I have a MacBook Pro (Early 2010) that I've recently upgraded internally that was running on OS X High Sierra. This is by far the clearest tutorial on how to install OS X Catalina on the MacBook Pro. My MacBook Pro now runs smoothly for exactly what I intended to use it for! Thank you! Good luck!
is catalin running smoothly? for surfing the internet, watching youtube or netfflix? on my MBP 2010 (high Sierra) I play on hearthstone and this game run very good.
Thank you very much for this. I just updated my mid 2010 MacBook Pro. I definitely recommend going into the settings after you complete this and go to accessibility, and marking “Reduce Transparency”. It does seem slow at first, but once I marked that it worked just fine. As long as you follow the instructions in this video you are set. Thanks again!
Is there anything you can recommend to do after this, because i am using MB pro late 2011 running mac os hight sierra then updated to catalina , it seems fine but kinda slower than high sierra, even the disk speed is slower than before
is catalin running smoothly? for surfing the internet, watching youtube or netfflix? on my MBP 2010 (high Sierra) I play on hearthstone and this game run very good.
Heck yes! Just did this on my mid 2010 macbook pro 13 inch and got 10.15.7 and was able to finally install windows office (because they require 10.14.0 at least) and now saved 1600 bucks as opposed to getting a new macbook because of this! I had 2.4 GHz intel core 2 duo but had previously upgrade myself to 500 gb SSD and 16 gb of ram and now it runs perfect!
Nice job. I updated a 2008 iMac and a 2010 Mac Mini to Catalina (both Core 2 Duo processors) Everything worked fine; however, I reverted back to El Capitan on both due to performance issues, nothing out of the ordinary, but both systems ran better, less sluggish with El Capitan. Both are systems that I do not use regularly. So no big deal. Just because there is a new OSX out doesn't necessarily imply that the older systems will perform any better and in most cases will not, IMHO. I would highly recommend prior to patching, install more RAM an a SSD. Those two items will provide the biggest boost to system performance.
6:37 when I get to this part I cannot select my volume and it says „ You must be running Catalina 10.15 or later to install onto this volume“ I don‘t get why though. I‘m running a 2010 MacBook Pro as well. Do you perhaps know the solution?

Thank you! Very clear and helpful. Question - do you enable SIP when done? I thought dosdude indicated you don't. If you don't does it make you more vulnerable to being hacked? We're preparing computers for donation or sale. Thanks.
When I get to the installation stage on my Mac Mini 2010 it says SIP Enabled. SIP must be disabled in order for the in-place installation to function correctly. Hello, I have a MacBook Pro (13-Inch, Mid 2010) with OS X El Capital (Version 10.11.6) and the patcher successfully installed and everything in the video was working out perfectly until it reached the actual Catalina installer where you select the disk to install the macOS. I'm sure you've moved way past this project, but I picked up a Pro2010 here recently and it is giving me Error while installing to disk. And tells me to try again later I've tried mutile versions of the patcher and nothing seems to work.
My computer says: The version macOS10.15.7 cannot be installed on this computer. It is the same build as you have in the video. What am I doing wrong?
may mac got stuck, what should i dooo
Out of all the patchers available, which one works best on the MacBook Pro mid 2010?
What to do if you have both an SSD & HDD? I want to keep the OS on the SD and the extra files and clutter on the HD. Thank you for you tutorial
Did u guys change your hard drive format from Journalized Extended to APFS?
My MacBook 2010 pro stuck on 90 percent, what to do ? Please guide 🙏🏻
After following instructions the program cannot be installed on my computer for what reason I don’t know it says cannot be installed Catalina 10.1 5.7 cannot be installed not sure if I am doing anything wrong but I followed your step-by-step process and it cannot be installed
Do you need to re-enable sip afterwards ?
Great Video Solution. I have a question.. If I need to put the Catalina on a NEW SDD , I have to install first the HighSierra and then make your installation guide....twice installation ?
I believe so. Unless you were to clone the original drive to the new one instead
The Patch updater did not show up for me after installing, my wifi now doesn’t work. How do I get ahold of that patch update for bug fixes
Thanks, it worked for my MacBook Pro 2010 version. You saved me money. What do you do with the patcher, should you keep it for future updates or delete it?
I’d keep it because if you run into a driver issue you can redo the drivers.
Hello, I have a MacBook Pro (13-Inch, Mid 2010) with OS X El Capital (Version 10.11.6) and the patcher successfully installed and everything in the video was working out perfectly until it reached the actual Catalina installer where you select the disk to install the macOS. The only disk available is the Mac OS startup disk with 249.2 GB total and 163.11 GB available and it says "This version of macOS 10.15 cannot be installed on this computer." Did you upgrade the SSD and/or RAM beforehand or am I doing something wrong? Help and thanks!!
Saint Fanta it sounds like you ran the Catalina installer directly, it has to be run through the patcher. Did you go through the patcher prompts to get to the install?
@@IansTech Oh okay I understand now, however when I run it through the patcher it shows that it is open in the dock but when I check, it says the application is not responding
Saint Fanta I got a comment yesterday that someone had issues with the installer, if you have issues with it. I would delete it from your applications folder and re download the installer file
@@IansTech I'm having the same issue and I deleted the installer and reinstalled. It still won't run the installer after reinstalling it. It says "application not responding".
The video says command r. Does that mean press the command button and the letter r simultaneously ? Thx
works great thanks, one question when mac update to a newer os will it install again thanks
I believe there is a bypass being done for the new version. It’s in beta currently though.
MacBook Pro5.5 has been completely installed on 10.15.7 using macOS Catalina Patcher. I want to install Windows 10 now. Windows 10 was installed by booting the assistant through Boot Camp. But the Boot Camp driver cannot be installed. This driver only supports Windows 7. It was found on the Apple official website that MacBook Pro5.5 only has drivers for Windows 7 systems. How to solve this problem?
hi again
another question, if you update and deactivate / finally activate CSR and if you change hdd to ssd and take a backup, does something happen in the system?

Hi
I have a late 2009 iMac and I want to update it to Mojave using dosdude1’s patcher. I have a question about bringing all the plugins, programs, apps and files I already have into the patched os. How do I do that without losing my stuff and without reinstalling everything? Can you help?
Hi there, what if you don’t receive “install to this machine” as an installation method. I am only able to select the other two options. “Install to this machine” is visible but I’m not able to select it.
thanks for the video, but will i lose all my files and data thats on my mac when i perform this operation??
If you do an upgrade, you won’t. Please back up your computer though no matter what!
I finished the setup until 6:29 but before i installed the actual os it says error and try to go back patching it , what should i do next?
I owned a macbook pro late 2011 running macos high sierra
I am having a hardtime updating my device to Catalina , i did disable the sip
