I was going to cement it but I see it would be easier not too and if you ever wanted to relocate it, it would work better. Thanks!
Hi. Looks just like what my grandfather used to grill on. What gauge is the expanded metal? #13 is cheaper than #9 but I'm worried there might be some sag if I put any cast iron cookware on it. Thanks.
I literally built the same exact one. But the price of things are going up. The steel was 110 bucks and the blocks were like 60 bucks. I was wondering. Can I patch the outside with like mortar or cement so make it all look like one piece?

I think the top grill could have been a little more spread out to maximize the coverage area over heat,,,in order to utilize the heat properly. This way, I think, some heat will get wasted.
Great straight forward tutorial. I’m a complete novice at this sort of thing. What goes on the ground level? Do you use something to prevent a fire on the ground or is it unnecessary? Thanks.

That's awesome. I found mine at a local metal shop. Lowes or Home Depot may have it. Good look. Thanks for watching.
Are those cinder blocks or concrete blocks?
We call them cinder blocks
Thank you for doing this show 😊
Thank you for watching and the support.
Do you also get the expanded metal and the cap metal from home depot
I got it from a local metal shop.
This was awesome! Thank you!! We added one more layer for a little more height!
It is my pleasure. So glad you made it and I hope you enjoy it for years to come. Have a great weekend!
Do you place fire on the ground?
I placed rocks on the ground first. Then charcoal and/or wood. Thanks for watching
Gave me ideas. I am a missionary formerly of S.C. I have a house with a concrete porch so I think I will add a tray on the bottom that I can slide out and dump the ashes. I was going to cement it but I see it would be easier not too and if you ever wanted to relocate it, it would work better. Thanks!
That's awesome! Thank you for doing God's work. God bless!
Hi. Looks just like what my grandfather used to grill on. What gauge is the expanded metal? #13 is cheaper than #9 but I'm worried there might be some sag if I put any cast iron cookware on it. Thanks.
3/4 #9 expended metal is the best for ventilated. But it just depends on how large you make it.
Thank you
Thank you for watching!
I literally built the same exact one. But the price of things are going up. The steel was 110 bucks and the blocks were like 60 bucks.
I was wondering. Can I patch the outside with like mortar or cement so make it all look like one piece?
That's great. I'm not too sure. If it gets too hot on the outside it could ruin the mortar.
🌸Awesome 🌸
Making a bbq pit in December!!!!!! WOW!!!!
🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
jjackéee KooKz Yes mam! Not too cold today. Thank you so much watching.
jjacKeeeKooKz my most intense barbeque is in the winter . Hands down .
Do you still use this? Great video.
Yes. Thanks so much
you should stagger those blocks, yeah? i am making one now, and I just broke 4 blocks in half so I could stagger them
Hey make it you own. This just an example. This one is still standing. No issue.
@@THEREALSHOWBBQ good to know. hows about that metal grate, ok to cook on that too? I am still buying the parts and building mine now. thanks
@@tree3po Yes. I cleaned it well and several coats of cooking oil.
@@THEREALSHOWBBQ thanks, man. I am in NC too. Greensboro. Happy cooking bud.
@@tree3po That's cool. About 2.5 hrs from me. Thanks again
Can you make it one layer higher?
You can change however works and is safe for you. Thanks for watching!
Can't wait til this summer to make this and use your BBQ sause .I had one of these in my yard when I bought my home years ago but took it down I didn't truely know what I had ugh.Thank you for sharring God bless
Awesome! I love it and brings it back to basic. The way it use to be and does a great job. Thanks so much and God bless!
Where can I buy grates that size
Lowes possible, or I got them cut at a local metal shop.
Great video! Just made one myself for my grill collection. I might paint mine to give it the classic look. Thanks
That's a great idea. I appreciate you watching and the support!
Looks really cool, watching from Quebec, thinking i might build one this summer once the snow is all gone.
do you just make you fire on the grass under the grill? i think id dig out a little pit and put some gravel down there.
Awesome! Thanks so much for watching. I have gravel under mine. The charcoal and or wood.
That's a nice grill but is it level? Plus, I would have the fire door opening to the side so that I wouldn't get burned when I was cooking on it. Thanks for the idea because I have been looking for a way to make me a Bar-b-que pit at my house.
Yes it's level. This is just and idea. It works well for me. You can change it up and make it your own. I hope it works out for you. Thanks for watching.
Where do you put the charcoal?
I have rock on the ground under the grate. The charcoal goes there. Thanks for watching
I have a concrete slab in my back yard, which I think is covering the old septic tank. Definitely going to build one of these around that slab. Thanks!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
I don’t know how I stumbled across your channel this video but I enjoyed watching you build grill what a wonderful dyi project I like it but it’s definitely something that I would do
Thank you so much. Welcome to my channel. I greatly appreciate your support.
I think the top grill could have been a little more spread out to maximize the coverage area over heat,,,in order to utilize the heat properly. This way, I think, some heat will get wasted.
Bro this is just one way that works for me. You are can always make it your own. What ever works for you. Thanks so much for watching.
this was my pit in the 70s and 80s loved cooking on it. o the memories
Thanks so much for watching
Redoing one we had ..much cleaning up!!!
Dang! That's going going to keep you busy.
I wanna do that and ad a rotisserie
That's a great idea. Thanks so much for watching
Great straight forward tutorial. I’m a complete novice at this sort of thing. What goes on the ground level? Do you use something to prevent a fire on the ground or is it unnecessary? Thanks.
I put rock on the ground. Thanks for watching!
Will there be a danger of it cracking? I live in Maine and the temperature swings here are like in planet Mars.
There is always a chance for it to crack. Especially when you have cold and hot together. We don't have that much of an issue here in NC.
Love this. I bought everything to make this except the expanded metal Idk where to get it.Where did you get yours?
That sounds great. I was able to get it from a local metal shop. Thanks so much for watching.
Nice job. Thanks. We just leveled the ground in the backyard and will build the grill tomorrow.
That's awesome bro. I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for watching.
Nice grill would like to try to make that.would like to see that bbg grill in action thanks for the video
It super easy to make. Thanks so much for watching.
Try to be a little original. Duplicate video of the same exact bbq, same explanation, same sequence of another RUclipsr who did it a year before you posted this video.
Been doing these for years. Mine is original. Not sure who you are referring to.
would it work if you turned the bottom layers of brick to where the holes were facing out? allowing good airflow for the fire?
Sure. You can do what ever you would like. Make it your own. This is the way I did this one.
How can you make a 36” grill
Cut the metal shorter. Super easy.
Too Low
Not well thought out video or grill in practice .
