I think one of many mistakes of respawn about tap-strafing is that they didn't patch it earlier when it was less used by players. If they're gonna make a reason that it's inaccessible for controllers, they should've patched it the moment it got discovered. Respawn has a habit of trying to douse a fire when it's too big rather than preventing a fire in the first place.
This is correct, pretty sure they patched the bunny-hop healing immediately because "That was not how it's intended to work" They left Tap-strafing in the game for too long it basically became the part of the skillset for the top players
Bro im a controller player and we CAN tap strafe. And same with bhop, we can and always were able to do that. They just make this excuse for some casual andys who play one time a week. All u need to do is change some binds and do some practice and u can do almost all the movement tech that mnk players do.
That's cuz people used to tap straffe with the keys and not scroll wheel until a few seasons ago. I still think they shouldn't have removed these unique movement mechanics, thats what separated the casuals and a highly skilled player, and movement is what separated apex from other games, they're slowly killing their own game by removing unique movement mechanics. Infinite Zip jumps was the most unnecessary patch and it wasn't even op like tap straffe yet they removed, and now tap straffing, yes I get it it's kinda op that u can reposition mid air with thout losing momentum, but that's what makes the game fun, otherwise its just as boring as wz, just running and gunning
I have the same thing omg con i dont hit every shot like evryone says we do. But that is the only thing pc players say arm assist this arm assist that but they still have way more thing we dont. That's basically it, really. Questionable priorities or taking the easy way out instead of developing the controller to include tap strafing too or make it easier for them consoles.

Taxi's dread and pain feels like KennyS' AWP nerf. EDIT: Woah 1.3k 👍🏽. Thanks guys. For the young uns, the CS:GO AWP nerf occured in March 2015 when they nerfed the acceleration and movement speed of the AWP when scoped. This significantly changed how the gun was played up to the elite professional level. This undid years of muscle memory for KennyS and shattered his confidence as a pro player. KennyS took a while to get his stride back. I find the pain and despair similar to what I see in Taxi et al. Nevertheless, the pros did what pros are good at: adapting.

Thats what I have always thought, the problem is when you fight good controller players that can aim as if they were on MnK, we have to deal with it, us who play in pred lobbies.

Nope, tap strafing needs to be removed, mostly because of => Octane. His jump pad can be abused in ways that were not intended in this game if you use tap strafe. You can, for example, stay in the same jump pad forever if you're turning 180 degrees with tap strafing. I've been learning advanced movement techniques on controller like superglides, superjumping, etc, and to know that so many parts of the movement in the game are being removed, is pretty RIP because on controller it is way harder to learn movement.
I don't think people are necessarily mad because of tap strafe being gone, but rather the lack of movement mechanics. What they should do is learn from the community response and put in more movement mechanics that are "accessible to all."

So I just started playing at the end of s9 and play on Xbox. *I would rather have tap strafing be available to us than be removed.* I do find an issue with all of them acting like aim assist on controller gives brand new player pred aim, ive played every major fps since cod4 and imo apex has the LEAST amount of aim assist in any of those games, maybe it’s the jitter aim but i even checked the settings at one point because I thought I somehow turned it off, if they removed or even nerfed aim assist it wouldn’t be viable for most casual console players, You cant nerf aim assist for all consoles because 5 pros don’t need it, that being said once again I would rather they make it a game mech available to everyone than remove it.
Aim assist on pc with a controller is actually disgusting. You have 240 hz, and basically every advantage pc has with aim assist. The only reason console gets it, is cause theres a huge advantage on pc. They should honestly remove it from PC.
I think you missed his point. Aim on M&K takes hundreds, thousands of hours to be refined. But the rolla aim assist makes the learning curve way easier, and helps very high level players - and the way it's implemented in the game, it favors controller players. In opposition, tapstrafing is a mechanic that's hard to use properly, that doesn't give any fighting advantage, and that only allows redirecting movement. You lose fights because players are better and also added tapstrafing to their skills, not because they're tapstrafing. It's insane to address tapstrafing and moving the game towards a very static gameplay when the game still has no audio half the time, there's a mechanic in game that's impossible to use for m&k that makes some weapons very much broken to controller, and so many more issues with the game. I spent a thousand hours learning how to aim, where a controller player spent two hundred, and now the couple things I could do - that killed me more than saved me - are taken away. I'd rather play a balanced shooting game like Valorant or CS if that's what Apex is becoming, because the actual fun of the game and what set it apart all other shooters was the fluidity. And pretty much everything that allowed movement is being torn apart season after season, and now even things that don't give any advantage (like bunny hop healing did) are being removed. Even then, your argument does not really hold any ground, because there's about 5 people in the world that use tapstrafing to a level where it wins them fight and even then, it's mostly highlights in pubs. In no way does that warrant removing the mechanic from the game, the point is that the actual mechanic itself has an extremely low impact compared to something like aim assist advantage. Genburten one clips literal cheaters; Taxi2G enters a door on the 2nd floor instead of falling on the first floor. And those are the top performers with each mechanic. The two don't compare, and controller players calling for tapstrafe removal because it somehow gave M&K an "advantage" is just ridiculous.
@@Dekharen Couldn't agree more. I've spend thousands of hours playing FPS games, and thousands of more aim training. I've been high ranked in various games. I don't believe they should allow PC players to use Controller. I'm not saying remove the feature. Some console players need it. But Not PC Players. They do not need it. They have other options, and they could still use it without aim assist. And the game would be far better. We all saw how fortnite went. It was a mess.

