WHAT TWO GUITARS!!!!!!!!! and what two astonishing players!!!!! Cheers, Guys!
Can't get enough of Mick & Pete! Great players, fun guys.
Love it to see the great big smile on their faces, just shows how fun the tried and true combo of Gibson/Marshall can be.
Wow, guys! That was one sweet intro and some awesome playing, as always! We need a CD!
The whole Anderton's family needs to do a Christmas album or something. I would buy 6.
YES!
"We are the World", with the Andertons employees singing! 😆
It would be the greatest thing
Instrumental preferably ... Not sure I want to hear Rob screaming o holy night
Maybe if they were all singing silent night together or something like that with all of their voices mixing, some being good while some being horribly out of tune would actually be heartwarming to hear them all just doing it
( I personally think "we wish you a merry Christmas" would be a great one for that )
I am always amazed at how much you two seem to enjoy playing together and get such a great kick of awe when the other plays an awesome lick. You just seem to love your jobs and love jamming together. You guys are both awesome guitarists.
I love the patience that Pete has when he plays. He lets notes ring... leaves spaces - very lyrical. So hard to do when your nerves are telling you "the camera is on....shred...shred...shred!"
I absolutely love how you 2 play :D Could listen to it for days.
2 years have gone by.. Still listening.
Send help!! or don't... have to keep listening 😍
Mick, brother you are sounding great! Keep it up, love to hear it... Sucks though when you play some really juicy riffs, Pete smiles and one-ups you with some of his super secret pro riffs that he has been keeping stowed away in the back of his brain somewhere...
It's always going to happen Buddy. Thanks for watching!
Mick's face watching Pete "rock out" was priceless!
You should see Bea and Pete's Schecter review. Five minutes with a seven-string and Pete was djenting away like he'd been in Meshuggah for 20 years.
oh my gosh, that 58' sounds so good! :)
I've never really been that fussed about the "Greeny Out Of Phase Middle Position" thing.. but this has me sold. The way it cuts the lows out and make it really cut is the perfect solo boost without increasing the gain or volume. Genius. (Apologies for just catching up with a 50 plus year old piece of tech!)
Another beautiful intro jam. I love the videos with these two guys playing...
The intro jam (to me) was very Eagles-esque, very nice
Guys you wanna know the best practice, watch these videos while holding your guitar and anytime one of them does a cool lick you like, try to play it. It improved my playing! Cheers guys :D
Doing that as we speak. Pete's always on point.
+Robert Leggett they both hav cool licks , I was stealing some from both of them!
been doing that since the beginning of "Guitar Paradiso" time... such great influential players.. :-D
There's no pedal in this world or any other gear that would ever replace, or even get close to the sound of a Marshall jtm45 pushed hard like that!
Man it was just amazing! Especially with those guitars! Such an amazing tone!
Great video, could watch all day
The best review on RUclips of these models. Thanks, guys.
The guy with the 58 (Mick) understands music and plays each note with taste.
Two more guitars to add to my dream list. Absolutely gorgeous Les Pauls and as always stunning playing guys
I could listen to this all day and night. So tasteful and beautiful.
Awesome playing guys on a couple of great guitars .... I wish I could own and play half as well.......! The Capt did a great job with the specs :)
You guys should bang, make a tube power eternal love child of great chops that will lead us into a golden age of tone.
lmao! :D
Euuuwwww.
It's not that they don't bang it's just Mick had his ovaries removed.
Nice les Pauls
I've got an epiphone one
They sound so nice
the best part about this video is that both Pete and Mick are loving the tones and riffs.
Love listening to these guys play together.
Great video. From RUclips land, I didn't think that there was much between the '58 and '59 but the driven JTM45 seemed to suit the guitars more than the Fender.
You've both got this expansive and fluent musical vocabulary. I'd really like to see an interview where you talk about how you've acquired your knowledge of licks, chord progressions etc. Is it from listening and copying other musicians, or playing covers in bands, from writing your own material, or from a more focused learning approach etc?
I don't know whether you can do this within the confines of Guitar Paradiso but your jams are really *musical* and not flashy, so I think there's a lot of guitar players out there who would be interested in hearing about your approach to learning and playing.
Thanks so much Cristobal. My vocabulary is so much narrower than Pete's. I became acceptably good at a young age and made the terrible mistake of believing I was good. Absolutely obsessed with SRV, playing three or four nights a week in pub and function bands. Then when I joined Guitatist mag in 1997, I realised that my knowledge was pitiful, hanging out with various players, contribs and so on, who knew so much more. Fast forward 20 years and while my playing has improved a bit, I'm still in awe of guys like Pete - Pete in particular in fact - who have this immense vocabulary but critically.... Who also have tone. They're rare and inspiring! To get good, I think you have to play with people a lot: Doesnt matter what kind of music or gig, just play and never stop. I sort of stopped a few years back (playing in regular bands) and it does nothing for your playing! It's all good though. Thanks for the kind words!
