Lorewatch: Symmetra - Overwatch Lore & Speculation

- Born into chaos and poverty the young Satya Vaswani lived her early life in the slums of Hyderabad, India. As her country began to rebuild they turned to the hard light architects from Viskar Corporation to lead the way. With the ability to wield hard light effectively extremely rare when Satya was identified and chosen it marked the changing of her life forever.
Becoming one of the best architechs in the world in short order, as Overwatch fell and the ambitions of Vishkar grew Satya began to take on a new role. Given the name of Symmetra she was trained in covert ops and sent in secret to undermine Vishkar's enemies and ensure their brand of order was the one imposed upon the world.
Symmetra has her own sense of justice however and will not kill for the sake of it - unlike her employer. As the possible return of Overwatch nears, will she hold true to Vishkar, or will the temptation to be part of something greater be enough to bring her to the side of good?

Uatopea (the city symmetra helped build) should be a map! Hardlight construct everywere :D
Would be a fantastic map. Could reshape itself on the fly maybe? Walkways there one minute, gone the next. Would be difficult to balance maybe, but fun!

I don't think Symmatra's a villan. She's just doing her job and doesn't realize what her bosses are doing.
I think she would consider Overwatch to be chaos, they would be an other disruptive element in the world, the more you have the greater the chaos.
I just thought she was just a tech support person at the wrong place

Most of the characters on Overwatch are on the good side already and it's boring as hell. We need more bad guys.

Symmetra just a brain washed tool of the Viskar Corporation. I think down the line she gonna break free and either join overwatch or go solo and try to undo all the fucked up stuff Viskar did

Vishkar has done a LOT of good.
Specifically, they have brought order to a lot of chaos.
Symmetra values Order over most things.
Sometimes that includes ethical or moral obligations like confessing to her company masters crimes.
As long as she can promote order, she might be convinced to do a lot of wrong.
THAT is a good villain.
I really hope they don't shit it up by giving her some random crisis of conscience for no good reason. That's boring.
Even when she's beginning to have doubts at the end of her comic she still believes completely in the purpose of Vishkar. Not sure what would need to happen for a crisis of conscience to occur if that didn't trigger one.
As for Vishkar, no doubt they have done a lot of good, but it seems the more they've done & the bigger they've gotten the more ambitious and arrogant they've become. The way they work now seems almost dictatorial - you WILL be helped by them, you have no say in the matter.
LowManaGamers I think at this point, the way to make her turn was if it turned out an omnium was secretly in charge, and Vishkar was some kind of...second-gen omnic front. Straight up warfare didn't work. This would be another way to create pure order (a very mechanical desire).

I have a theory that symmetra was a test subject of aperture laboratories and then escaped the company broke. And she moved to vishkar and used stolen schismatics of aperture’s tech and made created her gun and that stuff.
But that’s a stupid theory hehe oh well.

Vishkar definitely experimented on her. I think she went along with it as her thought process is the greater good and in the long run 1 ruler is better than hundreds fighting it out

Because their characters are so deep and interesting, they could get so much money from people who are desperate to find out about them

It makes me think. Why does Symmetra build these awful tiny turrets with 1HP and not giant miniguns and attack choppers. It's beyond me.

i suspect that symetra would stay neutral and not really pick any side. in war there are never 2 sides, theres the civilians in between and profiteers seeking opportunities. although due to overwatches vision i would think that she would side with them first but despite their intentions they'll fuel whatever war as much as the other guys.
no i think symetra will go freelance instead. her forte is construction. she will go to civilians first and foremost

Symetra is obsessive compulsive, and for all appearances, a slave to her employer. someone's going to have to save her from herself. I'm betting on genji/zennyatta. . both are in harmony with themselves, and would understand her inner turmoil.
i'm kinda sad because you didn't bring up the fact that Lucio's gun is stolen tech from Vishkar. i assume you'll cover it in the future though, keep up the vids!

symmetra is a portal gun easter egg
So... I'm just a tiny bit confused. What is hard light? Does it need a constant energy sources to stay in solid form? What if a poor city has a blackout? Does the building glitch away and get destroyed? I know I'm looking way too much into this but it just confuses me. Also is the Vishkar corporation evil and planning world domination? Or is it just greedy and corrupt?
I think the light construct permanently transitions into a physical being. In a way, it kind of reminds me of 3D-printing: you basically turn digital images into a reality, but with light in this case.

he was the only Bastion unit (mass produced combat mech) to not been scraped due to showing that he runs on a sole purpose to learn and not destroy. That's pretty much his entire story
+The Dark Swaggerhood if he had been made to learn not destroy why would he be fighting if they see him as a big threat and he seems broken down and the overgrown skin seems like he had been broken down and hadn't reactivated in a while and had been activated most likely lead in to him killing the person who reactivated him so he repaired himself but how should I know
If you look at the omnic crisis "skin", its actually a different "Bastion/Omnic". However its odd that the legendary and rare Bastion "skins" have birds. This is odd mainly because they are not Bastion. Just another omnic.-Dylan Blythe

I believe - need citation - that from the recent lore panel with Michael Chu it was stated it's a prosthetic of sorts. Surprised me tbh.

there's a lot of 'prosthetic speculation' in Overwatch. I tend to assume limbs aren't prosthetic unless obviously so (Junkrat, McCree etc) or specifically stated in lore
It's just a sleeve. Her Vishkar skin even shows her fingers.

+Macaroni tastes like regurgitated worms from talking to Blizz it seems much more likely it's a cybernetic glove. Lot of debate over various limbs on OW characters though so can't be certain
I believe it is a hard light producer glove...I believe it is because, first, one of her spray show her left palm named " glove " . second " Symmetra Vishkar uniform shows that at the tip of her finger are uncovered and showed her real skin and white nails, which mean she wear a uniform glove as a daily businesswoman and a mechanical white glove as a secret agent. Third, everyone wear this glove at Vishkar ( I believe, cuz Sanjay have it)...I don't think anyone is stupid enough to work for a corporation at a price of a left arm