@Cobalt Nitrate I meant that kind of comments are not what i like to see. You Just cant come in the comments and call someone bot. Most of the people calling others bot are the Ones that I enjoy more shitting on. And yes i played Titanfall a bit, i play Quake too and others AFPS that are way fast paced than Apex. The reason why i suggested that kind of adjustments Is that i dont like to see two people shooting at each other while almost standing still ...its brainless. Think about a 1v3 in Apex ...you can be as good as you want, you dont have a chance 80 percent of the time at least. Why? Because if you pick you cannot move with a decent Speed and you become an Easy target for the other Two guys. You either move full Speed or shoot (expecially if we are talking about Ads). Thats why Apex Is closer to a tactical FPS than a fast paced One. I Hope I managed to explain myself better.
I disagree with you, all the "recomendations" that you just said are going to increase the gap between the mechanical and tactical skills, Apex was released to be a game in which the unique abilities of each legend makes you win the game, It was not desingned to be a movement based game, and basically, this shooter is more about how good are you with your aim and abilities of each legend, rather than moving. Beside of that I think that removing tapstrafing is not good, they should have another priorities, like working on servers, audio, cheaters, bugs in general, and then try to take a look which movements are making the game less enjoyable.

Keep removing it? What else has been removed? They are removing something that wasn't even a thing. Before it wasn't a thing Apex was still praised because of its movement... This is the same argument everyone had when they "killed wraith" because of her time to cue. Didnt kill wraith... removing tap straffing wont kill apex, and everyone will forget in a month.
The sole reason why I even still play this game is because of the movement... Yea lets get rid of our movement system in a movement based fps game... makes sense
I think people are overreacting a bit, but as an MnK player, I do, or did, use tap strafing and while it was helpful, I never really needed all that much. That being said, I don't like the direction that they're moving with taking it out. It just seems wrong to remove it completely without at least replacing it with maybe just a weaker, but easier version of it that everyone can do, as well as nerfing aim assist a bit to make up for that. Really you just want both inputs to feel more fair, so by improving movement on controller, but also nerfing aim assist some, you'd likely accomplish that.
removing bhop was understandable, it was basically sprinting while healing, but tap strafe isnt op ofc it will give you a advantage in certain situations but its nothing crazy, its always the bots that cant shoot straight complaining
So its fair that the number 1 movement controller player can’t do a mechanic because it’s impossible but legit any mnk player can bind w to the scroll wheel and move the mouse to the side and accomplish the desired result easily
@@KIlla-cu4cg controller players can tap strafe, only if you have steam. Console players can’t. They Just need to get a pc and stop complaining or just remove cross platform in general
If they're going to remove it, I would suggest that the movement will be the same as Valorant's. In Valorant you could actually tap-strafe in a way when you jump and turn without spamming scroll wheel if that makes any sense
I think the most frustrating thing is that there was like 100 other problems that they could have addressed but instead decided to remove a niche fun movement mechanic
Fr! Fix the servers, improve aint-cheat, balance the meta. But nope weve gotta lower the skill gap so randal who plays 1 hour a week can get more kills. Fucking sucks to see such a good game go under
Indeed. That's how it has been and how it will always remain. Game is riddled with serious issues. No peep. Anything fun, that is not even that useful, unless you are basically a top tier player. Gotta remove that. They always want to diminish the skill gap and remove skill based elements like that.
I get the reasoning behind removing it, as in, there's no way to know when someone's gonna suddenly change direction to outplay you and there's not much counterplay, BUT completely removing it seems drastic. Nerf it in some way, make the turns less sharp, don't allow a complete 180 or whatever, but don't just delete the little movement the game still has. Like, don't get me wrong, people like Shiv or Hal are obviously really good without it, but the variety in player skill is what suffers here. Some people are aimgods and some people are movement gods, and the latter now have less options for making plays, which is sad.