Oh you guys... Thank you... But Mick, just to let you know, I learn things from you and your playing everytime we do these videos. you are a GREAT player and don't forgot that.... More videos soon..
I think you're being a bit hard on yourself but Pete definitely has a rare touch. I completely agree that playing with other people is a great way to learn ... plus it hammers home the importance of getting the basic stuff right (I'm thinking tone, timing and playing something appropriate for the context of the song). I think I've been guilty of learning without understanding (if you know what I mean) so I struggle to apply anything I've learnt. There's lots of inspiration at Guitar Paradiso and elsewhere in RUclips land though, so as you say, it's all good! Enjoy the weekend when it comes and keep the videos coming.
Thank you. I wasn't trying to be self effacing/false modesty or whatever. I just have an unusual view of the guitar world having done the jobs I've done. When you work around world class players day in day out for your job, it's a lot of inspiration, but also a very hard reality slap. :0) Make noise that you love, and nothing else. That's what I try to do these days. Including these vids as it goes - it's a lot of fun!
Too kind mate.
Stop stealing all my licks. ;0)
Wonderfull played, fantastic sound and great Mrs. Paulas!
Looks like you both were having a lot of fun by the end of this review! Lovely looking and sounding guitars, now where did I leave that spare £4k....
Both are fantastic but I think I like the smoothness of the '58 better.....
Could also be the amp. JTM45 or Hotrod Deluxe ;)
@@Heatfarmer i assume they're using the same amp. otherwise what are they footswitching?
@@mainlymusicman, they aren't. They switch other effects. Lars is right. The Fender is much more smooth.
I wish you guys would revisit Mesa amps, especially the Expresses and Lone Stars.
Wow how damn cool... the opening jam just screams Prince... Thank you so much for that alone.
.p u r p l e r a i n ...
Golden rain
Great to watch these two monsters playing together! My favs!
I want a PRS Guitar Paradiso!! It's been a while since the last one. :D
It has been a while... But I think it might just be in the works..... Thanks for watching.
The one GP featuring PRS Vela was easily one of the best videos you've made guys.
For some reason, i thought Jonny lang immediately in the intro. Absolutely love the content gents.
Well done guys! Convinced..got a R9! Thanks for your counsulting vids and great play n sounds!
I was thinking, the tone is actually really unexpectedly good. No wonder it's my man from that pedal show, of course the tones amazing
The 58's middle position quacky sound is truly a special sound from a les paul!
You chaps are too good for words!
I love these two together...................
Love the out of phase pickups, every guitar with two humbuckers should have them!
Hey guys great job! For some reason 58 was unassuming and when 59 came I couldn’t stop listening! This my two cents worth of wisdom 😘😊🙌🏻
I like the sound of the 59 :) Did you mention that Pete has a broken rib? If so, I hope he takes care and heals fast :)
Wow... awesome!
But what about the neck profiles? Is there not a difference with these two guitars? There should be if they are representing the 58 and 59 respectively.
Lastly do you think my wife would notice if I had a large international package arrive here (Canada) from the UK?
" do you think my wife would notice if I had a large international package arrive here (Canada) from the UK?"
No, and if she did, she would be so impressed she would tell you to order another one. For her.
suggestion - i think when you are comparing the sound of 2 gtrs, plug both axes in to a
nice quality instrument switcher and put everything - pedals/amp - downstream of that.
its really the only way to get a proper comparison and being you can switch so fast, the
previous sound is fresh in your head. and yes, i did hear "don't need no doctor" by the humblest of pies around 15 mins in....thumbs up from hot sunny las vegas...
LMAO, 6:53
Somebody's been jammin with the Capt'n a lot lately!
I make sure to play figure that every time I pick up a guitar in a music shop now
The 58 kicks ass
2 of the best sounding guitars ever heard. Also, killer demo!
ok this video and that playing at the beginning made my day.
would love to hear you guys play some slide!!
Love it. Great tones guys. Well done.
Outstanding tones, thank you!
10/10 Lee, 20/10 demo Mick andPete
I'd listen to these videos just to here these guys play.
Great work again guys. Love those axes. What happened to Pete's ribs?
that JTM45 pedal is big but man does it sound great!
What a great intro, love that riff at 1:46 !
I know you guys are (rightfully) scared to play the jtm45 cranked too long, but have you considered earplugs? It's heaven for us :) Love these guitars and your playing and reviews. Cheers
Do you guys ever play together live anywhere, or anywhere other than these videos? I really think you should. Great playing!
Best sound: '58 on neck pickup. Play me some Black Snake Moan.
Why did the intro jam get cut off?!? Fantastic playing by both of you!
I think I prefer Mick's playing lately. Sacrilege! As for the guitars, the 58 sounds darker and more growly to me.
