  • What is Tap Strafing? Tap-Strafe Movement Guide Apex Legends
    This tutorial is meant for beginner, intermediate, and advanced Apex players. This video has tips and tricks and tap strafing strategy. Tap-Strafing or W-Tapping is a movement technique used by high ranked competitive players like Apex Predators and ALGS competing Professional Players in E-sports Like Aceu, Lyr1c, and lululovely. This tap strafe movement guide works to some extent in Defiance, but it only works to an extent. You can no longer turn 180 degrees. You can only get about 90 degrees now but this is still useful and worth learning.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Tap Strafing works on all legends including Loba, Bloodhound, Gibraltar, and Wraith but works best on Horizon. It will likely work on new legends like Ash, Blitz, Valk, Fuze, and Jericho.

      @@bigprojects2560 the issue I have with that argument is that new movement tech like this increases the skill ceiling of the game which makes it more interesting and fun to master. B hopping wasn't an intended technique when people started doing it in Quake back in the day, tap strafing is no different. Is it better to have a game that is more balanced by removing the mechanic but is more boring or to figure out another solution to balancing it? I'd honestly rather see input based matchmaking over removing it, and honestly I'll probably benefit from it's removal because I'm not that good at the game. It just sucks to see devs that are so resistant to innovation.

      Also quick question, what do you usually use for weapon cycle then? I generally use 1 for my primary but using 2 for my secondary always fucks me up because I have to take my finger off W. 1 and 3 are easy but because of this issue, I've become reliant on my scroll wheel for weapon cycling.

      @@TheOutsider69 ya so I have side mouse buttons that I use. I use mouse 4 and 5. If I didn't use that I would probably use 1 and 2. Sometimes I wish there were more keys! Haha. I am seriously thinking of switching to esdf instead of wasd.

    • @TheOutsider69
      @TheOutsider69 3 года назад +1

      @@Fingle Yeah that's what I've been trying past couple days since I saw this video lol. I actually found that binding mouse 4 and hotkey 1 to cycle weapon actually works for me for some reason. That way I still have two ways of switching weapons. One on the mouse and one on the keyboard, which is what I used anyway generally speaking. I would use 1 for primary and scroll wheel for secondary basically. I guess just rebinding to a different mouse button is easier for my brain.
      I also found that inversing the binds works better for me. So for instance I have forward bound to mouse DOWN and jump bound to mouse UP and this seems to work better with my brain. Even though mouse up being forward makes logical sense, every time I'm tap strafing my brain reads it as "I need to do a 180" or "I need to get around this corner" so binding it to mouse DOWN makes me think BACKWARDS which makes it easier and more intuitive. Jump being up is self explanatory, you go upwards when you jump.
      That's just me personally though.

    Bro I have been trynna learn how to tap strafe for weeks now ! And your tutorial finally made it click in my mind how to do it ! One tip, always include what a movement mechanic should look like from thrid person view, when you showed your friend doing it, I realized what I was doing wrong and immediately learned how to tap strafe. Thanks for your tutorial, prepping for Valk and S9.

      what was it you were doing wrong..? im having a hard time getting it down, i can do a semi tap strafe but thats all, i cant 180, i dont want to bind my jump or anything to my scroll wheel, is it possible to do this with just normal keybinds..?

    • @koustubhjain6789
      @koustubhjain6789 3 года назад

      @@JawZz Well If you can't do 180 degree tap strafes, keep in mind you have to scroll as soon as you are in the air and keep scrolling until you have made a full 180 degree turn. A problem could be you are giving too many forward inputs wrt to your frame rate and if you have a good frame-rate then you will have to spam your w key like crazy (if not bound to scroll wheel already)

    The only problem is, I cannot utilize both tap-strafing AND wall-jumping, because my MousewheelDown is already bound to (simply) switch between weapons, something that is far more handy for me personally (I actually have more problems during fights if I'm chasing down 1 and 2 keys to select appropriate weapon). Meanwhile, my MousewheelUp is already bound to Jump which allows me to wall-jump.

    trying to learn this with the wall jumping vid you put out is really frying my brain as a normie apex player with autism. i'm definitely struggling getting all these new movement binds to feel natural. definitely frustrating but i'm tryin my hardest to be good. atm I can manage 1 wall jump every 2 or 3-ish attempts and I was able to do my first wall jump combined with the mid-air strafing but that took a lot of focus off of me just moving. this will work for me..... eventually.