@@avopeac6300 If i managed to tap strafe my way into safety, that just means you couldn't hit your last shots. Plus anyway, you would be in a good position to finish my team cause it's a 3v2. Now if I do something right and I still get beamed by a AA controller, now that feels like shit. And don't even tell me to switch to controller since AA is so "broken", cause I would say the same shit to you and say switch to pc when tap - strafing is so "broken" when it clearly needs skill to pull off and doesn't even help in a 1v1 gun fight. Plus, don't even start with the arguement of "you have your whole arm to aim while i have only my thumb", First of all, when i have my whole arm to aim, i also have a lot of space to miss, now with your thumb you have less space meaning you only have to just track the enemy and aim assist helps you with that as well which is just present for every controller. So which feels like shit to face? A skilled mnk player who took his time to perfect his tap strafing or a guy who picked up a controller who just dumped his whole mag on you while hitting all of his shots?
As a controller player, never ONCE have I ever thought "Tap straffing should be removed." I've actually thought of the opposite, "I wish I could tap strafe aswell!" Apex is gonna get so much backlash if this goes through
tap strafe, bunny hop, wall bounce or any other special movement.. they should bring it all back but make it cost something. One thing that all champions have in common is boosters. They are only used during initial drop or balloon/valk drops. Why not have a dedicated booster bar that runs out so these movements can still be used but won't be abused. After some time it will automatically recharge. they can bring wall running back with this.
After making this decision I would not be surprised if they removed the ability to move while looting only because controller players can't, lmao. Now I can expect the comment from a hardstuck gold 4 controller player telling me "moving while looting is so op, gives so much advantages, and you can aim with your whole arm" lol

I saw a controller playing from console and using exploits where he can teleport a bit(its definetely teleporting, because all the other time he was using very smooth, but when he got to the corner and also when we were fighting close he used it and teleported 1-3 meters to the side) and when you skip all of the animation after using an ability. Ain't this more broken than tap-strafe?
To all console players, I believe 99.9% of PC players (myself included) aren't sad that we're losing an advantage over you. Please don't say "now you will know how it feels"! We're simply sad that Apex is losing a big part of it's appeal and fun-factor. Advanced movement is one of this games hallmarks and we would love it if EVERYONE (including console players) had access to all movement mechanics. They're so fun and raise the games skill ceiling markedly. Dedicated players can practice implementing the techniques and see rewarding improvements in their gameplay. Yes, tap strafe was unintended but that doesn't make it a bad evolution. Stainless steel was invented by accident but the world didn't boycott it. Respawn is correct in their assessment that the inaccessibility is a problem. Rather than remove tap strafe from PC, they should implement it on console/controller. The community should not be at war! Simply advocate advanced movement for everyone to avoid the game degrading into a walking turret simulator. much love... Be nice...

Not really. Removing tap strafing just removes a fun movement mechanic. It has nothing to do with skill gap if any player can do it. I'm gold and it only took me 30 minutes to learn how to do it. I barely have about a month and half on this game too but I have played overwatch before apex. Better players of course will be able to execute it in better ways but that it because most of them are mechanically talented not because they spend hours practicing the movement tech. Air strafing still exists even though it is a complete downgrade.