Nice!It would be cool to see a Les Paul Standard or Traditional vs a Custom Shop LP.Would be interested in what you both had to say on them
Make an album guys, make an album!
Holy shinikees! British Leo DiCaprio and Tom Cruise! Playing the dreamiest guitars ever replicated! Cheers!
my God Pete plays with class!
Absolutely gerat! You make so great sounds. I would like to see you using a broom stick. Guess you would get better tones out of it than me out of my guitar.
Would it be possible that you make a video with the two cheapest LP from Harley Benton? Knowing Thomann are competitors. But would be interesting how guitars for 130EUR sound in your hands!
Does anyone else get a weird noise when they plug in their Les pauls and goes when you touch any metal part anywhere on the setup ?
Absolutely
was that to be a purple rain jam? cause it was awesome
Where is the looper in the signal chain? Into the Fender, Marshall or both?
Bloody love you guys
I want a 59’ ice tea burst with all the 59’ electrics and a 60’s thin neck!
You can sand your neck just like how jimmy page did it
Awesome....
Just Epic.
Jeez that 58 sounds awesome
sweet playing !! soulful !!
58 clean 59 compressed.
WTF...where's the Paradiso shirts guys?? Loving the playing & tones as usual though. The out of phase tones on these instruments sounds awesome.
Ah sorry! I think we were so excited about the guitars, we forgot to shirt up!
What Mick said....
What was the note/chord progression in the beginning?
Nahaha this golden. Guitars were always good. but the playing was beautiful love to hear all day
Please do Victory v22 vs v44 vs Kraken. You do amazing stuff, super helpful. Thanks!
and add H&K Deluxe 20/40 to the Shootout :)
the Gibson with the Beast pickups just sounds brighter you're right it sounds like it pushes more
I believe that PG's pickups were stock and "faulty" from the factory actually! I read somewhere that the tape around the pickups had never been tampered with, and therefor they can't have been modded. Also the famous burst Donna is also out of phase!
Could be true. Jol Danzig (the man behind Hamer guitars) says that's the case - that it was 'faulty' from the factory. I've heard other people say it was a repair. Somebody knows for sure...
Can any tell me specifically what fender hot rod deluxe he's using?
That phase reversal mod actually makes humbuckers bearable
Am I the only one who can hear some clipping at around 2:17? Not that it bothers me just want to know if my headphones are needing to be replaced or if it is from the video.
Love the 59'
Comparing two guitars on a fender and a marshall? You can talk about spec's but why compare pickup tones? And each guitar will make the pickup's sound different.
Nice one guy's cheers.
Does anyone know if you can get these underfund humbuckers separately somewhere?
Wonderfull intro!
PLease, make some playing tutorials with licks!!!!
Or that 59......or that 58 ....... Or a 57 gold top I have an lpj pro with 490s n the chrome covers n coil taps it was a gc and musicians friend special run and for whatever reason I loved it so much I couldnt justify buying the classic I went in to get I just kept coming back to this rough satin chocolate brown stripped down guitar that looked like a piece of driftwood some one fashioned into a guitar...... It just sounded n felt right so for now that 900 dollar paul is as dear as I can possess
What looper pedal are you guys using?
I think it was a Ditto in this video. Best P
Not to take anything away from Pete cuz he's incredible but mick is in general an encyclopedia of music history, and catches on to anything very quickly......... For that matter when it comes to nasty blues licks..... I think the Captain sounds amazing.... He has tasteful and mean sounding licks and a great ear for good tone
And his les paul is my dream guitar
Les paul into fender amp is blissful 🤤
I've often wondered if you guys are protecting your ears when you run even the reasonable volume demos...
"..it doesn't just get louder, it just gets better."
Man. they have to be the nicest sound LP's I have ever heard! And I know that's a lot down to the hands that they're in (Mick and Pete, exceptional playing as always), but DAMN! The tone is absolutely extraordinary!!!!
WHY DO THEY HAVE TO BE NEARLY £4k!!!!! ;o(
I guess its like saying, "Man, Rolls Royce make the best cars ever - why do they have to be £250,000 each" ;)
It's true but I'm infinitely further away from a RR (not that I'd ever spend 250k to drive a living room around), than I am a stunning LP. Not a criticism more a plaintiff yelp for my numbers to come in this Friday so I can do some shopping. Believe me, I appreciate the craftsmanship.
I know what you mean. Maybe it would be better if the guitars were so expensive that you could just put it out of your mind. But Custom Shop guitars are expensive enough to be painful, but just about close enough to think about making some serious sacrifices to get one!!
Will just have to satisfy myself with a trip to Andertons in the meantime and I can come and caress them and then not wash. At least I've touched one then ;oD. Who knows maybe this Friday it'll be me! Rest assure if it is, Andertons with be seeing a fairly large purchase... LP, Friedman Jerry Cantrell Sig etc etc etc...
sustain monsters. Wow
