the best way to include it in the diet.

So now this makes sense. I actually bought beef gelatin in powder form a while ago but haven't really taken it religiously. I suffer from Psoriatic arthritis and lots joint pain plus osteoarthritis so I'm going to be adding it into liquids like coffee etc.

While I agree with you almost always the tip on cooking skate by heating EVO to a high heat is wrong IMO. EVO looses all the beneficial qualities being heated to a high degree and one might be better served using avocado oil which can tolerate high heat better. Just a little something I learned after cooking with EVO for years and if you must use EVO use the lower cost variety, i.e. Costco brands as you will otherwise be wasting your money. Cheers!

There is a dispute regarding the autoimmune label. Other experts say these problems such as Rh. Arthritis, say it is due to certain viruses, and that our bodies can heal themselves. Our bodies do not attack ourselves. We can use some foods and not others, and some supplements, to heal ourselves. We can heal.❤

    • @maryellenclark1180
      @maryellenclark1180 14 дней назад

I am not a health care provider, but……Most, if not all auto-immune diseases are “causes” by having at least two of the following: inherited risk factors (one of many genes, environmental risk factors, and a certain virus which is the catalyst. People with auto-immune diseases have a higher risk of having other family members with the same or different auto-immune disease but as far as I know, they are not “genetic”. For example, if you grew up as a child in a State or Country in a cold climate, you have a greater risk of getting MS probably because you had lower levels of vitamin D during childhood. Obesity in childhood increases the risk of MS and so does having one of many genes identified as risk factors.. That does not mean people who grew up in Florida do not get MS. It just means statistically, the chances are lower, all other things being equal. MS is also caused by the Epstein Barr virus. (90% of adults have been infected with the Epstein Barr virus by adulthood but 100% of MS patients have EB virus antibodies. The virus itself does not cause the damage directly. It inadvertently launches the immune system to attack healthy tissue in the central nervous system. You can probably minimize the nasty side effects of some autoimmune disease by not smoking, eating healthy, exercising, etc. However, there are no “cures” for autoimmune diseases. HSCT can sometimes put very aggressive MS into remission but it is still not approved in the US because it is very dangerous and still considered experimental.

One can buy bulk Gelatin from a bulk store and it has about 25% collagen - Beef is best in my opinion for joints - Kinda all purpose. And there are Advanced Collagen or just called Collagen Hydrolyzed Peptides typically labeled as Type 1, 2 and 3 which are pure as can be. Buy these at a quality health food store. Many come labeled as Grass fed and or Organic. The Organic are much more expensive. These Peptides work(to a degree) as they help/not a cure. Expect at least 3 - 6 months for them to work as stated on the labels. These peptides 1,2 and 3 sure seem to work for me although for some reason I have not been consistent in taking them ongoing-Bad me. I trust you are looking for the joints - although also good for skin etc.

I have noticed though that southern Europeans actually age pretty well in comparison to other Europeans and I do believe this is because of their long history with the Middle East as well as their healthier lifestyle. I’ve also noticed Western Europeans tend to age the worst and quickest, could be because of their excessive drinking and lack of exercise and community.

M aking bone broth can seem time-consuming, but the doctor’s video was packed with valuable information on the broader health benefits of collagen, which many people find useful. It’s also important to recognize that some individuals might appreciate the process and the additional health benefits that come from preparing bone broth themselves. For those who prefer a more convenient option, collagen supplements are indeed a great alternative. Everyone’s lifestyle and priorities are different, so it’s good to offer a range of options without dismissing any approach.

Your comment focuses heavily on criticizing the practical aspects of making bone broth rather than appreciating the overall value of the information shared. It comes off as overly critical or disrespectful. This kind of comment might overshadow the positive aspects of the video and might seem dismissive of the effort involved in both the content and the recommended practices.
Many people prefer to make bone broth rather sitting on their asses watching football and eating chips

If you're cooking your meat by poaching, you're making broth at the same time. Poaching meat keeps the process at lower temperature than grilling or baking , thereby reducing the amount of advanced glycogen end products that you're consuming. It's a win-win

I’m WFPB. I don’t normally eat meat. I used to make bone broth from the bones you buy for dogs in the store. Is that ok? I wouldn’t be adding any other meat to it. I Usually leave the vegetables in the broth and use my blender once the bones are out.I also use 2kinds of collagen a powder one and bio collagen. My skin on my hand and neck is barely wrinkled as well as my face. I’m 71.

What a waste of time. All you talk about is animal products. You should have given other options too. 😢