I'm talking in general and sharing my long experience from season 1 to season 10.
Then they should've nipped it in the bud back in titanfall or at apex launch/first seasons. tap/fzzystrafe is as old as time respawn just never cared.
This is correct, pretty sure they patched the bunny-hop healing immediately because "That was not how it's intended to work"
They left Tap-strafing in the game for too long it basically became the part of the skillset for the top players
I so agree with you @excuza they should have patched it day 1
Bro im a controller player and we CAN tap strafe. And same with bhop, we can and always were able to do that. They just make this excuse for some casual andys who play one time a week. That's cuz people used to tap straffe with the keys and not scroll wheel until a few seasons ago. I do find an issue with all of them acting like aim assist on controller gives brand new player pred aim, ive played every major fps since cod4 and imo apex has the LEAST amount of aim assist in any of those games, maybe it’s the jitter aim but i even checked the settings at one point because I thought I somehow turned it off, if they removed or even nerfed aim assist it wouldn’t be viable for most casual console players, You cant nerf aim assist for all consoles because 5 pros don’t need it, that being said once again I would rather they make it a game mech available to everyone than remove it.
Yo man they are referring to aim assist on pc with a controller not xbox :)

They do not need it. They have other options, and they could still use it without aim assist. And the game would be far better. We all saw how fortnite went. It was a mess.

on controller you have to not only get past the zero point but find micro adjustments on an input that has 1cm of movement in any direction

I disagree with you, all the "recomendations" that you just said are going to increase the gap between the mechanical and tactical skills, Apex was released to be a game in which the unique abilities of each legend makes you win the game, It was not desingned to be a movement based game, and basically, this shooter is more about how good are you with your aim and abilities of each legend, rather than moving.

tap strafing is a crutch for people who have shitty positioning/aim
@@avopeac6300 yeah, when I misjudge my situation and push at the wrong time, i just tap strafe and the enemy just instantly dies.
Just get better at aiming? That's the whole point of the game
@@ruijy4356 Intellectually dishonest reply. You tap strafe to safety and get a heal off and maybe your team saves you when you should have just died
0 accel movement in fps games is jank and feels like shit to face and you know it
@@avopeac6300 If i managed to tap strafe my way into safety, that just means you couldn't hit your last shots.
As someone who is just barely getting a hold on tap strafing, this is crushing to hear. Hope they reconsider this
As a controller player, never ONCE have I ever thought "Tap straffing should be removed." I've actually thought of the opposite, "I wish I could tap strafe aswell!"
Apex is gonna get so much backlash if this goes through
The whole week I've been trying to switch over to mnk from controller so I can do this crazy movement technique. Sucks that it's gone
tap strafe, bunny hop, wall bounce or any other special movement.. they should bring it all back but make it cost something. One thing that all champions have in common is boosters. They are only used during initial drop or balloon/valk drops. Why not have a dedicated booster bar that runs out so these movements can still be used but won't be abused. After some time it will automatically recharge. they can bring wall running back with this.
I miss bunny hop while healing omg
So by this logic they should remove the ability to move while looting because its inaccessible to controller players????
After making this decision I would not be surprised if they removed the ability to move while looting only because controller players can't, lmao.
Now I can expect the comment from a hardstuck gold 4 controller player telling me "moving while looting is so op, gives so much advantages, and you can aim with your whole arm" lol
that the logic for console kids..yes

Be nice...

Really true, tap strafe make this game fun, its one of the winning factor, i believe most of us learnt it because we watched players like taxi2g doing cool tricks

We’re removing sliding when you run and crouch because it’s unfair, making yourself move faster and harder to hit really makes it difficult. We truly care about our community, oh and also we removed all wattson’s skills as all of them are too broken
Man, Its very fun the way respawn solve things, instead of adapt some movement techniques to controler they simple remove it, this will kill the game in some point, because one of the best things in this game is the movement and its no fair to remove the advantage of mouse and keyboard.
So it's fair for one type of input to have a major advantage over another? But it's NOT fair for them to have more similar movement abilities? They are literally catering Noobs and decreasing skill gap between good and bad players. The motivation of grinding this game and improving further is shattered . It's just nerfing the skilled players so the Noobs get out of the water.
